I don't dislike static popcap in itself; honestly popcap is one of the weirder systems in modern RTS games. CoH already punishes munition and fuel income as well as making you more suspectible to artillery and being cut off, they could've kept that.
Getting rid of cutoffs is 10 steps backwards though. |
There are soo many gif'able movements in Django Unchained. |
These 20 levels sound more like DOW2 ranks rather than COH levels.
It's experience, not real level. And your level will only increase, even with losses, and even vs AI.
GuruSkippy is right. He is always right.
Only one post, but somehow I recognise that name...
OT: I think that the problem with vague bulletins is that they will not provide any big feeling of customization for the player, and at the same time they will be extremely niche. I'm afraid that they will only come in use every now and then and make you feel more lucky to have picked it than a part of why you won.
Example: You can't really tailor your strategy around 10%+ cover bonus, or 5%+ panzershreck accuracy, it's (arguably) too small a bonus for you to customize your play to any larger extent. If you do though get a panzershreck, and manages to take out a tank with a impressive long range shot, wouldn't you feel more 'lucky' that you happened to pick that bonus, than 'skilled? |
Less than 1 month of beta, when coh2 comes out it's gonna be unplayable: unoptimazed(graphically), bugs, desgin-flaws, fail balance, fail gameplay design...
What a mess.
I don't think you optimize graphics during beta.
I don't get the impatience honestly. The game will come out, and every week it is pushed back I see as one more week for them to work on it. Honestly the optimal thing for me would be if they pushed it back to April or May, and had the Beta for late February or March.
CoH have been played since 2006, giving it a few more months is something I wouldn't mind at all. Though I can see that it stings to not get a game when you were promised; hey, that's life. |
I don't get it either... they're just names. Sure if you're called "n****killah" or something just ignorant and insulting, you should get some heat for it. But having "Hitler" for username can't really be that insulting, can it?
Unless you are trying to be insulted, then it'll probably work. |
Tommy V Pepsi was a great cast, nice work! I do think you need to turn up your volume slightly, Rogers, or turn down Pounder a slight bit. Maybe you both got the same volume, but Pounder seem to be a generally loud guy compared to you. (Which is not a bad thing at all, cracks me up a lot ) |
When you play well you set yourself in a position where a strike that would, with luck, do medium damage, will instead do more damage. If I force my opponent into holding a clumped up defensive line by his cutoff because of my constant aggression, and then wipe 3 squads with a single good howie shot, does that make me lucky? Maybe, but if he had been playing better he wouldn't have been in that bad spot. A good player makes his opponent look bad and forces mistake. (distracting someone with artillery and flanks to wipe a squad on the far end of the map could for example be seen as your opponent making a mistake, but it was brought on by how you played and outmaneuvered him)
In general, I think people too often see mistakes as something brought on by the mistake maker, and disregard what an influence the opponent had in the making of that mistake. |
Amazing article. A positive attitude will making gaming more fun and you'll improve quicker. Also AFAIK being angry releases a hormone (or something related to that) that makes it harder to think.
"Anger, like Fear, releases a Stress hormone called Cortisol, the Long term effects of elevated cortisol levels are indeed detrimental to us, both physically and mentally." Going through a game clear minded is very helpful. And in my experience some get obsessed with blaming away the mistakes they've made on bugs or OP stuff instead of focusing on winning. |
My name is John, and my friends started calling me Jenny for a short period of time to mess with me back in high school. When I started playing Dawn of War: Dark Crusade (very late, like 2010) I tried Jenny but it was taken, then I tried the alternative spelling "Jenni" and got the suggestion "RagingJenni" which I found funny since it was such a contradiction, my name being John and me being very, very calm. ^^ |
Does this mod have its own version of Dayz Commander? I really get lazy when it comes to manual installation of mods & troubleshooting. :/ |
