One solid reason not to change it so that Sturm pios get shreks instead is that the chance of drop would be so high would it not?
OK I read everyone's comments and basically we get a list like this.
1a. Bump Volks to popcap 8.
1b. Increase Volks reinforcement cost.
2a. Slow down Volks vetting speed. They get to 5 every game because of vehicle kills. Getting to vet5 should be much harder. Give them less XP when it's the Shreks that make the kill, if possible.
2b. Change what the 5 vet levels actually buff. Long range accuracy buff for Shreks is to high and/or not needed.
3a. Reduce Shrek spam by making Obers have to buy their LMG. If all MUN is being spent on buying shreks, then OKW's anti-infantry potential should suffer late game.
4a. Shrek accuracy at long range needs to be reduced.
4b. Shreks perform to well as anti-infantry. That sniper kill shot with shreks has got to go. Logically, equipping a Volk with AT should reduce their anti-infantry DPS, not increase it.
OR an entirely different idea, which could make use of some of the options above, would be to change the Shrek upgrade to a PzB AT rifle instead. Works against light vehicles for early game AT potential, and encourages flanking Allied tanks late game to be effective. OKW has other options for late game anti-tank that they don't need Volks with shreks. Volks with PzB AT would provide support, rather then be the spearhead as they currently are. |
Remember guys, it was possible to play shooters and RTS's in the 90's on 3kb per second dialup. 28.8 baud modems man!It does not take that much of a data stream to send constant coordinates. The info in COH2 is not really much different than it was for Starcraft in 1998, or Command and Conquer in 1996. We run at over a 1000 times that old bandwidth. Even when broadband is poor it should be more than enough. That's why you guys notice no difference. 20kb/s is 6 times better than I got with my 28.8 modem. People in 1998 would have freaked at that kind of speed. |
For me these 2-3 second lockups have been with me since the beginning. That was during beta before the launch of game. So it has nothing to do with updates, or what they did to battle servers etc. If you are playing online and it stops then goes into fast forward that is actually a feature not a bug. And while it may look like the same thing as the normal lockup the reasons behind why they happen are different. For the online lockup it's due to lag and that's the normal response. Offline playing the campaign or doing a comp stomp it happens and I guess the programers have not figured out why yet. I has nothing to do with PC power. You could build a $3000 PC and it would still do this. And it happens to both AMD and Intel users so its not a CPU related program bug. Hopefully some day we get a patch that makes it go away for good. |
Hertgen forest is fun but it needs two fixes.
1. The regular point above the southern VP has been a typical place were everyone wires it shut once they take it. With 3 tiny holes to plug it's far to easy to close off.
2. The fuel on the lower right is not as safe for the upper right player to take and hold. Clearly the upper left fuel point favors the bottom player due to the trenches, so they have an easier time defending there and thus prefer taking and holding that one as a priority. The converse is not a true. The other fuel point is equally accessible to either side. Every single game I've had where I had to choose that one, I had a harder time holding it. Defensibly these 2 fuels are not equal. |
The Soviet and Wehrmacht charts aren't in PDF form like the other 2. Therefore saving them and using their links to the units wikis doesn't work. |
There is a number between 4 and 6. Why aren't 5 man weapon teams on the table if they feel 6 is to many. Others are saying 4 is to few unless you buff a ton. So maybe 5 will be just right without having to buff the weapon teams at all. With one less man the German sniper becomes just a bit more useful for weapon team hunting. |
Community spotlight needs to be not forgotten. I like the idea, but why haven't I seen some map rotation?
Serpent Basin should be in the spotlight as well. I love it. |
Several should just be retired instead of being fixed.

One thing nobody seems to ever talk about is tactical map updates. I would appreciate it if the mini map exactly matched the full map. Every time there is an update to a map, say a house is moved or removed, the mini map is never updated to reflect that. It always stays day 1 version. Is it hard and time consuming to have an updated tactical map re-rendered? IDK, but my guess is that the map engine probably generates it for you, and the map updaters are just skipping that step all the time.
This has been an issue since vCOH as well. When I see units garrisoned inside a house on the tactical map, and their position is not where the house silhouette is it just stands out to me. I'm the kind of person that would fix that if I could. If I was a map maker, I would certainly give as much attention to the tactical maps accuracy as I do the full one. |
