Looks like noone else has picked this and seeing how I'm a fair bit higher ranked on 1v1 OKW I suppose I could help a bit.
First of all Faymontville is a bit bad for OKW as statistically they loose more than they win on it. It is not too bad though, but if you find yourself consistently loosing on this particular map then consider veto.
As for your early capping.. Starting as the north player you have to quickly cap the point directly south of your base. this is a vital cutoff point and you will get noting from any southern ressource points until you capped this! Also send at least one squad to cap your own fuel. you didn't get this before the 8 minute mark and at this point you still needed almost another minute to actually cap your cutoff. So within the first ten minutes of the game you were already immensely bahind on ressources, which is much more punshing for OKW than for soviets.
As you also early realized is that a soviet opponent who is allowed free rein of your side of the map is going to give you a bad time with demo charges. As such your first munis should almost always go to sweepers for your sturmpios, and try to cap point from odd areas. The wipe on the 11.30 mark however would have been hard to aviod for anyone but the most experienced players so don't sweat it.
about 12 mins in. This might be a personal preference, but I personally wouldn't be building a schwere panzer before I could actually get some armor out almost immediately after. Also you know both from his bullitins and the shells hitting you that the guy likes his 120 mm mortars, so the schwere should probably be more defensive. I'm writing this review as I watch it so I won't know what is happening, but I imagine those mortars will give you a bad time.
almost 19 minutes in you hit the second democarge loosing almost two squads. your mg34 was actually shooting the the engineers while they were deploying this and seeing as you had already met one demo charge, it is harder to excuse this misplay.
I must say you have some pretty ingenious and unconventional picks to counter your opponent. The infrared HT helps your ISG locating the moratars and harrass them and after loosing your pz4 the jagdpanther seems like a pretty good choice. On the other hand you are seriously missing infantry at this point, relying only on a single vet 5 volks. the rest of your army consists of armor and support weapons which makes capping and combined arms very difficult.
After this point the opponents lead in ressources veterancy and pop cap simply let him brute force his way to victory and did't do this in a very elegant way as he suffered a lot of unnecessary losses. But seeing as you had been hamstrung almost from the beginning it was still possible.
You did do a lot of things right and adapted quite well to some of his units. work on your capping order, sweeping and late game composition and you should be able to move upwards

Why Hello there team mate, Tordenskjold here. Thanks for the great matches yesterday I think I'll stay out of the overall fuel balance discussion and instead focus on what I imagine is being meant here. As it is now, the soviets have a very strong but also very unflexible meta. The reason for this is that their penal battallions and doctrinal mgs are significantly overperforming, whilst much of their t2 as well as conscripts are generally underperforming in terms of cost efficient exchange. This could be helped a lot by making penals slightly less versatile and nerfing the dshk so it is not able to setup AND suppress enemy infantry emerging from the FoW before they are able to get within grenade range. In exchange for these nerfs the conscripts should get some significant buffs so they are able to retain viability in combat into the endgame. Discussions on how to best achieve this range from giving better veterancy buffs or making them unlock a single dp-28 as a purchasable upgrade after building t3. in return for a dshk nerf it would also be sensible to give some more power back to the maxim, perhaps by just reducing its price back to 240 mp and/or improving the stats a bit. Such changes could potentially open up for much more diverse soviet strategies which in turn would be less predictable and make the whole experience more enjoyable for both the soviet player and his opponent. I got 2 questions: 1.) I personally don't find it useful and thus never use it. 2.) IRRC the doctrinal Tank Hunter squad from the special weapons doctrine is able to detect armor through the fog of war and this even includes hiden goliaths! Try fielding these guys and keep a keen eye on the mini-map to avoid nasty surprises. Hope this will help In: UKF Strategies |

I'll give you a few pointers. Ill' focus more on constructive criticism than on praise, because that is what you learn from. I've been whacked the same way in here when posting my replays so please don't take offense, because I mean none Good things first. + Good prediction with the UC and Wasp. His bullitins gave a strong indication that he would go mg spam and you picked up on it. you also had decent micro with it. + You made good use of your doctrine and its abilities - The city centre of Arnheim dosen't hold tremendous strategic value in the opening game, but if you decide to go for it with an mg, then pick the lone yellow house on the west side of the town square rather than the church, especially if you are in the north! That building covers more strategic ground and is easier to retreat from without suffering a wipe (like you did retreating from the church). - You blob too much! Don't cap points with more than one unit and use the rest to advance. remember to use attack move when moving units around. vs an mg spammer this is especially important and you could have put him out of his misery much sooner if you had not been massed suppressed on numerous occations. - Your sniper was doing more sightseeing of the dutch country side than actually earning the kings shilling by whacking aryans. If you don't have the micro to effectively use a sniper, use the 360 mp somewhere else. - just like your opponent you were camping your mgs out on the fringes of the map. Try watching propegandacast lehr on the use of machine guns. They should be at a place supporting your infantry, not be used a temporary deterrents in the corner of the map until they are inevitably flushed out. - 27 minutes in: so when you are facing an osttruppen and mg spammer and you already have 3 sixpounter AT-guns on the field (which is too much!) as well as an AT sniper, the good choice for first armor would not be the firefly! You had AT abilities for miles already and twice the force strength of your opponent. a cromwell would have been the safe choice and a centaur would probably have been the best choice to break the will of your opponent at this point. at this point of the game it is crazy that your opoonent still managed to retain more field control with essentally a skeleton crew. - try to practice placing mines whenever you have spare munitions and engineers with nothing to do. the narrow alleys of the center are a perfect spot for mining and would probably have saved you from many of the p4 rushes. one of these rushes basically gives your opponent two of your AT guns for free - This might be a personal preference, but I would never give my Commandos a piat! They are anti-infantry killers who benefit immensely from brenguns. moreso than any other brit unit! Giving them piats just make them average at everything. - By the 44 minutes mark you push out your third firefly because the two first were flanked and annhilated by p4s or going toe to toe with a vetted stug and two 6-pounders. the cromwell is an easier tank to handle, so you might want to master this before putting more focus on the firefly. - 48 minues is the time of death for the third firefly and finally we see the cromwell taking it's place. I look forward with trepidation - 53 R.I.P Cromwell - the amount of times your whole army got pinned by a single mg is astounding. this is something you should work on. If you don't have indirect fire, then remember to use cloaked commandos with hold fire to get close and lob in a grenade. Overall I haven't seen this much blood in Arnheim for a long time! you both had some good comebacks. I would say that your main focus should be on unit preservation and individual use of units. Consider watching all tightropes tips ans tricks videos as well as everything from propegandacast lehr and I would also recommend using autohotkey to rebind your strat map to the capslock key and start using this religiously to move your units around and keep an overview. The Dhsk mg is the most powerful mg in the game, and can shut down an entire push if used correctly. Jae For Jett is right in that using your light tank to control the side of the map is a very good use for such a unit. Its fast and can win pretty much every fight you are likely to get into, once the fight is won you can let the unit you are sending that way do all the capping while you send the tank back to the centre or to the other side to do the same again. The more that MG is retreating or in base the less damage it does to you. Thanks. Yeah I know that ressourcewise the centre is not of much strategic value, but as you probably saw in the replay this strategy happened at a point in the game where resources were of lesser importance and VP was what it was all about. I had pop-cap control, but he had the strategic advantage (which is partly my fault I admit) so he could slowly chip away by using this rinse-and-repeat strat on the corner VP. In: Replay Reviews |
