Great lets increase the power level of the Leig to the same level for the same reason.
Comparing a T2 unit with T4 unit that cost fuel is rather misleading.
It's an asymmetrical balance. If you want to have an identical unit, go play something else. Pak is US only medium range "arty". By your logics. Panzer IV should be identical to Sherman. Rifles to Grens. Echelons to Pioneers. MG42 to MG Squad. OST mortar to US mortar, etc.
You can compare them. One comes eariler but is very vunerable and slow. Other comes late, can supress and move around quickly and doesn't bleed manpower. On the other hand, you can recrew it while the werfer is gone for good (unless it's also decrewed, rare).
Removing autofire on PAK and reducing barage ability would make it even stronger in team games (weaker in 1v1s but it's super difficult to maintain in that mode).
USF is strong early, that much is true, especially in 1v1. In team modes US is not as strong due to the OKW sturms and OST MG42s and dependent on combinations. However, with the exception of Jackson, USF doesn't really have anything to counter anything axis throws later on (non doctrinal). And even then, Jackson needs microing due to it's non existing armour (+ spotting to take advantage of range).
If you want to mirror every unit/faction... well, I'm just glad you don't get to make any decisions. |
Howit is easily counterable. As a howi player I agree that they are strong but also easily decrewd and cost a lot of manpower to reinforce again. They are slow and any unit that gets in range of it and you're not aware the moment they are in range. Howi goodbye. Their manuverability and survavibility are offset by their damage. They are pretty strong anti infantry. In contrast... the OST werfer is mobile but has no autofire. However, it's barage is much more immidiate and dangerous. Most of the time, if you see one shell of howi, you move. Once the Werfer barage comes in it supresses and bleeds anything in the area.
Howi is good on the defense and horrible on the offense. Stuka and werfers are much better on the offense and have some defensive capability to close one sector or force retreat.
Also, going mortar and howi is just bad. Lots of pop. consumed, not worth it. The easiest way to counter pak is to move around. Literally. Pak has a narrow firing cone and in autofire, if it's targeting a "wrong" unit, most of the engagement, pack will just shift the cone around, doing nothing. Pak is good only with barrage on static targets or resource points. Seldom is autofire useful. |
So, from this point of view, a discussion about balance should be lead by the guys who lose games because they forget to built a pak?
Balance discussions should always resolve around the top players, since its the only way to exclude l2p issues. In any game.
L2P exists in all ranks, that's why tournaments exist. If everybody knew how to play everything, what's the point? Only thing that tournaments actually can tell you is the new tactics. Most of the top players need to no-life game and live around gaming and that's their life, so the old tactics are redundant and new ones spring up (been there, done that scenario). That's where the OP this or OP that comes into existence. You have a game with a ton of factors and the randomness so if individual units are really OP, then you'd know, 100% that they are OP. Furthermore, there is the game mode element. 1v1 games are drastically different than 2v2 or 3v3 games. A premade team of 3 players can synergize so well that you will lose 90%.
Eg. for axis: Jaeger doctrine reconnaissance plane + elefant synergize with OKW stuka and LeFH/arty commanders...etc. You can have a pro player any time and they will lose vs a well coordinated team.
IMHO, balance should revolve around 2v2 and 3v3 modes as 1v1 mode seems nonsensical in a game that has asymmetrical balance as one of it's foundation pillars. |
A quick google search is this:
https://forums.tomsguide.com/threads/asus-rog-sudden-black-screen.172555/
No answer to fix, but if this happens again, can you plug in another monitor/tv to see if it works? Then it would be screen hardware issue.
Another possible answer:
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?95358-Asus-rog-502vs-Random-black-screen-problems
A possible answer is to disable the 'generic pnp monitor' driver. Note I am not an expert so be careful.
https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/923889-black-screen-when-graphics-card-under-load/
This suggest that power need adjusted with MSI Afterburnner. But, I would advise extreme caution with MSI because this an overclocking software.
Question. Is it still under warranty? This could be the first route you choose.
Thank you for the extensive search. Much appreciated kind sir or madam.
It only happens in COH2, never in regular browsing. I have "updated" the generic pnp monitor driver to the Acer version as 4/4 driver updating software recommended it. Maybe that will fix it. And no, it is no longer under warranty but I have a great service center that is not expensive so in case it's the worst case scenario, I'll just take it to them. Everything works perfectly otherwise. The temperatures in the laptop are 60-65 under medium stress games, and 70 under full stress (liquid metal paste does wonders). I also undervolt the GPU and CPU so it lasts longer. I don't think there is anything wrong with the screen.
I had a couple of problems in the past year and a half:
Artifacting after GPU update/reinstallation -> went away after DDU
Artifacting once while playing CS:GO -> restart fixed (driver or undervolt)
Artifacting once under too much CPU undervolt -> restart fixed
Black screen in COH2 about once in two weeks, sometimes less, sometimes a bit more depending on how much I play COH2. I'm pretty certain nothing is dying or dead as the problems would be much more frequent. This ASUS laptop has bad GPU driver stability and the official Asus drivers are 3 years old so there are problems when using regular AMD drivers. |
Tiger is in a good spot right now. It's not over-performing and it's not under-performing. It can instill fear when it's out due to it's HP and Armour and the fact that it's quite mobile along with that. Veterancy and preservation reinforce that. It is not a meat grinder like it used to be and that's fine, no heavy is right now. On the topic of ISU-152, it's not UP nor OP. It's great vs every target (depending on shell used) but it's armour and mobility and target scanning is so poor it can only be used to stop infantry blobs and maybe snipe tanks (which is very situational on most maps unless heavies clear the bushes). The only tank I feel is not in it's price range right now is the Pershing. Not by it's gun, but by survivability. I think the armour should be buffed to 290 and that's it.
Heavies are generally in a good spot right now. Some are situational (elefant, ISU), others are all-rounders (Tiger, IS-2). None really stand out.
If I had to grade them. I think that tiger would still be #1 tank in all scenarios mainly because it's not hard to support him and it can kill both tanks and infantry easily, along with it's survivability. |
Mine is rare. Doesn't happen every time but once a week. Around 1-10 minutes into the game, doing anything or doing nothing at all, the screen will just go black and the sound will be lost but the laptop will be running and the fans spinning. Weird. |
So I'm playing on an Asus ROG strix GL702ZC
RX 580, Ryzen 1600, 8GB RAM, SSD + HDD (installed on HDD).
The following is rare but it did cost me a won game today.
Randomly while playing the screen will turn pitch black. The audio is lost but the laptop is running. I can't do anything with it until I force shutdown. After the start-up, event log shows no errors (except the unexpected shut down) or anything that could point to any hardware fault.
I ran the perfmon /report and it showed no errors. Hard Disk Sentinel shows healthy disks. sfc scannow with dism.exe shows no corruption and it's a problem only with COH2. Any thoughts why the screen goes black even though the laptop seems to be working (an overheat would shut it down) |
Move from cover to cover in neutral/enemy territory and always focus running sturms. Force long range engagements and if the map is densely packed, well, focus locations that aren't. I also go 3 Rifles, but into captain and then I get the AA. It works wonders vs OKW but you will have to be careful for the raketen, it's not the best AT along Pak in the game for nothing.
Also, don't force pushes. If you see an enemy is entrenched in some position, focus other parts of the map |
Dodging direct argument confrontation by discrediting your opponent and qualify them as "no-life simpletons" is quite pretentious and not in line with the goal of a forum, so you can leave now. That's not the first time you look down on people with your "understanding of the human kind". If you can't understand that a game is like social/mathematical problem which requires time and understanding by looking at how it work and how it makes people interact, you can't understand the complexity of balancing a game. And if it looks like a cycle, maybe the balance is achieve, like most of greater games do (SC2,LOL,ect...). You have no legitimity of speaking which could make you dodge the argument and grant you the absolute truth.
I didn't plan to respond to any message but will clarify. Game is a mathematical problem. Social problem is only in terms of ranks. It is a mathematical problem which has no solution and cycling the "meta" is not balancing. It's cycling. I do not understand humans, at all. I am a pretty simple person. I know physics, mathematics, volleyball, swimming and loving my girlfriend and my parents. That's it. I have some general quiz knowledge, nothing special but seeing the recommendations here about the "balance" is pretty tragicomic. Leave the balance to the team behind the patches. That's all |
EDIT: Captain, not LT. LT is for stuart, M20 and MGs and Captain for AA, howi and ATGs. Also, they changed the Captain to equip BAR and LT equips Zook. Typing mistake. Wrote LT, meant Captain.
Yeah, you can go for ATG too. I usually go for howits or AA. Place 3 zooks on rangers. AA or howits help deal with infantry whereas one snare on rifles + 3 ranger zooks quickly take out P4s and luchs/flak tank. The 3 zooks is expensive but I find it a good value until I get the Jackson. Of course, if you are bleeding MP and/or munitions, go for ATG to deal with light/medium. If you go for AA + rangers, it's a lot of micro. Rangers will be able to take out any vehicle but you risk losing the AA since it's micro-heavy (shoots out of it's ass).
My tactics is usually (depending on situation) 3 rifles + LT that deal with infantry, ranger zook squad behind them to kill snared vehicles and supported by 2 howits. After that I go for Jackson (or earlier, depends on what the enemy is playing). I bombard usual MG positions before I push, spread out my infantry to push with cover and keep rangers a bit behind in case a tank decides to go for my infantry.
If you don't pick a commander with rangers, then ATGs are a must. Echelons with zooks can only harass light vehicles. If you do go for ATGs then I guess howits are better since you're playing more defensively. Can't really rush in with ATGs and AA halftrack.
These are just my personal touches to the USF in 3v3. I stopped playing 1v1 cause I find it nonsensical (asymmetrical balance) even though I was quite good at it. USF has strong mainline infantry so you can, with a bit of micro, easily win early game vs OST. OKW on the other hand is cancerous on most maps vs USF and you must go for an LT to get MGs.
