The Pershing and Panther are almost identical in tank vs tank combat yet you're losing all the time lol.
IS2 has 340 armour and 1080 health, which is a huge defensive advantage over the Panther.
You are truly one of the worst players to ever play this game if you are consistently losing your heavy tanks in 1vs1 battles with Panthers.
Most importantly, good players use heavy tanks to bleed enemy infantry and as spearheads for their pushes - no one builds the IS2 to try to chase and counter enemy Panthers. That's what tank destroyers and AT guns are for. Please go back to the tutorial first.
I get what your saying but you can use IS2 and KV2 as a spearhead due to armor and AOE damage. What is the purpose of the Pershing? Take a hit or 2, reverse to RE and get repaired. At least it can run to them quickly while enemy gets VET for each hit. Its ability is a guaranteed hit that take a while to fire. Literally the antithesis to what the tanks strength is being sold as.
For the record I think IS2 and KV2 are fine, I just find the Pershing underwhelming for cost. Reducing the cost is probably the easiest fix or giving it a little oomph so that it has a place. |
Went with engi/clown car/penal x3. Early engi for capping and wanted clown car as early as possible to try and decap quickly. Once he saw my car he sent his entire force for it. He chased me down with 3 volks and sturm, he killed a engi squad and clown car but he was bled pretty bad so he retreated everything. Also made a rak which worked in my favor.
Got to CP2 pretty quickly so decided to make a Dshka and a smg penal since I havent used it in a while. I hid it behind trees and baited his sturm with injured penal squad. Got the wipe while he attempted to flank with his volks, got them suppressed and forced another retreat. Threw my Dshka in middle house so it could operate on its own. He made flaktrak to counter and tried to push my cutoff. My T70 and penal forced low health retreat, had a penal in retreat path to get the wipe while he attacked Dshka in building. I guess he didn't realize Dshka could do heavy damage without AT rounds to Flaktrak.
GG
Thoughts:
Probably not best map for SMG unit since map is fairly open but missed using my SMG Penals. I have been using Guards with Lmg more since it seems to take advantage of their durability better. |
It's not 100%, but 1.15 (1.61 with vet). AFAIK it multiplies by target's RA and after it you get chance of hit.
So lets say a unit has RA of .7 and vetted JLI shoot at it has 112% accuracy? That is crazy, even behind cover it would be 101%.
My biggest issue with Sturm is the moving while reloading, it allows player to be fairly aggressive with unit due to loss of drawbacks it once had. I haven't really played team games in a while due to toxic players but in 1v1 it does seem fairly easy to deal with once you know it is built.
Maybe give it heavy tank pricing so it is a lot harder to replace and field with other costly units. |
I feel the biggest issue with Pershing is the focus on mobility. Nothing can really reduce Tiger ROF, IS2 armor, or KV2 deflection damage. However mobility is easily removed with AT snare. I think the Pershing could be more aggressive if snare didn't work until 60-70% health. No change to mines though. |

Played Spitfire again today, got my revenge.
I assumed he was going Falls since it worked well for him last time, I decided to counter with Airborne. Went with Engi/penal/car/penal x2. Opening didn't start to good got some bleed but not much. He did make a panic Rak which let me push harder with more Infantry. Made Dshka and Airborne Guards to counter Falls and bully Volks. Got T70 out and took momentum of fight, got some Ober wipes which really helped keep his army from snowballing me. I guess he remembered our last fight so he stalled for panther so I was able to make T34 and Katy around when he got his tank out.
Katy didn't do much but it did stall him and cause a few retreats. His panther didn't do much as I ran away every time he tried to force the issue. Caught him out of postion hit him with a AT strafe which did a little damage but caused him to panic so I was able to kill it. He got another panther out and after building up my T34 reserve waited for my chance to rush him. Got him stuck between a building and my tanks, AT strafe hit him GOOD, maybe 50-60% of his life and my tanks cleaned up. No lose of tank so Game is now leaning heavily in my favor.
Decide to rush him to try and get some wipes while he is trying to rebuild. Quick rush and got his Vet4or5 Falls some other units and his Schwerer. At this point he is forced to hold out for KT which works for me, I got 5 t34 and AT strafe waiting to go. His KT trips a mine and it is go time, his tank is destroyed and the game is pretty much over.
Thoughts:
Airborne with x3 DP is great, good AI and great durability that is able to self heal. I normally don't make them since I hoard muni for AT strafe.
Penals with recovered Lmg are amazing.
2 engi opening has been paying off, helps keep tanks healed and back in fight. |
Played Spitfire couple days ago. Lost but was fun
Went Defense tactics with engi opening and clown car, got some bleed along with a lot of luck that kept car alive. Felt I did fairly well in early game so I made a T70 to press him. Didn't get many wipes but did hurt him and force retreats. He got his med tank first but didn't do to much with it, so I caught up and made 2 T34.
Caught him out of position and rushed him with AT overwatch. At this point RNG decided it no like me. My tanks shot the floor 3-4 times at basically point blank range. I got the kill but I needed 2 tanks and 200 muni to make it happen. He gets a Panther out and now I am on backfoot and never really recover. His falls and obers keep getting wipes while I do damage but no wipes.
Once more I catch his Panther out of Position but it takes 3 T34 this time plus AT overwatch to pull it off. I pretty much lost at this point, he calls out KT and puts me in my place.
For me, Def Tactics/Penals isn't to good vs Falls doctrine due to lack of Elite infantry to force bad trades. MG slows them down but boths obers and Falls have smoke to negate them. |
Some friendly banter through out game.
Two engineer build with Airborne commander, lost clown car early but was able to inflict bleed and some decap. Called in Mg but lost it in a building due to trying to focus down unit that was retreating. However at pretty much same time I was able to focus down enemy PG which I think helped me more.
Opp has more map but I called in T70 to try and change that. Didn't really get many kills but lots of retreats so it paid off. Was able to get my Med before he did so game is going pretty good. After some poking and prodding I got his P4 but lost one of my tanks. His AT guns are giving me hard time so I call in Katy which promptly misses but I keep barraging him and start to inflict bleed.
He calls in Tiger which I snare with PTRS Penal and try and rush with T34 but bounce galore saves him. I try to finish off with Penal but forced to retreat. Quick rush from injured T34 gets kill. Eventually he calls in another Tiger which required Ram, 2 more T34 and At strafe to take down.
However most of his army is AT focused so he hasn't caused to many casualties so I have enough to call in 3 more T34 at once. I whittle him down and he does one last push with tiger but my mine stops him and I swarm to victory. |
Started game with Engi/t1/penal/clown car. Wanted to have early capping power and try some decapping. Lost my clown car early, pretty much got nothing out of it. And the guy pretty much started to talk shit. I didn't respond, was pretty much just messing around but I didn't feel like he was playing particularly good.
I pretty much held on to as much as I had and tried to push him back slowly. He seemed to constantly just rush in with his infantry so I decided to make an aggressive bunker since I feel most OST players I face rarely make mortar. (It paid off, by the end of the game I think I got 3 wipes with it due to him moving around it, me meeting him in battle and bunker killing his team off.)
I made T70 to push game more in my favor, had him on the backfoot but damn teller mine got me. So back to defensive play, throwing down more bunkers and made a dshka to force him to retreat if he went around my bunker again. He has momentum right now but I still felt like I could beat him. He attacked my bunker with a P4 which let me know his tank was out so I started on PTRS penal. Hid behind a building and got my snare off, at this point T34 rushed him and barely got the kill. One of my Penals picked up a dropped LMG and game really went my way. IT straight melted one of his PG which took him by surprise. At that point game was heavily in my favor and he dropped.
Thoughts:
Bunker does a ton of damage, it really helped turn the game around for me.
Penal with LMG and vet is a beast.
Fuck teller mines.

For OST, isn't Faust unlocked for building T1. Weird requirement since you can"t build unit without it.
OKW was reworked and price of some building were split up so what your asking for is a discount. |
Tried same opening with extra engineer since it seemed to work decently.
Got some quick capping with engineer and saw he tried to rush my gas with his kubel but my engineer gave him pause which gave me a chance to chase with clown car. About 10 secs later I saw a 221 which threw me off, never saw someone rush that unit however I was able to push him back without losing to much. I pretty much controlled both gas due to his lack of units for a bit. I built some mines and bunkers on right side of map to slow down his recapping.
At this point, game boils down to me catching his tanks(P4 then JP4 then P4) out of position and rushing them with AT overwatch. GG
Some thoughts so far on Commander:
I dont know when or where to use AT gun, seems weak and useless. Rather use PTRS and save MP.
2 engineer opening is weak but does allow quick capping so it feels my go to for this commander.
MG with penal is strong, helps since there is no elite infantry.
Sometimes I feel I need a 4th Penal to push a little better. Mortar with sight does help with this a bit since it softens them up before the fighting really starts. Once it hits VET2, it softens them up a lot. A LOT. |
