Thread: Does anyone know how to play soviets in this new patch? 18 Apr 2014, 00:48 AM Because 2 kv8 is insane, u negate their slow movement by locking down both sides of map, then when u go to their base bye bye buildings. But yeah IS2 is also a nice safe option. The double kv8 would however allow u to go terror doc for an earlier propaganda arty and later IL2 bombs, although really hard to save munis for! Personally I'm loving maxim play to hold back strong German inf. But it requires v good combined arms. In: Red Army Strategies

Ok if you correctly position su85 like you say, they don't need too much looking after. But 34/85s are a pleasure to micro IMO. They are not difficult to make them perform. Su85 is ok in one set location, but the moment they need to switch flanks for example, you've got a slow awkward nightmare. In: Red Army Strategies

The elephant requires arty to counter, and the same doctrine has recon+bomb. 2: Luftwaffe support. The fuel>ammo ability, in combination with a cheap recon and a bombstrike, make it way too easy to take out howitzers. For only 50 fuel and 40 ammo, you can take out a howitzer. Yes number 1 is a big problem because the correct counter is already hard countered. Number 2 not so bad seen as an air support doctrine is a perfect doctrine to counter static defences just like real life. Having a doc hard counter a other is ok. So long as there are docs which hard counter the air support. It's only like coh1 in that respect. Having howies survive arty strikes with 5% HP is a really cool idea. Would really increase play around them, both attacking and defending, would be more like the play around a pak43 is now. On a side note, there are certainly times I've noticed at the end of a game that a perfect counter to what my enemy had would have been a howie and that they had the incorrect doc for countering it. So maybe a clever player would bait people into certain docs, to then counter with a howie.. Kinda like coh1 Germans doing T3 terror fakie, but then going T2 defensive. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: COMRADES! Do not build T3 or T4. 17 Apr 2014, 23:54 PM I totally disagree on t3/4 being useless. For one it allows u to get earlier essential soviet pressure on Germans long before call ins are available. For me this is worth it's own weight in fuel. 2nd, soviets units, like any army, work best when supporting each other. Don't just rely on only armoured vehicles to defend themselves. A perfect example of this is using T2, guards and onto a quick T34 and M5. Used as combined arms in a semi defensive way, this can easy hold it's own against T3 Germans.. Long enough for you to throw up a fuel cache and call an ISU to then push them back. Really sounds like you don't know how to apply and keep pressure on and or how to use units to support each other. t34 are very useful for holding in reserve near maxims and guards and ZiS, they quickly respond to any push from Germans. They are not specialist, but they defo do enough when supported correctly to repel and German assault. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Help! PIO SPAM.14 Apr 2014, 18:44 PM Keeping range when its a large blob of them can be tricky, they always manage to close. But anyway, Maxims is the way for me atm. Doesnt matter if its grens, pios or PGs, maxims used well, backed by a mortar (i love it with accurate auto fire bulletin) and guards holds off germans pretty well atm. Then you can get an M5 and T34 to help shore up defence, then a short wait for an ISU to get offensive. In: Red Army Strategies
