1. if FRP is removed, we'd be removing it from 3 out of 5 factions.
2. - FRP affects teamgames way more
- post WFA factions are overperforming in this area for whatever other reasons + FRP
- so removing FRP can be treated as a normal nerf to these factions in teamgames, nothing more dramatic

locking FRP behind later tiers so it comes later.... I disagree. yes, making it come later will make people be more cautious with it. but I still believe that no one should have ability to hard retreat but still save time - that goes completely against hard retreat. hard retreat gives you exceptional resistant to small arms in exchange for requiring you to go all the way back to your base. and I think the that particular system should always stay that way unaltered. well, it was altered, but change it back . this phobia of removing FRP makes me wonder how we ever played SOV and OST... and how some people still play them. and who's fault is that it is so Forward? it's the user. '15-20 second off of every retreat? nah that is too little - let me just push it a bit further...' to where many many med bases are set up where you shave ~60 sec off of every retreat... if mortar emplacement has range on your med base, if katyusha, stuka has range o your FRP without moving up to or very close to the front line (in even match), it is probably the user's fault. Can somebody explain to me how did we come to the misconception that having access to FRP magically makes your blobs more punishable to artillery than not having access to FRPs?
This is misconception - the latter quote. Yes, the FRP promotes, or at least it is more friendly to, blobbing tactics but it does not force you to. A good player who does not blob with OST will not magically blob just because he has FRP as OKW. A FRP user losing half of the army to one barrage loses the units because they suck not because somehow the FRP made his strat/tactic weaker. .......................... to all asking what to give the three factions if we remove to Retreat ability - in my opinion, just making OKW base building and UKF field base 2x health would be enough. maybe OKW med base can come with healing, too. in terms of USF ambo, you really don't need to do anything. USF ambo comes out fastest and it heals. @Highfiveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee if you don't use major recon and arty, you are missing out. those are incredibly affordable and essential abilities that comes non doctrinal-ly. everybody go ape-shit about USF not having non-doc mines yet they forget USF is the only faction with non-doc offmap arty and recon plane. i have no problem with WFA+ engi units having advantage in principle. except that now they have just too much advantage. In: COH2 Gameplay |

the key word here is "retreat" I'd argue that a skillful user can use SOV and OST halftracks more effectively than FRPs. But it is a micro drain not only because you have to soft retreat and manage a fairly squishy vehicle but you can't afford to be suppressed. And there is an opportunity cost of not going Quad and Flame, which is big, proven by how many people including top players go for the upgrades. Also of course the fact that you cannot hard retreat to use this strat effectively. That is why I think the SOV and OST halftrack reinforcing is balanced even if we remove FRP from other factions due to micro sink and opp. cost halftrack play style entails. and it's balanced. ---------------------------- now Forward Retreat Points on the other hand does not let you reinforce at the frontline but let's you save anywhere from 20-60 seconds off of all your hard retreats. AND I do not want to remove FRP for balance reasons - I've dealt with it for 3 years, we all know how to counter it. What I don't like about FRP is that it is a very powerful tool that does not require micro and simply does not promote smart strategy or tactics - it promotes head butting gameplay and simply put, i don't think CoH2 should help those kind of stupid and depth-less playstyle. So it's not really about balance, giving everybody FRPs whatnot, but rather looking at FRP and seeing if it promotes good fun gameplay or bad gameplay. In: COH2 Balance |
