And I thought that was perfectly fine. I actually don't like the change, because I liked the PIV call ins and the T4 sturmtiger.
But then again, I think a lot of the very powerful units should be reworked.
Well the PIV call in's were shit and the T4 Sturmtiger was the least built tank in the game so.... |
I was waiting for you to refer to that. Thanks for not disappointing. Also I like how you don't address my counter arguments and start to attack my person instead but judging by the nonsense you usually write I shouldn't be surprise by this.
I didn't attack you, you accused me of being an idiot and started derailing the thread by preaching about how knowledgeable you are compared to me.
Also that game was bad play on my behalf. I thought you're so bad I would be able to beat you even after not playing for quite a while. I was proven wrong.
lol
Now there are many people on this forum I played with as a team partner or at random who can prove my skill at this game. That game also proved your skill to me. It looks like its supporting your lack of basic knowledge of mechanics and your heavily biased opinions, although I should call them OKW wishlist.
That's that.

A hall of (2) companions (who barely play the game) that's for sure. If I have such awful knowledge of mechanics then how did I get to top 50 as OKW? Or top 200 as Ost? Save your drama inducing rants for the shoutbox.
What's hilarious you talk how bad MG34 suppression is and you quote data that proves otherwise. Gold!
It has the worst DPS and suppression at far. It doesn't do decent enough suppression compared to an MG of similar cost (the maxim) while having the worst DPS profile at far of any unit in the entire game.
imo, it suffers from same problem as all okw infantry - it sucks until it gets vetted. At least its easier to vet than other mgs. Vet4 and 5 buffs look powerful, and probably close the gap between mg-34 and other mgs, but base suppression rate should be just a bit higher imo. Its the only mg right now that cant supress units in cover.
lol, I just realized that 50cal should be a beast at vet2 with that -55% set up time, too bad that it gets killed in the first engagement everytime I use it
Except that even when at Vet 5 it still can't win against any of the other MG's, so there isn't much point. |
By far shooting through objects. The old sturmtiger could reliably wipe one squad and kill a bunch of stuff in its AOE, now it wipes everything.
If it can shoot through shotblockers in the FOW then there needs to be a chance for the squad to survive.
Before it couldn't reliably wipe one squad because the damage drop off at far was insane. The damage modifier at far used to be .003, which was changed to .3 with the new patch.
In the previous patch at all areas beyond 7.5 in it's 10 meter blast radius it did approx 32 damage. |
but the whole point of the question was if you had to pick only one
Once upon a time the Sturmtiger did poor AoE and nobody liked it. Once upon a time before that it's shell blew up on literally every world feature, barrel, fence post, and geometry object making using it impossible.
If you see recon plane and you don't move your units, you deserve to lose squads due to B-4.
Sounds similar.
Or if you here a sound of B-4 and you don't move your units, you deserve to lose them
Hearing a B4 shot is pretty hard of over the din of battle, and it's impossible to predict were a B4 shot will land due to scatter and the fact it has 250 range. You also don't need a recon plane to use the B4.
There is a world of difference from an B4 1 shotting a PIV on the other side of the map and a Sturmtiger driving up to a 60 range unit that can scout for itself and killing it. If you let a Sturmtiger drive over an open field at you and kill you then just lol.
As Lemon said before; the go to counter to the Sturmtiger is AT guns, since the Sturmtiger doesn't have enough armor to reliably bounce shots and it can't kill AT guns (the gun itself) anymore. |
Is Rifle Company commander too good?
Thinking further on it, I'm certain every (high level) live match and cast I've watched over the past two months has not featured a USF player going Airborne for Paras.
I know we are talking stock units here, but thinking about how Flamer is a better upgrade to BAR, what happened to Paratroopers?
Is it simply that E8 and Flamer are too good to pass up?
Rifle Company is basically a commander reserved for CQC maps were the flamers can shine. It also allows you to replace your lost squads with vetted ones. The vet call in also allows you to apply more pressure early game with AT nades.
Airborne and Armor are the two most popular commanders, since 1 gives you extremely powerful elite infantry that can reinforce in the field with beacons. Paras with 1919s will beat any Axis infantry unit head on and win fairly easily. Another trick is BAR Pathfinders, who vet up very fast and are extremely deadly.
Armor is great because Ass Engines give you demo charges, the M10 has good DPS, is the best crushing unit in the game, and you don't have to tech for it. The commander is essentially callinmeta.txt
A close third is Infantry Company, since it gives you heavy mobile indirect fire, powerful 360 suppression LMG's. |
my mistake then, I must have been confused when I read through he changes.Which then if you had to choose one (and in this hypothetical you do) which one would you pick?
Both, the only issue with the Sturmtiger right now is that it has a bugged reload you can preform instantly by using emergency crew repairs. |
been playing quite a bit of OKW lately, too be honest they should have chosen to buff either the AOE damage or the ability to shoot through objects, bud buffing both at the same time was a little overzealous.
They didn't buff it's ability to shoot through objects, it's been able to do that for almost 11 months now. The reason the AoE is was changed is that the drop off in damage from the center of the blast was insane and it resulted in it being a very poor weapon to counter blobs that moved.
Was watching Rogers play a 2v2 last night on a stream.
He one hit a Vet 3 SU85 frontally, like it was just demolished. And people don't see this as an issue? I'm genuinely confused by the delusional ones defending this.
I'm getting flashbacks to the people defending pre-nerf Obers
If he let his SU-85 which is able to scout for itself get 1 shot from the front by a Sturmtiger he deserved it. |
The pack up time is, as it has always been, compensated for with a larger arc. Not to mention a much better vet 1 ability.
The MG42 is a defensive MG, the .50 cal is an offensive MG. It's much easier to play aggressively with .50 cal's because they can re-position quickly. This ofc doesn't mean that the .50 is perfect, but it's waaaaaaay better than it used to be.
|
I'd even say my understanding of OKW is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than yours

You sure proved it that game didn't you |
Wait wait wait, people are complaining about the MG34, which needs a slight DPS buff, but not to much with its current price. I can get on board with that. However:
HMG42 260MP
DPS: close: 27.7200, Far: 6.1064
Suppression close: 0.4752 Far: 0.2592
setup time 0.65
.50 Cal 280MP
DPS: close 26.8169 far: 6.0225
Suppression close:0.4950 Far: 0.2400
WTF? I would think that the .50 should be doing either more damage or more suppression. This is kind of bullshit. Especially since it hits the field so much later.
Don't compare the MG34's effectiveness to that of the MG42. The MG42 is definitely overperforming for cost.
Are you just going to gloss over the fact the .50 cal has a much shorter pack up time? I think what the .50 cal needs is 1 more crew member (all USF and OKW crews should be 5 men). The .50 cal also needs more armor and health on the gun, so it doesn't break so easily.
I don't know why you insist on belittling my experience. If you think 4v4 has a longer early game than 1v1 and 2v2 then I think you need to play more 4v4. While I may not have as much experience in smaller games I certainly cannot be said not to play in them routinely. Numerous people have already pointed out why a serious buff right now is dangerous unless other things happen.
Numerous other people with very few games played as Oberkommando West. The cost of the 34 could be increased to prevent spam (your biggest worry) but the reason I'm highlight the fact you don't play the competative game modes is that OKW plays very very differently in those.
You don't need to rely on it because your tech tree already offers you everything you need to win. It only adds flavor to the faction. I find the MG34 quite useful in a narrow window. I would like to see things changed to offer it more room to work.
I don't think other things in the faction being good justifies something being bad, Soviets are very powerful, does this justify Penals being shit?
Last thing, if you want to counter MG's with MG's be my guest, but I would really recommend looking into your tech tree for another option besides it costs less than all other MG's in the game (especially including tech costs). Using the MG34 to slug it out with another MG is definitely trouble.
The point I was making was that it has very little killing power no matter high you get it vetted up. The fact that an MG can just walk into it's arc, set up, and kill it easily is dumb as hell. And why do you talk down to me so much? |
