Unless you're a sucker for getting constant 60fps on cutting edge graphics games like Witcher or Far Cry with everything maxed out, I would just get a GTX970 and invest an extra $100 in something like a i5 4790k. I'm happy with my i5 4430 + 970 setup, but the few times my system is tested its usually in the CPU department.
edit: definitely go for high end processor over double 970s if you have any interest in streaming/recording
My single EVGA SC 970 runs the vast majority of games I play 60fps w/ high or ultra settings. The exceptions are some not so optimized indie games (Squad and Ark Survival ~45fps), open world sims (Arma/Kerbal), Fallout 4 (40fps in the graphically intensive parts of downtown otherwise smooth 60fps) and GTA5 (a few ugly stutters thanks to cpu bottleneck).
War Thunder, BF4, Battlefront, Rainbow 6 Siege, Wargame, Skyrim, Red Orchestra, and others run ultra at close at 100fps if I uncap the refresh rate. With 2 970s @ 1080p you will max out everything 60fps no prob unless you're playing something extremely CPU dependent (like Arma 3).
Recently, I've lost to players who are a few hundred ranks below me, but I've also beat players just over 100 (about 200 ranks above me).
Nothing out of the ordinary, its not like ELO is a golden rule for who should win a given matchup. Shitty players spam games and have inflated rank, some people streak off consistently getting matched vs far inferior players, people have good or bad days, people sometimes to lose to lower ranked players when they do something unorthodox, sometimes you get the shitty side on an imbalanced map, people return after extended breaks with a new patch and don't know the current meta, etc. If you're in the top 50 and lose to someone that got the game 2 weeks ago then maybe you should scratch your head after that one, but a bunch of white kids from Yale beat Baylor last week so it shouldn't come as a surprise when a rank 300 RTS players lose some games to people that are #500.
COH1 isn't as dead as people make it out to be, you can get 1v1s really fast at most hours. The community is dead, not really anymore tournaments or shoutcasts.
COH1 pros:
less is more > more strategy
much more optimized
buy ToV for like $10 or less and you're all set
cons:
you can only reliably get 2v2+ games going in European prime time
COH2 pros:
game gets patched often so the meta game isn't stagnant too long
more active community
cons:
all the multiplayer dlc will cost you like $200 not on sale
content bloated
not optimized for shit
50% of the "balance" patches leave the game worse off than before
way more WTF squad wipes
As you can see (if you are infact capable of opening the spoiler) i was higher ranked in all 5 factions than you ever were with your precious sovjet.
I cannot help but laugh at your childish attempts to post on these forums, considering you dont even play all factions or are even half-decent with your 1 faction of choice.
To this day i think you're actually a hard core troll, for i have trouble believing anyone can be as stupid as you.
Do everyone (including yourself) a favor and stop posting all together.
People like you should just stick to playing campaign or vs ai.
I love the criticisms of a mapmaker by people who have never even attempted to make one.
Think you can do better?
Put up or shut up. Or at the very least show some damn manners.
Entitled whiny babies. Good lord.
Whiteflash always got non mapmaking friends to test his maps and give feedback on how it played. Not endorsing being rude, but you don't have to be a mapmaker yourself to have valid opinions on something that can be changed or improved.
Wargame is very good. The mechanics of sight/recon/stealth are hard to learn since there is no FoW but its one of the most satisfying games once you get a grasp on it.
Kluge you literally can't go more than a few days without high horsing about how much you contributed. You came on late in the game in COH scene. You made a few news articles and did social media stuff, and mostly just chatted in twitch 8 hours a day. Get over yourself. At least half of the staff that came here from GR including Bud, Marcus, Hicksi, Remy, Ami, ntd, Purlictor, Pez, Tommy, Inverse, Twister, myself put in more work over our time on staff. I'm not even considering personal twitch streams or youtube channels. I mean logistical work; mentoring, tournies, anti-cheat, game feedback, map testing etc.
OKW and USF need some reworking to handle snipers better, but limiting snipers (or any unit) is not the answer. Snipers are the counter to pure infantry spam, AT gun spam, etc. When poor army diversification gets rekt by its hard counter, there is nothing wrong with that.
They should improve the game rather than distract us with prize pools. Change the commander system, reduce insta wipes, and optimize. Content bloating is a bigger issue in COH2 than it is in BF4.
