English is my native language (I'm American). And Steam claims I have now 112 hours but definitely a few hours is just in the menu while I left the game open or alt tabbed out.
That's good, you probably have the fundenentals down so you just need to hone your skills and get a solid grasp on the more advanced stuff. I've put in about 1200 hours so I could help if you want to. What times are good for you to play? AND do you have a head set with Skype or something? |
I'm no expert or anything but I've put in a good chunk of hours so if you want I could give you some help. Assuming our hours matched up and your fluent with english. |
I need suggestions for dealing with the US rifle blobs with flamethrowers. Ordinary I don't have a problem with blobs and I don't encounter them very much but I had a game the other day with 6 or 7 riflemen that just roasted all of my troops and cover is more or less irrelevant thanks to flamethrowers. I'd get a flak panzer but e8s came out right after it and made short work of my armor. What are some ways of dealing with this blob as my other methods were insufficient.
Thanks lads |
Conscripts have a pretty bad accuracy at long range, the closer you are the better they perform. Conversely grenaders perform better long range so don't give them that advantage and close the gap.
You should make it a habit of useing two squads of conscripts for early game engagements. Or at least support them with something like an mg. A single squad of cons vs grens, grens will win in a fair fight.
Upgrades like the ppsh's arnt very good. You essentially trade there subpar medium range for better close range. Basically making them into crappy assault units. It's far better to leave that sort of thing to shock troops. Anti tank rifles don't scale well into late game so and there are better anti tank solutions for the soviets. AT grenades are a must, they are lethal to vehicles and light armor and damages engines on top of that. You don't need to get them right away. Hold off on buying them until there first vehicle hits the front. There's no need to waste fuel an manpower on buying them preemptively. Molotovs don't work very well early game due to how easily they are avoided but can be great late game; with everything going it's easy to kill idel squads with it if you opponent is distracted with other things.
Don't forget to build sandbags. Green cover can be hard to find late game with all the bombardment.

I'm not sure if this belongs here or not but is there a mod that I can spawn what I want and what I want the AI to have in order to test certain combat scenios with certain units in mind. Kinda like the sandbox mode in age of empires 3. |
Dont build P4s, build StuGs.
They tear Churchills apart.
I do build those too but I can ussually get my tanks out before they do (depending on the map) so I don't want to build a stug first and have on standby while they build their tanks. |
I've played quite a few games now where the P4 just doesn't seem to stack up agaist British, especially when their mediums start coming out. It's gun has unreliable pen and and it's armor rarely ever holds out against their tank guns and it's a bit too sluggish for the nimbler British counterparts. It just seems like an early flack panzer would be a better investment do to how infantry heavy they are and then pumping out a panther as soon as possible. What are your guys take on it? |
You're welcome man, glad I can help. Your game wasn't so bad. I know it looks like I bitched about a lot but 95% was just little stuff. Unfortunately it's hard for US to counter CAS when skipping LT so dont feel to bad. Especially when those two were intentionally utilising there destructive prowess in this patch. I've seen some players use the top mounted Mgs on the m4 to counter CAS with pretty good success (you need 2-3 to be effective)
Good luck in your future games |
I'll give it a watch as make points as I go, I'm by no means an expert but Ill see what I can do.
3:28 - I can't quite understand what you're protecting with your bunker. Its not watching a flank or CP, it's just kinda there.
6:26 - You both are floating a lot of manpower. A few more riflemen would have helped out. I've also see you pop some smoke without making much use of it by either nothing being there or just promptly retreating your units. While I applaud you for using such an effective tool, you just wasted about 60 muni.
7:00 - Another bunker goes up. While this one is protecting more than the first one, it will be very easy for them to kill especially with the 2 mortars they own.
7:00 - Looks like they've been able to hold both fuels since the beginning. I'm hoping to see a joint counter attack very soon because otheer with a surplus of fuel is a nightmare to go against.
8:24 - There went that poor bunker, at this point your really needed to tech up to T3 to get that sturt out. You are floating your fuel in a bad way.
8:44 Another smoke followed by a retreat. You haven't build any new units since the beginning, you did just get your greyhound but the shock value of a vehicle has kinda past. They probably have paks at this point.
9:40 Well done on getting them off that fuel point. They had it for a while so you need to get AT out for there upcoming armor. Still no tech made, I'm not sure what you're waiting for.
10:25 OHHHH NOOOO you went lieutenant. There is no possible way that is going to help you. In this patch the lieutenant tier just doesn't cut it at all, ever. This is a BIG no no there is no AT in there and with how long they've been hoarding fuel its just a waste of time and resources. This is a huge mark against you.
10:55 Another M8 will not help you. That fuel would have been better spent on serious armor.
11:15 Flakpanzer in on the front and you have nothing prepared for it.
16:23 Looks like you are joining up with your teammate to take some ground this is a smart move considering neither one of your can punch through on your own.
19:12 Looks like your teammate is blobbing his mgs in the open road. I feel like thats gonna end poorly.
19:22 Huh, when better than I thought. He still got that blob mentality though.
22:18 You have sooooooo much fuel and manpower it hurts to look at. There never a reason to have that much fuel in your bank.
23:24 The devil is your AT gun shooting at?
24:56 First CAS came in and surprisingly your teammates halftrack shoot it down instantly. Very atypical of them.
25:30 Second CAS comes and your teammate brings in a KV8... thats a shame
26:47 Nice take down of that Tiger
29:54 Well done taking second tiger out and finally getting an M4
33:33 Your teammates driving me nuts with that KV8 he just needs a IS2
35:55 You are floating resources again you have plenty for a Jackson or M4
40:46 That poor jackson
I stopped watching here cause I got the jist of it. So really the CAS was not really that big of a problem here. The only thing they did was kill 2 KV8's both of which were not contributing to the game. I only really paid attention to you and your game play so I can't say much for your teammate.
So in conclusion, floating resources, tech choice, and armor were the 3 biggest issues you struggled with. Its as if you had no idea what your plan was and just playing by ear. Always have a plan. Sorry if this all sounds like nitpicking but they were just things that stuck out to me.
Hope this helps lad |
Well done on your victory man. If you want to know what you could improve on I would say number one thing is cover. I saw alot of engagements were you had you guys about 2 feet from yellow cover but just stayed in an open field. I would say you could have saved 50% of your casualties by moving your troops to cover and keeping them far from the enemy (remember volksgrenadier excel at long range while conscripts with ppsh's are close range, don't give them that advantage). In the end game it seemed like you just started blobing your units. While this is a common and easy strategy in lower tier games it is very easy to counter and could cost you in higher tiers games. I won't nitpick with all the nitty-gritty just because cover, range, and blobbing were the three biggest problems I saw.
