So you should have build a katyusha. Without replay, it is harder to figure out what the issue is.
You played vs someone better than you, take it as a lesson.
that makes no sense, Its not a replay, I'm talking about, its consistently losing against OKW, I cant deal with the faction as Soviets

In this game I suffer the usual problem with OKW, I cant ever seem to get the initiative going, although this was different as I went penals and a sniper instead of Maxim and cons mix exactly the same happened, just getting cut off and losing map control due to an inability to gain a bit of map, admittedly this game didn't go as badly as usual as I was still intact when the KT arrived, but to be honest it was still the same out come, It was hard to actually play the way I wanted to as victory points were always counting down badly so I had little choice but to go for VP's most the game. I'm just not sure what to do about this and its just about every OKW game, I was particularly happy with this game in the fact I came closer than usual to breaking out a little.

I guess he is not joking. He just experienced playing against somebody who knows how to use raketens. They are very effective once a player stops to subbornly use them as if they were paks.
Screening with infantry is a good advice, but I would also recommend using air scouts. They reveal all camouflaged units including snipers and raketens. Apart from that doing what you do is also a good idea - if you can force your opponent into building at least 2 raketens without commiting too much to armour yourself, you often will beat him with pure infantry advantage.
thx i will try the air scouts, thanks for actually being helpful, I think some people imagine sort of strange scenarios here, he had two racketen and a panther, I had SU-85 and two T34-85's, we both had shit loads of infantry, obviously I tried flanking and infantry screening, that's why I lost, infantry screening against obersoldaten Mg's mines etc, guess what everyone, he couldn't infantry screen to well either for the same reason, the difference was he could retreat his racketen and hold ground |
I have been having problems with Racketen to the point of no longer fielding armour against OKW at all, the fact they are invisible with massive range and able to retreat seems a little OP to me, sort of too many advantages, they kill tanks in a single volley and if not the huge range means I often cant get out of trouble in time, then they simply run off, if I get near them with inf they are gone, yet my own guns can get over-run, how do you deal with this? |
I get complacent and pay for it in this one, look out for a Sherman stolen at a critical moment ..game changing stuff, made us both laugh |
the hell that is choosing T34-85's, by the time you get one its hard to think what you are going to use it for, it hardly kills infantry and it cant kill armour

A good and easy way to address the upkeep subject might be (as suggested in other threads) to bring back sector based manpower income (+3 manpower per territory held in coh1). This will reward good play and unit preservation, since it will result in more capping power and therefore map dominance. It also alleviates the manpower income loss resulting from a higher population count due to unit preservation.
However, it might be too early to completely dismiss the new upkeep system. In 1v1 games if you are preserving your units and manage to inflict squad losses for the other team you'll still come out ahead if you balance your investment and don't over invest in lower tiers. I see it as a new strategical challenge to find the right balance between early game investment and being able to counter late tier units if my opponent, despite having lost most of the map, manages to field one. It adds another layer of strategy, which I welcome to some extend.
this is where soviets have manpower bleed issues, they need more low tier units to counter low tier axis units, when they start facing LMG grens and rife nades or AC's their upkeep gets really ugly, they can control most the map and not be able to tech due to low manpower. |
any advice on what I did wrong here |
no way von aston won with soviets
