Paid commanders are a thing, and they have been a thing since the game's launch.
...
People for some reason are surprised, annoyed, and outraged by this fact.
There have always been robberies, burglaries and muggings.
People for some reason are surprised, annoyed, and outraged by this fact.
Such is life.
Obviously the solution is to abolish the police.

Thick argument is thick. The fact that a bad practice happens is not in itself justification for it continuing. |
I've already pointed out the problem: trying to defend an over-priced product on some sort of 'help us help you' basis is ridiculous. And when mere commanders are selling at the same price as a whole faction, it's impossible not to think they're wildly, vastly over-priced. And seeing as, if it;s available on day 1, this is not further, extra work they've done, it's just that they're selling a cut down product and charging extra for the whole thing.
This is, in short, a modern sort of crippleware.
I've defended Relic many times; I consider the contemptuous attitude that many here have toward them quite inappropriate. But this isn't an issue about Relic alone, it's something that affects the industry as a whole, and it's creating a lot of bad blood. |
You're saying that I'm giving them money not in exchange for a product, but merely out of sympathy. In that case I am already an investor, just one without equity. |
i honestly dont see the issue with this. its an extra to a dlc, which is weird, but ok considering the amount of support relic has provided to us. It helps to fund the existence of the game, SEGA surely isnt the welfare company you may think them to be.
If the argument is that I should give them money so they can make more stuff, then I should be an investor, who owns shares, and receives a dividend. |
I believe the motorcycle in CoH1 had some kind of bonus, either a RA buff or something to do with target size, that made it much harder to hit than other vehicles. It wasn't that unusual to see a motorcycle escape several shots from ATG's. I assume the same principle has been applied to the kubel. |
All fixed-gun tank destroyers are inherently more useful on long thin maps, because the opportunities for flanking are more limited. For this reason, possibly going IS-2 isn't that good an idea, because your opponent has the perfect counter in their back pocket. If it hadn't been the jagdtiger, it could well have been a couple of jagdpanzers. Similarly, Elephants and PAK-43's are popular on this sort of map.
This doesn't mean that it's automatically a bad idea; you could use your IS-2 as bait to draw the jagd-X out. But you would have to have that in mind in advance, rather than just trying to bull through on the units HP alone. |
Raytheon is exploring 3D-printed missiles:
"“You can design internal features that might be impossible to machine,” said Raytheon engineer Travis Mayberry, who is researching future uses of additive manufacturing and 3-D printing. “We’re trying new designs for thermal improvements and lightweight structures, things we couldn’t achieve with any other manufacturing method.”
With commercially available high-end equipment and specially modified versions of low-cost 3-D printers, Raytheon researchers have created nearly every component of a guided weapon using 3-D printing, including rocket engines, fins, parts for the guidance and control systems, and more."

That base arty firing on the squad upgrade didn't look too impressive, the scatter was totally wild. |
China's got a drone launched by cannon. Once airborne, it loiters and uses a laser designator to pick out targets that can now be shelled by the same gun that launched the drone.
Interestingly, this is prefigured in science fiction, in this case Sword Of The Stars 2's Complex Ordnance Launcher.

The m5 quad and m20 and stuart etc all come early game. Or do you consider the first two minutes to be the only early game that exists?
I think that's a 'how long is a piece of string' question and no answer I gave could or would be particularly useful or meaningful. |
