It would just be another employee following whatever system they have in place and whatever goal the higher up are setting. I'm confident they have great people at Relic already, but I feel from the outside that their whole process is not ideal, and their priorities aren't either. +1 I don't think it could be said any better. But let's say the one team has to cache up to get nearly the fuel income of the other team, they build more cashes aswell and are way far ahead again. What works for map design in CoH1 does not work out for CoH2 in any way. No strat points, no variance between points, points give both muni and fuel. As such, you either have equal, uncontested resources and slug it out for VPs, or a winner-take-all situation. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Relic laziness with the new brit commanders1 Mar 2016, 19:25 PM The CoH1 doctrines, despite being locked into choosing one out of three every game, were far more dynamic. A lot of that has to do with the fact that there weren't loadouts that preemptively cripple or stack players. Plus there were two paths you spent your CPs on. This meant, for instance, that Armor Company for USF has both a Calliope AND a Pershing, but getting both out was an expensive struggle. Commanders are more of a once-and-done choice that 'finishes' your faction's design. This is more true for the Soviets and Ostheer (who have the lion's share of commanders AND overlap.) But their functionality still remains the same for the later factions. Remember, CoH2's early days were entirely designed around this business plan. Commanders were what completed the faction, not what augmented them for some specific strategy. The fact that people always, and still, call them 'doctrines' shows how ingrained the rejection of this design is. In: Lobby
Thread: Is SimCity a boring game mechanic to play against? 29 Feb 2016, 23:51 PM It's interesting how often "Allies" and "Axis" are used interchangeably with specific factions. OKW is not OST. USF is not UKF. UKF has more options to keep their emplacements alive, OKW has more options for killing those emplacements. Ostheer isn't exactly well situated to deal with UKF sim city, and USF is not well situated to handle the Schewerer Panzer. In: COH2 Gameplay

I think they were intending to fix things like camo portraits when the community found out. Making a map competitively balanced is also hard. Getting feedback whatsoever is hard. Until you have players the best you can manage is the AI or your friends' time to try a broken map. Best way for a map to improve is to have it played. Starting with a pretty picture is a whole lot nicer than starting with an ugly one. In: COH2 Gameplay
