More or less agree.
Flamethrower explosion I kind of like =P

Thinly veiled whine thread.
Why did you even mention the Ost sniper at the end when it's nothing to do with what you want to discuss? The ost sniper is fine btw.
Soviet arty won't 1 shot a triple vet panther. If a guards nade is killing a whole pg squad you need to micro better and spread your squad out ... or just dodge the nade.
There are similar things on the ost side as well. It sounds like you don't play both factions. The best way to learn about them is to play them yourself. |
I'd like a nerf to the Soviet Strafe (not the other things being discussed in this thread).
It does squad wipes on the reg and will kill a full health nebelwerfer.
I'd like it to do enough potential damage to reduce squads to 1-2 men, maybe kill them once in a blue moon, and reduce nebs to low health and criticaled.
Unfortunately, I'm fairly sure it's a lot more complicated than entering those limitations into the code and I think the strafe is something that will be very hard to balance between useful and too powerful. |
Google search Flames of War |
Rather than trying to find evidence that your losses are due to imbalance, I suggest you look at your own play. Try watching replays of games you have lost and try and think what you could have done to win instead.
Then try those ideas out in your next game where your opponent uses the same strategy.

Aerohank pretty much nailed it.
On a side note, can we stop thread titles with "Relic", this isn't anything to do with Relic.
PS. Not knowing how to incorporate units into your game isn't a balance issue. Perhaps you should ask for advice before blaming the game. If you still can't find a way to incorporate the units after getting advice, ask other players if they have the same problem. THEN, if they do, and you do, it might be a balance concern. |
In team games they are great for absorbing damage up front while your teams other AT guns and tanks dish out the hurt. |
If you're winning in tier 1 only then you are significantly a better player than your opponent. You've been cutting him off, controlling territory or inflicting high losses on him to do this.
If you're not teching something weird is going on. It's true Russians usually only use Tier 0 and 2 other structures in 1v1 (although not always). German's almost always use at least 3 structures, sometimes 4.
It's really all about adapting to your opponent. If your opponent is just staying in tier 1, then teching up you'll probably destroy him or her. Conscripts and Shocks can't stand up to flame halftracks, Cons + Guards can't stand up to Panzer Grens etc.
What I think you're criticising (lack of teching?) hasn't been something I've seen in 1v1 or 2v2 games. |
I've played with, and enjoyed using Irregulars. Needless to say the MG42 squads are worth about 10x the DP squads. They are extremely versatile having an LMG, the Guards grenade, and an AT grenade option.
Probably not the first choice for maximum competitive play but variety is the spice of life and makes for more fun when gaming =)

I wish he would do more than threaten and just leave. You can almost always immediately write off any thread that begins "Relic, ..."
