I swear that KV-2 sits in front of me at the movies everytime! |

The conscript zombie horde is pretty hard to counter early- particularly if they flank a team weapon & steal equipment.
The P4 target acquisition is a bit wonky & doesn't seem to really do that much to armour.
But to balance that OH has some of the best call ins in the game tied into the largest array of commanders.
The OP said they seem weak & asked for advice. Stop crapping on about balance when it's not necessary. |
There is two reasons for this so called RANT. First, I am sick of getting ignored by Relic (justified or not due to lack of manpower resources)and this COH2.ORG community as whole.
There are glaring problems in 3v3+ that are like the old Opel Blitz. Remember that? an inevitably fixed glaring balance issue that affected only non 1v1. That took more than half a year to fix. But instead now, the new glaring problems are taking more than a year to be fixed or not even going to be fixed in the future.
The second reason for this rant is that the community as whole, especially those so called elite 1v1 players who has the most say think this is just fine. Just par for the course. Not 1v1, not interested. Team games are for fun and go fuck off if you don't got the balls to play the real mode. It not my mode, who the fuck cares about it.
Haven't even played a real 3v3+ match where you throw a grenade and slide over 500m to reverse order the jacksons you ordered to move up just a second ago while keeping your ears open for katty/stuka/werfer while remembering where numerous mines your teammate has discovered but could not sweep. The game where you had to coordinate 4 armies to kill hordes of churchill, jacksons or JT, KT etc etc. Nope, I played 1v1 and fuck it if I care, 3v3+ scrubs, I am coming, jump into the fuckin icy river and kill yourself in shame because you don't play 1v1.

1. first glaring issue, forward retreat base. I don't want to be partisan here but OKW Forward Retreat Point is especially cancerous. it is hilarious that they can get it up so early into the game and maybe in 1v1 it might shave 20 seconds off retreat most of the time, in 3v3+, shaving of more than a minute of retreat time is fuckin given. To take it down early, allies invest into weak light arty early game, which means less mainline and if that serious commitment to take down the FRP does not work, you know because he is back on the field in 30 seconds while for you it takes 2 minutes? flak is already up.
not to say other FRP are good. but they come later and seriously, if you can not counter allies FRP with "wipe machines" so called walking stuka or panzerwerfer, you are a fuckin idiot.
FRPs promote blobbing and mass retreat, and removes one of the tactical essence of coh2: TIME. when Yoink said it in SNF4, he was absolutely right. Time is a fuckin resource and if you made your opponent retreat, you earned it. Now, you get a fuckin slap in the face for reward because the same blob returns 20 seconds later.
2. Whoever has late game wins usually. Well, now OPKW has early-mid-AND late game but... For eternity, Axis been wiping the fuckin floor in 3v3+ and since TBF release and last patch cycle, suddenly with rifle/con buff plus brit turned the table upside fuckin down? I wonder why.
others, I will not mention because they seems more personal or not particularly 3v3 exclusive as in OPkw in general, current popcap "bug", etc etc.
You also forget the free fixins that the mech truck doles out to the tanks you've lost half of your army almost killing. That's nearly as bad as the forward retreat- just as frustrating.

I usually have a one or two riflemen squads per game that never return to base & only get upgrades via stealing weapons. I don't think that is indicative of a game mechanic that is working properly.
I think there should be the ability to have a forward equipping area like the brits but at the same time I can't see it being managed fairly without some unnecessary structure or vehicle being created.
Theiving weapons balances it out I reckon. |
that would be one hell of a dangerous weapon, it should come with new "Hump him Hans!" ability
Lol- those saucy germans.
But seriously how come OKW & Wehrmacht has never had to spend fuel on teching weapons for their mainline troops? |
I had a similar thing with my PC- the heat sinks were clogged with dust & the heat buildup went from nothing to shutdown spikes within the blink of an eye. I was monitoring temp as well but still got random shutdowns. The heat buildup was astonishingly fast.
I'd crack the hood open & give it a dusting... |
When reading Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's book "Brothers in Arms: The Epic Story of the 761st Tank Battalion", I clearly remember Abdul-Jabbar distinctly addressing the tendency for Sherman crews to put sandbags, trees, anything they could on the front of their Sherman tanks. After realizing it didn't do anything, he said that the crews felt safer.
Just to note, he interviewed living members of the 761st when conducting his research.
Kareem Abdul-Jabar? The NBA player? |
I think in the first instance the map was Vielsalm- there's a small slope at the top left of the bottom base area. The pak gun just walked into some kind of snag & just stopped. The infantry just froze too & didn't look like they were pulling the Pak. It was just stupid that after getting mortared half to death no damage & stuck in a crater.
I think with the tank the volks were actively trying to use the tank as cover as they kept running back & forth whilst getting squashed. |
So couple of really idiotic incidents happened on the weekend whilst playing a couple of co-op AI battles.
Firstly as Wehrmacht about 8 minutes in I have built a Pak gun & the spawn point is up out of the base area. Said pak gun has begun wheeling it's self up toward the rally point when it's hit a small slope in the base area & just gotten stuck. Just couldn't move it.
At this point I realised the game was lost- the AI started fielding light armour & I had nothing to counter it with & I thought to hell with it I'll see if I can free up this AT gun.
I set two mortars on it barraging it with 2 barrages each. All that happened was the immobile gun was now at the bottom of a blackened crater. No deaths & no movement. That shat me so I quit.
Next game OKW- was playing pretty crap & basically lost most everything up on the front line so I decided to blob 5 volks with shreks.
Come across a sherman doing it's thing wrecking an emplacement. Blob runs up to sherman & reduces it's HP by half in the first attack. Cool I think- move in for the kill.
Doe they move in for the kill after I right click on the target? Hell no!
Nup they decided to surround the tank like it was some kind of shrek bukake party & not actually fire anything. The tank spins on the spot firing & running over half of the blob. 5 seconds go by just watching them circle jerk each other.
One model actually got a shot away before all 5 units were basically smashed/squished.
Has anyone else encountered the stuck pak?
Do your volks also make tank porn? |
The good-
IR Pathfinders with call in art
The bad-
4 Model quad that is squishy as f***
No crits or accuracy buff
Call in art is expensive & takes ages to call in
The good-
Early light armoured broom broom car (greyhound)
The bad-
broom broom car is weak & canister shot that is supposed to squadwipe don't do it any more.
The good-
Combat support squad with 2 paratroopers call in for 900 MP already upgraded with weapons & an AT gun
The bad-
Comes too late, is too expensive & the AT gun isn't used very often. The paras don't seem to sport any decent abilities for an "elite" infantry group. Weapon drops seem to favour zooks more than any other weapon but 1919s & thompsons will sometimes spawn.
Does that summarise the pros & cons?
