I think they should have a brief fire-up or something when the satchel ability is activated. In order to make a soft retreat an option after satchel. Apart from that it's true what has been said above about the contradiction that it is a long-range unit equipped with short range specialty weapons. But try seing it as a feature rather than a problem. I think we're getting too conventional here, expecting each unit to be clearly either AI or AT, either short or long range etc. I appreciate that the game leaves room for creative strategy but mixing odd abilities. We don't want all strategies to be Zerg-rushes, do we? In: COH2 Balance

In how many games do you never need either AT or vehciles/tanks? Close to zero, I think. Your investment in AT or vehicle is far from deadweight. Maybe the german bunkers force you to tech earlier than planned, but what you build from it will hardly ever be wasted. And remember that the mg on the bunker costs him ammo too. AMmo he can't use for mg42s. i dread getting an AT gun when im trying to get more anti infantry units out to counter grenadier spams, then boom a bunker plops down and forces me to get AT gun, while he continues to pump out more infantry units to dominate the field. If the OH player is building bunkers, you can't be dealing with gren spam at the same time. He can't use the same MP twice. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Mass Mortars30 Jan 2014, 09:40 AM The SU mortar is not the problem. It's the Group of 3 82mm OH mortars with that insane firerate that can be a real pain. Normally I do counter-mortar, but it's not viable against 2+ mortars. Wheeled or tracked raiding is needed, but ofc a PaK will be neaby to look out for. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: So, about that seven-hour game...30 Jan 2014, 09:37 AM I had a 4 hour game once in vcoh on that 4 player map that has a hill behind walls on the upper right side (forgot the name). The axis kept throwing tanks at us, but the Allies kept surviving just barely and then managed to recapture enough of the map to have ressources enough for the next blitz. Yes, you guessed it: annihilation game. And 2 or 3 hour games were not unusual on Vire River and that other river map (damned memory). Even with VPs on. In most cases ppl drop out of 1hr+games, though. So it's rarely much of an entertaining experience with such drawn-out games. But occasionally it can be a blast. I don't think any of the COH2 games I played lasted more than 1 hour. In: Lobby
