This might shock you, but here goes:
1) You don’t ambush CQC infantry with Stormtroopers.
2) You ambush unsuspecting squads, meaning you catch them moving or in negative cover.
3) You have a bonus out of camouflage.
4) You have stun grenades with Elite Troops doctrine.

OK, before I say anything This is not a stormies suck/up thread, I just want to learn and understand also I don't exactly know which thread this kind of question should belong to so if someone can me what section i should have posted this, that is much appreciated. OK, on to my question.

At range 0 to 10
Commandos: 82.5 dps
Shocks: 85 dps
Storms: 75 dps
thompson rangers: 85 dps
'' paras: 95 dps
Now, I'v been told that the dps of storms are high enough or they kill plenty fast. However they deal much lower dps compared to the other units(here i'm only considering weapons crews , i know they 1.25 RA). Now let's say that this is enough, and simply the other squads have more than enough, But here is the thing,
commandos used to have: 70 dps
shocks used to have: 75 dps
In the ball park of stormies but they were buffed. If that kind of dps was not considered enough for them who only face 4 man support squads who are also more sluggish compared to the allied ones then why is the dps of the stormis considered enough.
Also most of these squads have nades which cam be used to clear out team weapons or finish them of in retreat. But storms do not.
Now storms have tactical assault but para's also have this who have the highest dps out of all of them. So if the para's already high dps is considered no enough that they must have that ability to improve their dps than how is it that the mp40 storms dps is considered enough. |
As the title says I just had a 'wild idea'. Note ahead: I assume this change is too far fetched to implement it, but I still would like to know what people think of it.
Make OST T3 and T4 mutually exclusive.
Then lower the tech cost of T4 by a bit of fuel. Maybe also T3.
These two buildings have a huge overlap and basically offer both an AI, an AT specialist and a wild card vehicle. But the faction would not lack too much apart from maybe some AA if it goes T4.
T3 will be the more aggressive playstyle trading a short midgame bonus for less power in the late game. t4 is basically the other way around. Delay your vehicle for a more powerful late game unit.
Can't talk too much about 1v1, but in team games I sometimes played T4 only. You don't necessarily need a medium tank, AA can be done by the classic 'lul I shoot doen planes 222' (although it's quite whacky) and getting a Panther or Brummbär ealier is quite an advantage.
I'm not saying that this change is better than a slight T4 tech buff, that I fully support it or whatever. I just want to throw it out there into a 'what if' scenario. What if Relic had designed OST in that way, would we maybe be better off.
I'm pretty sure this will only make things worse for T4. If T3 is cheaper there would be no point in going T4 ever. T3 units are simply too cost effective and less risky even in team games. Would it not be better to make T4 units more suited for offense.
1. reduce the panthers hp to 800, increase armor to 290 , improve moving acc.
2. make brumbs bbb free but reduce it's standard range to 20-25.
3. give werfer more armor , 320 hp + an mg

Shocks are overpriced - I refuse to make them, bc of severe mp bleed.
Soviets lack technology - axis has lots of stuff
Snipers are overpriced and fragile like an old lady.
I am fine with how the units perform, but they are overpriced.

airborn guards are useless
PTAB sucks
Sovs have no field defensive structures where even the USF the most aggressive faction has them.
Sov elite infantry despite being more expensive and doctrinal are weaker than the cheap section.
