The great thing is the vocal portion of the CoH1 community that haven't given CoH2 enough of a chance are going to be rusty, and their premature opinions on its failure in its first year of release, will become a lot less relevant when they're revealed to be thoroughly mediocre CoH2 players. Then hopefully they'll spend less time whining about its short-comings, and more time playing.
Disagree. Just look how the old faces were dominating CoH2 back when they were playing it (Aimstrong, Sepha, Twister, Symbi, etc). Good players are also good learners, so in theory even if they go several months without playing they will quickly reclaim their rightful place if and when they decide to return. However in reality the skill gap between the mid and high level players is considerably lower in CoH2 which is why myself and many others got tired of the game. Having a good understanding of strategy and timing, plus micro to match, isn't as rewarding when some random guy can just march around with LMG Grens, Shocktroops, or whatever the current unit of the month is, and give you a really tough game.
I haven't played the beta lately but from what I've heard its mainly balance issues, which isn't addressing many of the major complaints (just to reiterate: tech pace, blizzards, doctrine system, lack of global upgrades, paid multiplayer content). If Relic acknowledged those grievances and said they are working on it, and prioritized correctly, people would probably have a lot more patience with the game. But whenever someone provides design based feedback it either gets ignored, or it gets the usual "thanks for the feedback" and fuck all actually happens. You can't blame people for reaching their ropes end when they spend months giving feedback and possible solutions and then the only changes that ever happen are balance tweaks.
This is true, if you think about it the expansions in BF4 are maps and weapons.
Here we can create and we get maps for free and the weapons in bf4 are basically reskins so you could compare them to the CE commanders.
But the only down side to not buying a BF4 DLC thingy is not being able to join as many servers. They are not p2w, and collectively they are faaarrr cheaper than all the CoH2 DLC if BF3 was any indication (~$60 worth of map packs over a 1.5 year span, opposed to $250 worth of commanders, skins, ToV, and faceplate in less than one year )
Why? I don't see any other casters or streamers using their channels as a shrine to honor these demigods that came before them.

How would he invite someone that hasn't been active in the coh scene in almost 3 years now? I liked Harlequin but he wasn't the best thing since sliced bread. He was almost exclusively casting COHO, he had a fun tournament series, and he had a good voice and enthusiasm. But it stops there. Its not like he brought droves of people in to the game, he inspired me to get DoW2 (and I'm sure he got a few DoW players to buy CoH) but most his subs were probably already playing one of the Relic titles. He was like a very short lived Tales of Heroes channel at a point in time where there wasn't really any competition (after ToH, before TFN, before RnP, before Krebs, before Thirsty Thursday, before ImperialDane, and Inverse was just getting started). Aramonkg may have been active then, but thats about it.

The clip of StephennJF screaming in trending is a good example. That can be used to promote his full stream.
Promoting that will draw some attention to his channel, but not to the game. The only people that will even see it are the people that are already following Relic; and either currently play CoH2 or already bought and uninstalled (most likely the latter). There is no easy way around this, fix the core issues with the game instead of trying to insinuate that the thousands and thousands of man hours that were pumped in to creating content somehow weren't good enough, especially when you consider that a good bit of features that should help with that are missing from the game (rewind, observer mode, replay analysis tools, etc).
So if Quinn Duffy and the other higher ups either forgot or never knew why the game isn't a big hit among the CoH1 crowd, then send them to the private forums here so they can get filled in. Beta balance forums are pointless because these are mostly design problems, and if you iron out a turd it still smells like shit.
Then hopefully one day when the game is appealing the majority of the people that play it, you can pay someone like Angry Joe to review it and get CoH2 back on the radar. If he reviewed the game in its current state it would not be a pretty sight, though I would probably be laughing my ass off at Relic's expense.
And how the hell is the game in a terrible state right now? Because of these "pay 2 win" commanders? Well, elite is being nerfed into the ground and industry has been nerfed some more. The shortcomings like input lag and all that shit will be fixed with the new patch that's coming out.
Thats not the problem, its just one of the bigger and more controversial ones. There is blizzards, terrible optimization, rip off DCE, outrageously priced DLC, lack of global upgrades, doctrine design (even if they were all free its still a terrible system imo), lack of a mid game, super tanks that shoot over halfway across the map, and the really inconsistent and uber slow pace of the early game infantry engagements that would easily last several minutes if not for rifle nades and molotovs.
PS Both Krebs and Basilone were CoH) noobs,who tried to recreate a self-justifying back-history to exculpate themselves with the good ole boys,but that is another story.....
This thread is a huge slap in the face to all the casters that spent thousands of hours making content for this franchise and then you blame them for CoH2's shortcomings instead of analyzing why the game hasn't been much of a hit in the the competitive scene, or maybe trying to appease some of the problems with the core game instead of just changing the balance which at this point shouldn't be a priority.
Finally a quick plea to Inverse, and others, that haven't touched COH 2 in upwards of 6 months yet delude themselves into thinking they understand the state of the game - please play some CoH 2 before assuming things. The game now is WAY different (and way better) than it was back in the open beta/early release. The game is fun to play, takes more skill than most want to admit (because it is easier to cry RNG/pay2win than admit your own losses), and is beautiful to watch.
And in your case it is easier to take credit for being some super leet badass CoH2 pro, instead of just facing the facts that the game isn't nearly as competitive as its predecessor. Less strategic depth + lower skill ceiling = fewer high caliber players. So do what you always do and accuse me and Inverse and whoever else shares a similar opinion of being nostalgic elitist cavemen noobs that wants CoH2 to fail, but the reality is it would just make our day if CoH2 became the proper sequel we were expecting (and were told) it would be.
We all know most of those reviews are not legitimate.
Well the campaign was absolutely horrendous, and since it is becoming increasingly apparent that this game was intended to be a single player blockbuster rather than a highly competitive esports title, those reviews sure are legitimate.
Give one of the better casters (say Hans) a lucrative contract and youll probably see a lot more proffessional casts in coh2. Carrots sometimes do that to people.
Doing something like that would be pathetic, for Relic and Hans.
Still, I don't see how a so called "60Hz" screen would be undecent at showing games/movies/whatever. Simply because there's no noticeable effect if you play with 40, 50 or 100 fps. The only situation where this helps is during phases of intensed action where thosee 40 fps rigs fall below 30fps for short periods of time. The human eye can only dissolve 30 fps, everything above is just luxury mostly afaik. Of course, if you remove the frame lock a game will run faster (like double speed, or triple speed or even more, depending on the fps your rig generates), and this might look like it's running faster/smoother. But that's for different reasons..
30 fps motion does look pretty natural from a 3rd person perspective, but mouse movement gets much less fluid when you drop below 50 or so. Its almost the same effect if you suddenly decreased the polling rate on your mouse by about 20-50%, its a pretty noticeable difference and obviously detrimental in FPS games. My graphics card is just good enough to run most games over 60 fps, but its also 'mediocre' enough to drop well below 60 fps on certain games when vsync is enabled.
Arma 3 maxed out runs more consistently than CoH2 on low settings (AA off, physics off, snow quality lowest, 1280x720) on my mid range card, so at worst you need like a 6970 or a 660ti or you're just going to be face palming the whole time.
