FlakHQ is a tech building. That's why it doesn't have a pop cap. Frankly, in 1v1, most factions 100pop armies are just barely adequate (which is a good thing, as it forces you to make interesting decisions). Adding pop to the Flak HQ would seriously screw up OKW's late game. |
Something I've been thinking about: Just because people don't use HTs doesn't mean they couldn't be used effectively, both for on-field reinforcement as well as transporting/supporting troops around the map. Think of the halftrack as a vehicle like the T70 that has more utility and less direct combat effectiveness: It still lets you win fights on the flanks, but also can support your main force better than a light vehicle in some ways.
I suspect the issue is there is an APM burden that might, frankly, go beyond the skill level of even the best players in the community currently. Hell, I see many of the top 10 players not using control groups, even when they have multiple vehicles. I don't think there can be any debate that having to click or drag select units in battle is far less than ideal. I don't know if any professional RTS gamers in any popular game would ever play without control groups (unless you were playing Zerg in SCBW). |

I've often wished halftracks could be used more (especially on big maps) to actually transport troops. I wonder if reducing the time it takes to enter and exit HTs could be decreased without it being abused somehow. |
Exciting game. Weird that your opponent was clearly skilled, but he microed his grens/MGs like he doesn't know what cover does. WP man it looked so over when the first SU-85 went down, lot of people would have quit. |
Note that moving accuracy modifiers have nothing to do with accuracy vs infantry; this is controlled by moving scatter modifiers.
The only tanks to have ever had lower-than average scatter modifiers are USF tanks and OKW tanks.

They are so quick that glide shots are pretty easy to land if you're microing the cromwells. I think this is good as otherwise you can just right click past enemy inf and wipe them on retreat, now there's a micro burden to do that. Does make it harder to micro other units in big battles. |

Do both shots always penetrate (I figure this is an obvious yes but thought I'd ask) and do both shots do damage? |
I watched the replay, you really didn't. Maybe I misremember, feel free to tell me the timestamp, but I never saw him a-move all his units anywhere. You lost because that side of the map is really hard vs OKW and your multitasking lost you a bunch of squads, plus you had some poor engagement choices. He didn't blob his units except for maybe once, and one other time he grouped 3 volks (the engagement where you lost your rifles and flamer). |
