the fundamental difference is that CoH is no classic RTS, because of so many revolutionary mechanics: Resource nodes, Cover, angles, set up time, the system of soft counters, cutoffs etc.

your USF forward base gets bombarded so you retreat everything but you forgot or don't manage to deactivate the major retreat point so all your squads stand still and even get reinforcement by retreating squads when the pwerfer strike obliterate them |
you intend to retreat a low health squad. right in the moment when you click on squad, that model you're clicking dies so you only click on the ground, however you already pressed the retreat key, resulting in the selected full health squad retreating and the low health squad dieing in the process |
There a few member that are toxic in the community but they are not the majority.
AVRE/ST are badly designed since they main role is wipe out things which is a bad design for game with veterancy system.
With that design they can easily be either OP or useless.

i m still thinking about how many control groups to be assigned to inf units
for easier flanks i did 1-1st rifle/Gren etc.
2-2nd etc.
however then i don't have any for vehicles left

I have no idea why devs think pioneers should have an extra sight range than the other engineers in the game, but this is dumb. Ost already has the best HMG, the best none doctrine mortar and LMG, and strong line infantry. I don't see why they should have another strong advantage layered over this already strong faction.
It's already difficult enough to counter MG spam in the early game, the sight bonus makes it even more difficult to pull off successful flanks or can give spotting for their mortars while safe inside their own MG's firing arc when trying to counter with indirect fire. They should have the same sight as the other normal engineer units.

my usual layout is 1-3 is Inf, 6 is AT guns, 4-5 is arty |
