The game is about unit preservation and that includes ST. I have explain why they should be entities and you are entitled to have a different opinion so I see little reason to continue this.
Look storms specially in Encirclement Doc is more like partisans(if only partisans were good that is). You don't care if they comeback or not(cus what else are you supposed use em for exactly). For German Infantry they are more like mandos go behind enemy lines and f shit up (I feel like this doctrine you can use em pretty well). For Elite Troops, yeah they don't make sense. For that doc specially they should be made into a different unit like combat storm troopers or something. |
That's just getting down to semantics. 40% is 10 more percentage points than 30%. There, you happy?
Also gib commandos tac assault, gib stormtroopers ambush bonus, gib commandos flamenade, gib stormtroopers gammon, gib stormtroopers demo, gib stormtroopers 5 man, gib stormtroopers "commando" name, gib commandos "stormtrooper" name.
They're different units filling the same role, and they aren't identical. And that's fine.
I'm a math man so nitpicking on numbers is my thing. Also, i wan't smoke retreat for the cool ninja factor and nothing else, it's the moderator who want's to swap vet bonuses. |
cause i made multiple photo at different time lines, the cover were created to make them stand in a line so they are all at perfect range However they had distance of more than 10. For ass section and thompson cav riflemen their 2 thompsons have profile similar to stg's and dont drop as fast as regular smg's. That might have contributed to the results. |
Ok, I guess my opinion is somewhat controversial, but for me none of the numbers (about price or DPS) or who beats who that is listed in the OP is relevant to answer the question if AssGrens are too good.
This is strictly from a 1v1 perspective, but I'd tend to look at different numbers; in this case I'd look at the numbers of the meta in the World Championship.
Are AssGrens so OP that OH won every game? Turns out: No. Well, either that, or the top players simply didn't recognize that they are and hence ignored OH for the most parts. I'd trust the judgement of the players there...
Alright. Ok, but maybe the AssGrens are still too good, there are other faction related factors that led to OH being played significantly less?
Well, let's look at the commander and unit counts then:
We had 41 games for which we had the commander choice. Indeed Mechanized assault and Strategic Reserves indeed were used... 11 games in total. So, AssGrens are apparently not good enough to get player to always chose a commander that has them. In fact, they used such a commander only in roughly 25% of games.
Also, out of these 11 games, only 4 where won. As oppose to the other two Tiger doctrines Lightning War and Spearhead which actually featured positive win/loss ratios! So, either the top players didn't play these Commanders, or the Commanders are meh, despite having AssGrens; either way, it doesn't look "too good" for AssGrens.
The fact that they saw some play at all and in a notable number of games (although far from the majority of games) indicates that they are in a way better spot than they were in previously. But the "too good" doesn't hold up.
Disclaimer 1: Again, this is from a 1v1 perspective, 2v2 and up might be a different story.
Disclaimer 2: We are looking at top players here. I totally get that at lower skill levels AssGrens can be hard to deal with. I know, I'm pretty bad (well, used to be around average), and I had problems dealing with them even when they were worse. But apparently this is really a L2P issue on my side, so...
Can you please explain at what point I said they were op??? at what point I said they were the cause for axis winning streak?? at what point i said they were hard to deal with??? The too good part is referring to the fact despite their cost they quite decent units at doing their jobs. |
Their role is to disconnect areas in order to use "close the pocket".
One could add sight so they can be used as spotters.
they already do that well. Their job involves them never returning. |
i hate that commando ability but the ability has some style to it no??? |
I removed cover u can literally see it
btw this prove u didn't test and just made it up
How me commenting on your test proves my test were made up. And how can I be certain at which point you removed cover. Also I never said flamer engines , I mentioned upgrades with associated units |
I'm talking about the difference between vet bonuses.
And accuracy translate as direct damage increase unless the accuracy value goes over 100% after taking into account the RA of the enemy unit. Therefore if you have -10% accuracy through vet, your DPS increment is reduced by that same value.
1.3/1.4 is not 10% loss. Neither is 1.4/1.3 a 10% gain |
Having 5 member does not mean it has to be better in combat, it mean it has a better chance of surviving retreating from behind enemy lines and lose less DPS per Model dropped.
What would be the point of surviving if they can't do anything useful. |
Yes it will, currently ST performance is very RNG due to the high DPS drop off when they lose models.
I have seen them win and lose fights that they should not.
I would want to make stroms from elite troops be more combat focused instead of infiltration. There is a weapon in the game files called sturm_pioneer_mp44_smg_mp which is not used by anyone in game. We could perhaps modify it to boost it's damage at all ranges specially mid and long so they become more like generalists combat oriented like ir obers. Also giving them 5% more RA bonus from vet would be good. |
