I would say that usual Wehrmacht opening (no commander) is:
In this order
-MG and t1 building
-3 grenadiers (keep eye on manpower, don't float it)
-battle phase one (no fuel floating either) retreat ur pios while research too, if you want fast 222
-t2
-222
-pgren/ATG
-bunker
-battle phase 2
if you time this correctly you can get scout car sometimes a little earlier than min 5 and if you get the scout car this early, it's most effective because when it comes out at this time, there's no real counter to it. take advantage and decap and cap their points while forcing retreats. Some people don't get the 222, but I feel like 15 fuel is not really anything (actually like 30secs of income) and the 222 can do good dmg during the time it's alive.
Also, make sure to not buy all ur grens LMGs because Pgrens need 120munis for their double schreks. makes sure to think about pio flamethrower upgrade too because this can save additional munitions used on garrison clearing nades. So I would say think about flamer or LMG, then float munis for schreks. Also think about bunker hospital upgrade. another tip is that because pgrens get 2 schreks, they lose 50% of their anti infantry power, so what you can do is that you can have 120 munis until you see the need to do so or the clock hits around min 10 which is the timing when most allied light tanks begin appearing.
Bunker timing is also really tricky because you have to make a decision to either build bunker for healing or build one more unit or tech faster
as a german player make sure to try to research the battle phase techs as soon as possible without any floating until you get to the p4 building. after that it becomes a pain in the ass either to tech or spam more p4s or something since the panther costs like 300 fuel in total taking tech and building and itself into consideration but you can always float fuel for tiger. If your getting tiger make sure to have like 2 pgrens or 2 at guns or both (lol) because they enemy might mass tanks and if you get ur p4 killed and pgrens suppresed and have not enough AT, then ur fucked. TBH, AT gun feels like a emergency unit for the wehrmacht but there's no real disadvantage to get one other than 320mp. Or if you decided to get all ur grens LMGs.
TBH, I don't really play WM that much, but I feel that this seems to be a pretty normal opening. and sort of the way I think when I'm playing WM. I've seen Helpinghans play the opening here a few times I think |
I'm just not using it because it's just too op. Why use a clearly and stupidly broken unit. Only problem is that people are going to start spamming them and name it something intelligent like, "Heavy Usage of the M1 81mm Mortar - USF" or someshit.
I actually don't even understand why relic added this unit. Literally the shells are heat seeking or someshit. I just played USF and got 2 pack howies and they seem totally nice, these things are also accurate and deal significant amounts of damage. TBH, I was shooting at a blob like around 50 meters anyway so I woudn't really know, but these mortars just make no sense and are just damn broken. if relic wants to keep them they have to take away the heat seeking feature and the nonsense accuracy. And if USF players and relic feel that USF has no real nice indirect fire option, then just buff this howie not add another unit that literally does the same thing but has the retreat button.
No, seriously why was this unit added? Do they really need something like this in the early game? against WM, they are not countering anything important and these units are just creating an unfair advantage against the already shitty earlygame that the WM has against the USF. They are countering German mortars?just run around in circles or something, like literally RMs deal good dmg when moving and you need to close the gap anyway. Against OKW, I don't really know. OK, the sovs have their own mortars but the stock sov mortars are not as "great", they are rather shitty. And against sturmpios, they are going to be moving around anyway. USF already has a great infantry unit they deal fucking insane dmg upclose against anything other than sturmpios. they are basically superconscripts or something, and if you say that the price makes up for it, than ur not making sense because we are not comparing those two here and is not like you get 2 conscripts for the price of one RM squad. Literally against OKW, RMs rip volks and kubels. Only weakness is sturmpios. unless some idiot decides to blob them, USF has no real disadvantage against OKW during the early game and even if they blob sturmpios, build time and 300mp is not ideal for them. And if people are complaining about the midgame, then IDK because I don't play USF almost at all. But, either way, they seem to have the pack howie during the midgame and other things to deal with infantry and these mortars are not at all close to being even severly OP, its more like fucking broken, unusable, and "what the fuck where you thinking relic no offense, but fuck".
TL;DR PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF THE BALANCE OF THE GAME AND THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF ALL PLAYERS, DON'T USE THIS BROKEN UNIT. AND RELIC PLEASE FIX I LOVE UR GAME AND APPRECIATE ALL THAT TIME AND EFFORT AND THE GAME ITSELF AND EVERYONE TRYING THEIR BEST BUT THESE MORTARS JUST MAKE NO SENSE |
lol I get what you mean but how is a t34/76 a luxury i find it to be a trade off between a functional unit vs a non functional one that can flank, commit suicide in 2 different ways, and at least damage infantry. It just dies too quickly and flanking is not really an option in many games. I'm not saying that it doesn't work or anything because when it does, it does. But just in many games good players have many other AT options other than their frontline tanks. usually it's a wall of tanks vs another and usually you end up killing most of ur t34s if you try to do something dumb
I mean even if you mass it, it's gonna be like max 4 of them. Against WM, the enemy might have a p4, one or 2 at guns assuming they know how to play and are getting these as an emergency measure, at least one pgren and possibly a p4 if you have 2 or 3 or 4 t34s. I don't think that the t34s are going to get out alive in this situation. pgrens shoot 2 shots at a time. That's 50% of the hp of ur t34. paks are going to be shooting, grens are going to be snaring and, probably most of the first shots of the t34s are either going to miss or bounce. I don't really think that mass t34 is a viable option in the current state of the game.
Their gun doesn't pen and they seem to have armor values just because they are tanks. I tried getting them and using them but the 85 variant seems to be the only functional turreted medium tank that the sovs have. |
Rate of fire wise, from faster to slower, it goes, Zis, SU76, and last t34
Dmg wise, su76 gun deals slightly less dmg than the zis and the t34 gun which have the same dmg
penetration wise I don't really know, but i'm assuming the all 3 share the same pen value |
