I agree that community changes, but I sort of expected them to move on to CoH2, not to stop playing completely. Without them, CoH2 for me has a weird feeling. |
Hey CoH1 fans,
I started playing CoH in 2011, and I was really enjoying it. Then, when CoH2 came out, I bought it immediately. However, since then, I have not played it, in fact, since 2013 I have not played any games at all (let´s just say I focused on different things in life). I was on my computer a week ago, and saw my CoH2 steam icon on the desktop, so I decided to play. However, when I went to coh2.org, I was amazed at how much the community has changed. It looks like everyone I loved watching on streams is gone. Sandland? Freestyler? Sepha? DevM? Pepsi? Inverse? Lollypop? I mean, did every fan of CoH1 just decide not to play CoH2? I played it, it was ok, sort of. I think most of the community realized that CoH2, even though it is an ok game, can never be as good as CoH1 and probaly never will be. But they just sort of accepted it and kept on playing. But it seems all the good guys stayed here! Is CoH2 now really that bad, even with the new DLCs?
Why don´t you play CoH2 already? Is it that bad?
Why isn´t Inverse doing any CoH2 strat talks? Why isn´t Sepha showing off his micro skills?
Is Coh1 still fun? Is it still playable? Is coming back and abandoning coh2 for coh1 worth it?
And first and foremost, why does it look like Relic doesn´t care about CoH1 anymore? |
I ran original CoH on my GTX 460, and currently I have no problems running CoH2 on the same card. I play on lower details of course, but I do that on every other multiplayer game. I like the Nvidia 700 series though, so I will probably get that new GTX 760. |
Hopefully this will also bring some new players to the game, I bet number of viewers will surprise us. |
Hopefully Sega won´t be interested in getting money as much as THQ did (first 3 singleplayer DLCs for free if you preorder hell yea!!) |
Well, I guess live spectating would add some unique factor to live shows like SundayNightFights, but I think keeping replay private so nobody can watch it, and to not tell the results to anyone, is not that hard. Thus, with replays, you can be 100% sure that the game you are watching will be ok, and you don´t have to annoy spectators by re-playing the game, because one of the players disconnected, etc. On the bright site of live spectating, casters might for example interview players right after each game, so it is fresh in their mind, with all the emotions and such. But after all, I just can´t get a feeling to like mirrors. I know it would be a great step towards competitive community, but for me, mirrors just don´t fit for a ww2 game. I know it is a stupid argument, but it is an argument that was mentioned by thousands of players. And do you think that a WW2 RTS might become popular in E-sports? I don´t. |
Well, I watched a local TV-game show (news, reviews, etc.) and they talked about CoH2 in the last episode. In their "exclusive" (of course) interview, one of the devs said that they are going to include mirror matches in the game in order to get better competitive community. Looks like a pretty much final statement to me. Don´t know the latest news though...... |
Yeah sure, but it's impossible
Yes, two absolutely equal players - that is just a theory. But you need that theory in order to make a balanced game. Your goal is, to have (in your mind, of course) two absolutely same persons playing mirror match under same circumstances (without RNG) and then, theoretically, it is a stalemate. That is balance. Or atleast I think. But yes, in real life, it is imposibble. |
Yes, but RNG always comes into play after decision making.
Well, decision making will be equal too, if you have two absolutely same players playing under absolutely same circumstances. |
Decision making is never equal, that's why we have wins and losses in coh. Unit health can be a factor, because of the aformentioned element. Furthermore, it's a terrible game where you have only 1 strategy available to you.
We have wins and loses because of the RNG, and because no two players in the world are equal. |
