As much as I hate to say it, I don't buy the whole "they were super experienced" line. Troops sent to a penal detachment strike me as looters and 'cowards', not sane individuals who tried to improvise. I would say just make them into cheap (200 or less MP) 'suicide' troops with team weapon Mosins (less DPS iirc) and the satchel ability, and make them fit only for "I want THAT unit dead" duty.
Then we can move the SVTs to Guards as an upgrade and undo their silly "huehuehue PTRS team" getup.
Add a cheap (240 MP) four-man PTRS team with a pair of PTRS' to T2 as an anti LV option (note, this is still T2, so it's no worse than facing an ATG in terms of teching) to finally give the Soviets some reliable non-doctrinal HHAT. Guards become ranged AI elites, while shock troops are your CQB go-tos.
I like this idea very much. |
Radio intercept for ostheer too. I don't see relic removing that ability anyway.
It's called "Interrogation technique" and it's far better than "Radio Intercept". Problem is 75% of the German player base either forgets it exists or don't have enough skill (macro I guess) to use it frequently. |
I have great results by incorporating German sniper into my BO. I don't focus on counter sniping but I go for MP bleed wherever I can trying to focus Soviet snipers with my Grens or any other unit that fits the purpose.
Seriously German sniper is a beast. The key is to use it in a proper way.
When Soviet will go for a scout car I'll try to ambush and Panzerfaust it from ambush.
Soviet sniper spam is still a heavy matchup but at least I can delay his tech long enough to get myself some vehicles while staying in line with tech. |
So I've played few 3v3 as a German recently, just for fun, and my God how bad majority of German players are. No tactics, no positioning, no setting up traps, only moving around the map in a blob straight into defensive Soviets positions. Mg42s as a spearhead unit, often left alone without any support, Tanks diving deep into enemy lines by themselves, Half tracks used as first line offensive units etc.
Occasional I'd get a decent player in my team and I would have a decent game but that's rare.
I don't even know what's the purpose of this post but at least now I know why there is such a big whine on this forum and overall opinion that Germans are underpowered.
-sigh- |
Since when MG42 requires more micro than Maxim?
Yes you have to reposition MG42 sometimes, especially when you're using it more aggressive, but Maxim you have to adjust almost all the time because it's so easy just to crawl out of its fire arc. Maybe in 3v3 mode Germans just keep walking in a blob straight into your machine gun but that's definitely not the case on my ELO level. |
Thread: Ram 4 Mar 2014, 12:42 PM
if one ram can counter the panther then its role as dedicated tank destroyer is no longer valid . you better stick to the p4 as their are far less risks involved. by the time you have your first panther you can have 2 p4's out and working on the third. while micro may safe your panther one wrong move and its gg. so i rather not take the risk.
Ram counters your Panther because you're letting your opponent to do this. There's the key to your problem. Think how you can avoid ram and try to apply this in game. |
Thread: Ram 4 Mar 2014, 11:27 AM
[...]At the moment its simply not viable to use the panther at all. if one ram can knock it out then your best of spamming p4's. but that makes for a boring game where the only viable german tank is the p4 to counter t-34 spam.
What a bunch of ... Have you even consider that the problem is not Ram itself but you and how you handle your units? Have you ever consider to make the effort and improve your skill? Sorry but when I read that Panthers aren't viable it just makes me wonder. The best AT tank in the game not being viable?
|
No. They're designed as one time use unit. Changing reinf. cost would create balance issues especially that they cost 120 MP. |
Thread: Ram 2 Mar 2014, 22:42 PM
Oh man imagine the outcry if they actually did give Soviet T-34/76 gun upgrade and get rid of ram completely.
As the old saying goes: "be careful what you wish for - it might come true" |
IS2 is not even half as scary as ISU-152 in regards to squad wipe potential nether the less it's considered an ultimate Soviet tank almost equal to a Tiger.
I think the real problem here is that German infantry struggles to survive all this direct and indirect fire coming from Soviets late game due to 4 men squad size. Maybe this is something that needs to be look at? |
