I get what you're saying about pay to win and I despise games like that. I get that only those guys who paid will get the strong units but you guys won without them and they are not the most OP thing I have ever seen. I think the cool down is too short as you can put out 6 in one minute and 6 seconds. The Soviet team will have to take back the map after that just to be able to afford upgrades for their conscripts and man power for other units in order to combat the Ostruppen spam; which is hard to do with the map capped up by Ostruppen in the first minute or two.
With stronger units and doctrinal things like Shocks, PPSH's and 120mm mortars you can wipe them out, even when vetted as your troops will have better vet at that point. To me it looked like you won easily and even had a few missed opportunities (Which is common in a fast paced hectic game like this one) that would have shut down the Germans earlier. An incendiary barrage next to their healing bunker when they had 2 flame Pios and 4 Ostruppen squads sitting there with their thumbs up their butts and a few times one of your teams tanks backed off when if supporting your teammates tank (even from behind with his LOS) would have won the armor engagement and forced a mass retreat of infantry and support weapons denying your infantry the area.
The bunkers were not new but the trenches they built were and I only saw a few of those. Bunker spam is probably what lost them the game as they were static units that only served an early game purpose once your armor hit the field. The German would have been better off getting mobile half-tracks to reinforce, Grens or PGrens for AI/AT and using the wasted munitions on 2 late game railway artillery barrages that missed retreating conscripts (a total waste of a lot of munis) to upgrade them with LMG's, use some rifle nades or get Shreks on the Pgrens.
The Ostruppen are strongest in cover as shown by the symbol they get above their head showing improved accuracy so don't stand out in the open and fight with them. You did right by hitting the dirt but several engagements (probably while microing elsewhere) you stood in the open and let them waltz right by and get inside buildings providing their buff. Your PPSH upgrades and Shock Troops were the right solution but consider Ostruppen Spam the same as Conscript spam or Gren Spam. It's all annoying when you lose to it but no one complains when they win with it.
Just look at tourneys that will have certain commanders preset and bulletins dis-allowed or the ESL league that only allows the 5 base commanders everyone gets. The guys who can't win while using those commanders and sound strategies won't be near the top in those and it will be a level playing field.
I hear what you're saying about P2W even though I bought the commanders. What I see it as is a DLC like Opposing fronts for $12 USD with a new campaign released as well that will cost you even more if you didn't get the D.C.E. It added new units, game meta and balance issues that had to be worked out and you only got them if you bought that game back when we were all just playing vCoH. I for one welcome more content as long as they balance it and balance it as quick as feasibly possible. I like that they hot fixed some units already like the Ass Grens. That was strong pre munition cost. Same story just later in the history of CoH...... |
Here is a GG I just played on Semoskiy versus BeN. I had a few mistakes (Like chasing down his Arty piece only to ass end my T34 to a Stug hiding in his base) I'd love feedback on. If anyone watches it I would love any and all feedback; i.e. tips or things I did wrong. Great game with the church falling, Arty, Tanks and all that fun stuff. |
I like the winter maps myself but I know a lot of players don't so I think an even mix is best. I also enjoy the summer maps and they were part of the Ostfront as well. I think that Winter maps create more babysitting micro with the snow drifts, blizzards and finding or building fires to keep warm but that helps keep my mind moving fast and improves my focus overall. At most I lose the odd member of a squad if I'm in a huge battle but I can usually find a building, halftrack or fire when needed. The icons on the upper right and audible ques about freezing give me enough warning.
As some have said the Fire radius could be enlarged but I feel by 33% but not more than 50% or it's pointless. I don't know about whether competitive scene jives with heavy Blizzard maps and casters don't like them because they can't see but I for one prefer to play my own game and enjoy the immersion/true sight before what a caster and audience sees after the match. (I know I may get flamed for that) It's a game and that aspect needs to be there if the blizzards and cold tech are a game mechanic.
It would be nice to remove the blizzard effect during replays but I don't see that as an easy option. Thanks for asking us Matt |
I've been playing in this 1v1 series and it has been a lot of fun. There are a lot of different skill levels so everyone can find good games. There are some great players like Symbiosis and Jesulin, just to name a couple and some newer players too. There are divisions and updates moving players up and down divisions every couple weeks (Not sure on exact time frame for division updates) and the best thing is match dates are optional and you schedule them yourself. The website is easy to use and matches are given in local time so no conversions to GMT. Replays and screen shots of the final VP counts are required for anti-cheat but it's all so simple to use.
You can play one match a month or as many as you can get scheduled but for the top division you need to have 8 matches between division updates. Like I said you schedule them yourself and can cancel up to 15 minutes before the matches start if something comes up. Match ups are made 15 minutes before the match time you scheduled. Even playing from the west Coast of North America between 11 am and 130 pm several days a week including weekend times I have found enough good matches to say this series will take off so check it out. By the way I'm not from ESL I just enjoy CoH2 and want this to take off. Check it out and if your signed up come get some matches. Even if you can't keep up with the top division or minimum activity get out and have some fun. That's what CoH2 is for. |
I had this problem one day a few weeks back and then it was fine the next day. I tried many times to connect then the next day versus the same custom match opponent were able to play no problems. If your ports are fine which mine and the one opponents I verified were then it's probably a server issue. I hope it resolves itself or gets fixed soon. |
That was an epic AI Rant Basilone. If the game is that bad I may wait a little to get on board until it's patched. Funny shit though. |
I thought I had this one early and over extended I think. if anyone can give me some pointers i would appreciate it. i should have won this game but threw it away. Maybe I was using T3 and ram too much. I also had an issue in the middle where he kept popping smoke and I couldn't kill a 5% P4 for like 2 minutes even when i was 5 feet away and knew he was there. |
Here is G2 of a best of 3 versus Jesulin for ESL Series for CoH2. He beat me pretty good so any input would be helpful as I will be playing him again soon. |
