AMEN to that. I am easily less biased than this exclusive allied lover guy. I'm playing all faction at least, even if i play Axis more. I like balance and common sense, not bias.
if you are gonna bash someone for his sub-optimal playercard stats, at least show your own |
In vCOH they have what are called target tables - basically a massive database where units attacks could be modified not just generally using penetration, rate of fire, and so on, but versus particular types of units. A basic example is jeeps and bikes vs snipers - they had huge bonuses vs snipers, but were not particularly good vs. anything else.
It was massive and unwieldy, but it made balancing the game a lot easier. Things could be tweaked on a unit vs. unit basis. COH2 doesn't have that. That's why well microed light tanks can do absurd damage to heavy tanks, mortars can do significant damage to light armor and so on. It's just rate of fire and penetration vs an armor value. vCOH also had three different types of infantry armor, which was one of the main ways you created counters to difficult units (flame damage vs PE and Brits for instance) and created elite units that had better survivability late game (oh the days of the elite Ranger spam!). This sometimes created as many problems as it solved, but in the end, you got a pretty balanced game.
COH2 tried to get away from all that, but it's naturally more cartoony. This is one of those basic design decisions that has destroyed the franchise. You really couldn't improve on what had been done design-wise for a WWII game. Relic clearly thought the commander system would give the game the long-term interest and complexity everyone desired, but that has failed to happen, as it just creates another level of balance problems.
unit to unit balancing seems nice but i don't want one unit to only perform better against one another unit and so on. it's too complicated.
i don't get what light tanks in coh2 can do absurdly large damage to what heavy tanks. or were you talking about coh1?
i would actually like to be able to swarm a tiger with 5 t-70s and have a chance of winning though. |
thanks! i will try the suggestions. |

point taken. we'll just agree to disagree.
on the flanking issue though, i don't think there is a simple way to fixing it. because some units just obliterate weapons teams flanking or not while others do only just enough damage to force retreat when flanking good. except when flanking with CE or RE. |
you give a long speech about how relic should fix the game but with one example, which is also a bad one. because of this, your essay boils down to "fix coh2/ make it more like coh"
your example(t70 v. pak) is bad because as the game stands right now, the pak will almost always get the a second shot off at any vehicle that does not reverse right away( and i do mean literally right away) as soon as they get into the pak's range.
and unlike you suggest, the t70 can and will die many times instantly from the pak's second shot. it won't always have that sliver of health left.
so i do not think there is anything wrong with that. but you do. but instead of presenting it as a possible issue, you declare it as an issue that need fixing, which does not bolster your stance... for me at least. |

People need to think for a second - I'm persoanlly never going to pay for the additional armies and or DLC's and why should I not be able to play ost anymore just cos I dont want to sink any more cash into a poorly made game?

what the hell does that have anything to do with this topic |
hi relic, im about to quit coh2 with my at friend because we just cant get over it to constantly play vs rank 2-30 in 2v2at while beeing rank 2000 ourselves. just no fun to get raped 9 times out of 10. btw i never saw such a moronic p2w system like in coh2, (even though its a full price game lol)
this again.... |
Shooting through a wall is just stupid. Plain stupid.
Thisn't a ISU vs JT topic, it's about a jagd on the field being a complete gamechanger / breaker.
2 Packs on the side or some tigers in the mix and it is impossible to deal with in 2v2.
It's just a fucked up unit, really relic.
totally agree. it isn't about Jagdtiger v. one unit it's Jagdtiger v. all enemy armor. shotting through walls not only makes it OP but a god in maps like lazur factory or angermuende,
i mean it'll be different if allies infantries are better than axis infantry in late game or their infantry-based AT is superb. i guess vetted 57mm with at rounds on is superb, but lol at obers wiping weapons crew at long range. |
whats the new dlc shrouded in mystery? |
