I understand your frustration, pgrens ruined many games of mine as well. Figure, SU-85 is not an assault tank, it is made of glass and dies quickly to anything. But it has super long range, and best tactics to keep them far behind your troops. Let the infantry scout LoS for them so this tanks can snipe out enemy armor.
In terms of protection. Mines mines mines mines mines mines mines mines.
It costs 30 muni to place a mine that will kill 2 out of 4 models and more likely will make your opponent to retreat the squad since it costs a fortune to build pgrens equipped with pshrecks. When you line up your SU's try to picture the route the pgrens will use to get to your tanks and mine them.
Vet 1 infantry unlocks a very very very valuable ability - Trip Wire. I can guess that not all of you use it in the proper way. Place these dirt cheap flare mines all over the place to avoid a surprise attack and flanking.
Also, I've noticed that players use their pgrens squads in blobs so I guess any aoe artillery can beat them pretty bad if you get lucky. Well skilled player can easily avoid these barrages but if not... My favorite 100 muni Propaganda artillery doesn't kill these asshole pgrens but it sends them home and it might be a loooooooong way on some maps.
Only one unit can stand against pgrens - Shock Troops. They are super super expensive and you also need to get equal amount of troops. 3 pgrens squads on the field - 3 or better 4 shock troops against. These will cost a shit load of manpower so if you can't find enough resources to build them while your opponents sweep the floor with Panthers and pgrens with shreks - the game is over, you lost, just surrender to avoid humiliation.

And what is the range of SU85 and ISU152? Must be greater than 50, right? |
You are talking about rushing p4 which is ten tomes more powerful then T70.
If you compare building p4 and t34 the cost will be the same.
And p4 will still beat any t34 unless poor micro, mistake, bad luck and so on |
I had to fight Tiger Ace twice so far. Both games were 3vs3 on City 17 winter.
In first scenario TA was called in when soviet victory was obvious. Tiger managed to push my team mates off the map, scoring 50 kills in no time and stoping the vp clock. It also one shoted my vet3 SU76 which almost made my cry (it's hard to vet up these guys)
I had to throw on it everything I had. 2 SU-85 ( both were vet 1 and 2), AT gun and ML-20. AT gun went down first, then my opponent made a fatal mistake - he started firing at my infantry. My SU-85 got a nice chance to come from the side and they started pounding TA really really hard. Tiger killed vet 2 su85 and pulled back with very low health. His pioneers rushed to fix him, and that's when I called in a precision strike of my howitzer which finished Tiger with one powerful blow. I've checked the replay just to see if that was a gangbang but nope it was all me only.
In second scenario German player was a lot smarter. He never let Tiger go below 50%. He kept pulling it back and three (!!!!!) pioneer squads were fixing it within seconds. Also, he bought vet 3 for all pioneers which means that they could fix it even faster!
Such tactic caused really nasty drain of our manpower and we lost. I've noticed that using Terror Tactic commander helps a lot because here you get a powerful howitzer, a bombing run and propaganda artillery. Now, those leaflets only cost you 100 ammunition, yes they don't kill the infantry but they make them retreat. I scared those asshole pioneers away and dropped bombs on the Tiger bringing his health to like somewhat 20%. I wish I still had those nice SU-85 to finish him but it was to late - I've lost all my army and we were losing the game. |
Oh snap, I didn't know I could spawn partisans in the buildings behind the enemy line! I should try these commander one more time. |
Both have little staying power, and both come equipped with anti infantry weapon (mg42 lmg or dp lmg).
Irregulars cost 250, Partisans cost 140
Irregulars deploy from HQ, Partisans can deploy on-map using neutral structures.
Is it just me or is the pay2win version far superior...? Same role for half the cost with significantly more 'mobility'
Nothing to worry about. Partisans can't even cap points and they die like flies. However, it seems to me that the territory point falls to neutral in no time which in conjunction with other infantry can provide faster capping |
OMG, try play Soviets. AT Nade and RAM are dont effective against heavy tanks. I lost many T34 trying this.
In 3v3 and 4v4 Tiger Ace sound too strong.
Yeah, I just wonder how effective (if effective at all) soviets at nades, mines and ram are? Anyone has any info?
I can't wait to face Tiger Ace, this sounds so challenging. Did any1 beat it already? |
What is the name of commander that had DSHK and 7 muni mine?) just curious. |
I think the best solution would be to SPLIT the multiplayer in TWO portions.
First is for use of original commanders ONLY.
Second is for use of original commanders PLUS dlc ones.
If someone wants to play old school - choose first option in the game menu.
If someone wants to use these OP commanders for different gameplay - choose DLC option.
How simply it is?
Let me know what you think. |
I bought the commanders because I wanted the full online experience.
I did not buy the commanders because I support P2W.
I now hate the new commanders and consider Relic incompetent. Will not buy any more DLC. Fuck you for ruining the game I enjoyed so much, and fuck u even more if u deliberately made the commanders op to boost sales.
I totally agree. I've played 2 4vs4 games last night on the Soviet side, and I didn't understand yet if I enjoyed new gameplay. It just feels so different, so awkward. I wish things are back to old scheme. It was a lot more challenging to play for Red Army, and the victory was a lot more valuable and desirable.
Yesterday, we didn't even break a sweat to beat Germans. |
