The 51st Highland Division had been digging in along the river for the last few days, holding down any river crossings in case the Germans tried to break through in their sector.
And they did. A supported assault by the Führer Grenadier Brigade went off in their sector as part of Sicklecut aimed at cutting off 30th Corps and isolating it.
And a video looking at the Grenadiers and how they could be improved upon from my perspective.
1st SS Panzer Corps was beginning to run out of steam and the allies seized upon the opportunity, striking with the 11th armoured and 29th infantry division. But the 1st SS Panzer Division was still able to fight and so things did not go quite as hoped.
The Russians had managed to establish a crossing over the River. Corps command was in an Uproar and a Kampfgruppe was swiftly created to deal with the interlopers. The 7th mechanized Corps in the meanwhile was in full swing bringing equipment over and preparing defences.
Private Heinz could barely feel his fingers in the cold. He'd been standing sentry for hours now. And no sign of those damn russians.
As he began rubbing his hands together he could slowly hear something in the distance. The rumbling of engines. "Sheisse" he grabbed the flare gun and fired a warning. Hoping it would not be too late. As for him.. Who knew ?
And a quick propagandacast lehr for tips on how to make the most out of Semoisky north.
Private Peters threw himself to the ground as the house infront of him exploded. A direct hit from German artillery, killing the rest of his squad. He was the only one to succesfully escape. The 2nd Panzer Divisions assault had been expected. Just that headquarters got the timing wrong. And the boys at the front were paying the price.
Klaus really didn't like those Hungarians. But he had to work with them as the 9th Panzer Division's panzergrenadiers were mostly depleted yet the Americans had endless reserves. Before them was the 3rd Armoured Division. And all they had were old model Panthers and Panzer IVs to challenge them along with Hungarian troops.
A quick tactical highlight looking at scouting, flanking and smoke.
As the Americans got ever close the Lorraine OB West got nervous and committed the 112th Panzer Brigade to an attack in an attempt to blunt the Advance. The 1st Armoured Division would feel the wrath of the Reich.
"1st Company is currently encountering resistance at what was thought to be an abandoned farmstead, 2nd company has run out of fuel for the trucks. So we only have 3rd and 4th Companies available for the attack on the Amis" Major Schaefer looked at the map with the positions of the 29th marked on it. We'll attack along this side road on the western perimeter of the farm village. That should allow us to outmaneuvre and cut off their retreat path as well. I just hope we get the Panzers as promised.
"Captain you're holding the map upside down" "Shut up Earl" Orders had come in to assemble for an attack against the Panzer Lehr Division to halt their advance and protect the flank of the 1st Armoured Division. But all Captain Jones had to work with was a Light Tank Company and a bunch of Scraggly GIs. Perhaps he could call in a few favours...
They were getting closer to Warsaw. He could feel it. But as Captain Pavlov was leading his company down the road suddenly the air became alive with bullets. The fascists were upon them !
And with all the recent talk of Panzer IIIs. I decided to make a video with my thoughts on it.
