Since T1 now has no fuel cost attached to it. But Pgrens and Rifle Nades are bound to BattlePhase 1 and the AT Gun to the T2 building, no? Thread: Vehicle Usage Tips14 Dec 2020, 16:20 PM An AT gun is not a deterrent to not assault with a vehicle anymore. It just changes the way you have to approach. If you have a very mobile vehicle like a 222, shoving it into the enemy flank, forces him to react. He will turn his at gun and maybe rush a conscript unit over, to get an at grenade off. A frontline assault then would mean that the AT-gun cannot use an artillery barrage onto incoming units, as it faces the vehicle and the conscript squad would be out of position. With heavier vehicles, just smoking the at gun is a way to deal with them. Beware of them using attack ground though (so can you though (; ) AT Infantry could be engaged with a vehicle to draw them in with kiting and then punish them by suppressing them with an mg or using a cheeky grenade. If the unit retreats, you can push in further and get more usage out of the vehicle. The general mindset is, to be wary, but not overly cautious. Light vehicles are fast enough to outrun turning at guns at closer ranges, heavy ones can soak up a bit damage before having to turn and mediums are an in-between. Make use of combined arms, punish at-guns and at-infantry with anti-infantry infantry and anti-infantry infantry with vehicles. In: Strategy Desk
Thread: Tips For Gaining Veterancy More Efficiently14 Dec 2020, 16:06 PM It's useful to remember which abilities get unlocked at higher veterancy. For the exact buffs, it's usually enough to see them as more efficient in combat than their non-veteran brothers. Rule of thumb is, the more damage a units inflicts, the more experience it gets. The more experienced a unit becomes, the more efficient it will get (becoming more resilient, hitting more accurate, repairing faster etc. => doing their job better) If you want to put in a bit more time, it's good to learn what bonuses the units of your prefered faction get. It will give you some additional ideas of what you can get out of a vet unit. As an example, volks gain +7 sight range when in cover at Vet4. A play that becomes more attractive now could be,to use them more defensively, to let them stay in cover to give sight for an mg, leig or just be warned sooner of an incoming attack and set an ambush, instead of using them to scout by moving them around. The increased +24% construction rate on Sturms (+12% on Vet 3 and 4 respectively) might make setting a quick mine in enemy territory more attractive, as the mine being planted is less likely to be discovered. Thread: Team Weapons - Tips For Effective Use And Survivability14 Dec 2020, 15:54 PM Support weapons are meant to support, as the name suggests. Use infantry to gain sight for them as well as protection. MG's work well to apply additional pressure or slow down incoming attacks. Scout ahead with a squad, if they come running for you, bait them into the machine gun. They either retreat when suppressed or you can close in again with the infantry to inflict additional damage. Mines placed next to AT guns work wonders against lighter vehicles such as 222 or T-70s that try to circle them and take them out on their own. Don't set mortars in cover, as the models will clump up and therefore take more damage by indirect counterfire. Use the barrage ability only when needed, to kill static emplacements, deny green cover during a firefight, (forcing them to either abandon the cover or take additional damage by the mortar) or to barrage chokepoints to inflict damage to incoming enemy reserves. When used against houses, use attack ground instead. A house is a big enough target that the reduced accuracy doesn't matter and the additional damage forces the enemy to abandon the house quickly anyway. That way, you save the cooldown for a smoke barrage, for example. In general, support weapons are easy to punish when static, so move them once revealed. In: Strategy Desk
Thread: [Winter Balance Update] OST Feedback14 Dec 2020, 15:14 PM Reading the patchnotes one thing struck me as odd: The increase in fuel to tech up to Battlephase 1 to delay/prevent light vehicle spam. It does not only delay the 222 and halftrack, but also Pgrens, Rifle Nades and AT-Guns. If the intention was to only delay the vehicles, then another approach would have been better. In: COH2 Balance
