So because Shocks are special (they're not, they come with like 5 commanders), they should be infallible? Shocks already have good guns, smoke grenades, grenades (way better than Ost grenades), and a 2.25 armour rating (highest infantry armour in the game). They don't need the ability to walk through machine gun fire and wipe out the crew.
If anything the points are reversed. If a Panzergrenadier squad is suppressed by Maxim fire, you can either try to crawl away or retreat. If a Shock Troop squad is hit by MG 42 fire, they can pop a smoke grenade, walk out, and go around to kill 'em if the gun isn't supported (or hell, maybe it is, not like those Osttruppen or Grenadiers are gonna stop those Shocks, at least not before they can kill the MG).
You want defeat 440MP with 240MP? I you use MG42 and PzG (or sniper), you win everytime.
In your logic i want my Zis-3 win everytime versus panther.
OMG people. This is one hardes game ever. I play many times, but offten i still play as newbie. Micro, right units and timing abbilities. You must learn this game years, before you can be good. I am not, but hard work on it. |
And if I don't blob them, you think it's OK they get killed on retreat?
If I use high-end commander abbility and pay lots of muni? Yes
If most expensive abbilities do nothing, why have it? |
It already does apply to the Maxim though. Panzergrenadiers are as elite as German Infantry gets, and they hit the dirt half-way through the first Maxim burst. Tell me why Soviet Infantry should get a pass on the Ost's (technically superior) MG?
OMG, flank Maxim. His cone of fure is small.
Shock Troops are the best infantry. Need commander. Cost 440MP and have no AT option. I simply ask, why i cannot fight with T34 in the same way as with Panther?
OST can have PzG in the same time as ST and dont matter on commander. If you have good micro, you can fight 1on1 with using bundled grenades. |
In team games is OH much more easy.
Yesterday 80-90% OH in loby 3v3 and 4v4. |
at least incendiary barrage give infantry teams and weapon teams a chance to get out instead of instant wipe like precision strike does. if your weapon team got wipe by incendiary barrage is just you didn't pay attention to your units or didn't press "space bar" often enough
Soviet ZiS-3 have no chance get out of incendiary barrage. You lost men very fast. |
Lol, you only play Soviets anw =)
Calm your a**. I dont need something nefr, or boost. After patch i simply adapt my strategy. I just play and have fun with this Company of Whiners. |
I take OH mortar everytime i can. Is far better in fast and precise fire. Why pay muni for something, i can have with OH mortar in free autofire? And if you have problem with soviet mortar, try use counterbarrage. Work well. |
Thing is not every ostheer player uses the OP commanders
In team games you meat this commanders everytime. |
Clearly, that's exactly why the MG 42 was useless for quite awhile, the reason Ost weapon crews are all 5x more vulnerable than their Soviet counterparts, and the reason Soviet is considered overall better and dominates the leaderboards. One overpowered unit that happens to be on the German's team doesn't mean Relic are Nazis, that's ridiculous. It's like calling them Communists because Conscripts are better than Ostruppen or because Penal Troops are better than Grenadiers.
I don't remember anyone accusing Relic of being Nazi fanboys back when Panzer Elite wiped the floor with the Americans early-game, or when the King Tiger and Jagdpanther were introduced. Hell, CoH1 had literal ubermensch, Knights Cross Holders were the strongest infantry in the game, one squad could take on a Rifle Squad and come out with no casualties, they even took 2 sniper shots to kill, per man. And Stormtroopers with 2x StG 44 upgrade were even stronger, virtually unstoppable by infantry, anything that wasn't armoured melted before their eyes. CoH1 was a game where the unfit for service Volksgrenadiers were better fighters than the American's Elite Airborne division! Nobody cried Nazi bias over that.
I could go on but I'll stop here. This kind of shit is ridiculous though. They shouldn't be afraid to balance the game fairly and be called Nazis for it because Soviet players are mad that they can't just Red Tide everything and win.
MG42 is great support weapon.
Best infantry in CoH was Commandos
Balance was better. Germans get mortar in tier 2 and allies have elite AT infantry.
OH have better late game and is better for team games. Lack of AT on Soviet side is enorm.
70-80% people play as OH. More money for commanders. More whiners on forum, who every day star topic about every soviet ability and want nefr it.
Vlad play very well and is top player. He play both side and know this game. And he have sense of humor. |
I never intended it to be a serious suggestion, more of a fantasy idea than anything else. I just think it's a bit silly that Penal Troops are described in-game as worthless scum, but in practice are treated like skilled front line troops with fancy weapons that even Guards aren't allowed to have. Now maybe historically they weren't considered as worthless as I thought they were, but either way I'm pretty sure they weren't considered better Soldiers than the rest of the Red Army.
Even just listening to their voices is contradictory. "The real soldiers are busy", says the guy leading a squad of SVT's and Flamethrowers, while the "real soldiers" have Bolt-Actions that they can barely aim. "You need a suicide squad?" seems much more in-line with the literal suicide squad I outlined.
Maybe I'm just nit-picky, but there's a huge divide between their description and voice, and actual combat role in-game.
Only Relic wet dream. In Penal batalions was prisoned officiers. Well trained and well armed with best possible weapons. If they fight brave and was injured, they can go back they army position and rank.
PS: they never use helmets |
