The M4 76mm has the second highest rate of fire among all (non automatic) medium and heavy tanks, the first being the command panzer 4 (yeah the m10 has a faster reload but it also has a wind up and cooldown time which the M4 doesnt).
In fact, on average the M4(76) has 1.2 seconds faster reload than either panzer 4 variant, with superior penetration characteristics. This allows the M4(76) to stand its ground against tanks you would normally have a less than even chance against with a T-34/76 or M4a3.
The rate of fire more than makes up for its aoe deficiency against infantry.
The E8 is very cost efficient given its defensive characteristics, but while the M4(76) is a generalist with a slight emphasis on AT, the E8 seems to be more of an AT specialist with some AI capability. This means that while the M4(76) competes somewhat fairly against the M4a3, the E8 ends up competing role wise with the Jackson-a competition the E8 simply doesnt win, thus making the cost effectiveness a moot point. |

I would not be opposed to giving the Su-76 a smoke barrage. The soviets have a real lack of smoke options(only 2 including doctrines). |
OK dude
Yup, charging Falls into melee range vs Shock Troops is genius-IQ play. Never mind the fact that Shocks have the highest close range DPS AND the highest durability of all units in the game. Also, FG42s are a hard counter to AAHT and AEC, it really is that simple.

FSJ are pretty ridiculous. You can charge them into melee against shock troops and win more than half the time- due likely to their insane damage on the move. Not only that but the volume of fire from the FG42s rip any vehicle short of a light tank to shreds simply through raw dps. Honestly, losing the faust wasnt even a huge nerf because without it FSJ still hardcounter most light vehicles.
Let's be real, if paratroopers only had 5 men like rangers they would be woefully underpowered. You yourself mentioned that rangers get stomped by FSJ and per model paratroopers are actually WEAKER than rangers. Paras are powerful sure, but not as cost effective as rangers amd certainly not as cost effective as FSJ. |
Of course it does.
The initial argument of Serrith was that the Jackson were not any squishier than other TDs. And while the mobility of the Jackson is very good, it is super squishy once it's under attack. And penetration chance is a very fair point in that regard.
No. I was arguing against protoss Angelo's points regarding the durability of US units. My point was that I dont consider the jackson, sherman and pack howitzer to have a disproportional extreme lack of durability though I fully acknowledge the M4 is tied for the second lowest armor on a non doc generalist medium, and the pak howitzer is tied for the lowest durability on a non doc indirect support gun and the Jackson has the second lowest armor among the 60 range TDs. |
....
I don't think I agree with everything(most) here, especially with all the squishy stuff. The M4a3 is no squishier than a cromwell and actually tanker than the t-34/76, the pak howitzer is no squishier than an leig, the Jackson while having slightly less armor than the su85 has more hp then the StuG. |
Its very obvious spec ops flares are problematic right now, and I don't think the answer is simply tweaking cost, or cooldown, or AOE or w.e because all you are doing is reducing the cost effectiveness without reducing the cheesiness. I think the ability just needs to be replaced-preferably something with a similar theme.
Here are some ideas I have on replacing it:
1. Make it a clone of the soviet spy network(reveals on minimap only) with appropriate cost increases
2. Replace the ability with "Infantry Flare Packages": Volksgrenadiers can fire flares(like fusiliers), Sturmpioneers can deploy tripwire flare mines, Obers can build the overwatch flare traps.
3. Replace ability with "targetting flares": Select an enemy vehicle, for 20 seconds all units gain bonus accuracy when firing on that vehicle, every 5 seconds a SMALL flare is deployed revealing the location of that vehicle. (This is similar idea to the soviet mark target except with flares/accuracy instead of planes/damage)
I believe these ideas remove the cheesiness of the ability while actually promoting the theme of the commander better than the original ability. |
Yep USF is in perfect spot for being axis funtoy. You guys know that keeping riflemans alive is harder than keeping grens alive...
Wut..... |
In 1v1, I consider OKW to be the weakest.
I main soviets, I consider them to be somewhere in the middle either second or third from the top.
I consider USF the strongest.
UKF and ostheer is a bit harder to place, the former due to recent nerfs potentially shuffling its position and the latter due to its reliance on commanders and power spike timings that cover up a rather mediocre stock army. |
I dont think the proposed changes are problematic at all.
I do agree that having a 300mp unit that needs to perform close combat duty, sweep, repair vehicles/structures, lay mines/wire, potentially provide anti tank duty, give healing and doctrinally clear garrisons is extremely taxing for a single or even 2 squads.
I see two potential ways of helping the situation:
Either offload the utility on other units, for example-give volks an optional sweeper package that locks out other upgrades
Or make them cheaper and less potent |
