Are you gonna show me only retarded videos today guys? What ladder place were those outstanding players that manned the riflemen (first vid) and cons (second vid)? Please don't serve this kind of shit to me today, the engagement mistakes were quite obvious.
I'm not sure what else you want to see? Should 1 pgren squad be able to take out 2 conscript squads and 2/3rd of a guard squad when the soviet player micros well?

I don't really see the need for this nerf.
Wehr Command bunkers still works in uncapped/enemy territory. Soviet FHQ works in all types of territory and can even be constructed in enemy territory. USF ambulance only works in friendly, but it can move. OKW can't move their truck so it should also work if the enemy has taken the territory. |
They are fine in certain situations. They defend well when the enemy is coming to them, or when you can get to the enemy without taking damage on the way (like around corner flanks or something), but they are too squishy and expensive to just go attack with them on long range units. So they are more like a nice addition than a core infantry unit usually.
Well, that's pretty much the point of this unit. Wehrmacht has the unique luxury of having non-doctrinal long range LMGs on their core infantry, so there is little point in getting mid/short-range units when you are fighting on a large open map. However, in more cluttered spaces like the center and east sides of La Gleize Outbreak, having a panzergrenadier unit or two increases your offensive potential by miles. |
Panzergrenadiers are legit units. I don't know why so many people write them off as useless without shreks. I use Pgrens every time I play Ostheer and they never let me down. Though admittedly I did struggle with them at first until I realized that you do not need to cross the distance between mid and close range to out-DPS conscripts and riflemen. It is the crossing of this distance that gives bad results because you won't do much DPS on the move and you'll likely lose a squad member in the process. Just moving into cover at mid range (or slightly closer) and letting them rip is enough to win engagements (with taking casualties), but they really start to shine when you can use them in flanking maneuvers. |
...which... is wrong in my opinion and exactly this is the problem. It needs to be more effective against vehicles, not infantry. And such a change (penetration buff) won't make guards crapy again. It will just improve their performances against vehicles and even medium tanks which will be ok and needed. Let's put it this way: how would you feel about changing schrecks in the same manner? To be quite good vs infantry?
Why is it wrong?
The PTRS is an anti-tank rifle that can also be used with reasonable success vs infantry. The panzerschrek on the other hand fires a shaped charge that is simply not that effective vs infantry.
I don't see why this fact can't be represented in-game. Sure, the PTRS is over-performing, but that is not because the concept is wrong; it's because the numbers need to be tweeked. |
Well Obersoldaten also have close range grenades when they are equiped for long range. Of course unless you upgrade to the rarely used Stg44.
The difference is that Obersoldaten are so good at long range with just their LMG that enemy units will need to ambush and close in in order to stand a chance (exluding LMG paras and now guards). Their grenades are therefore pretty useful, both the exploding one and the slowing smoke grenade. With pre-patch guards it was a different story. They were long range troops, but with such poor DPS, the enemy didn't need to close in; making the grenade pretty useless unless you were going to close in yourself, which in turn made the the guards lackluster DPS even lower because only 2 models could fire on the move.

What was really changed with obersoldaten? LMG34 dps slightly reduced and cost 60 munition only. Paratroopers need to pay for their dps twice more.
Yes, that was it. Though 25% is not a slight reduction, it is pretty significant.
All it means now is that they don't automatically destroy all enemy infantry and you have to use cover a bit. |
This sounds like the BO I thought would work, but tht mixed with soviet T4 makes kt and LeIG not that effective. The bombs tht has makes me to careful with the kt, any damage on the engine means trouble.
Hmmm yes T4 would be a problem. I'm not sure what to do against that. |
Blob until KT, a-move with KT, don't drive over ice.
best idea would probaly just to spam jaegers or panzerfusilliers and try to outblob him. But currently i dont know if it really has a counter. flak HT? Maybe...
Oh,and the new LEIG works good againts bloberinos now too.
Don't blob, you need the cover or those PTRS rifles will wear you down too fast. |
I faced a PTRS blobber once so far with OKW.
I used about 4 volks with a FHQ and a leIG (worked well vs the blob). I made the mistake of getting an MG34, which ended up quickly getting blown to bits. After that I got T4 up pretty fast and I got 2x Obers with LMG34s. I did not spend ammo on schreks until he got tanks (no need to get them earlier). After that I just saved up for King Tiger and rolled him with that. Those silly rifles ain't got shit against the king tiger.
The most important lesson I learned from that game was that Green Cover is super important, even for OKW, and that the Obers Booby Traps are pretty nice.
