Someone more talented can answer I'm sure The Ostheer mortar has always hit what I was shooting at, I much prefer it to the 82mm. I would rather see Allies be given more and better options than taking all of Ostheers toys away. That way it can retain its bonuses over the stock Soviet mortar and also have a reason for performing so well. I think the SOviet mortar is pretty OK for price, so I'd rather see it stay the same. The German mortar is more than fragile enough to get rid of if it's annoying you to much (and at max range even firing full speed it won't hit much), increasing it's price will just make Ostheer in 1's and 2's even more of a bitch to play early game were your strapped for MP. The Soviet mortar doesn't need a HUGE buff, it just needs a reload of 5 seconds. In: COH2 Gameplay

With decent micro, it is slightly more effective than a puma vs. infantry, but a Luchs is infinetly better vs. infantry. Just looking at the units changed stats can tell you that. "Health increased from 320 to 400 Moving accuracy increased from 0.5 to 0.75 Penetration increased from 45/45/60 to 45/50/65 FOW Scatter multiplier penalty reduced from 300% to 25%" The patch made it slightly better vs. vehicles, as survivable as a Luchs HP wise, better on the move, and significantly decreased the FOW multiplier which is mainly useful when getting the last shot off on a retreating vehicle behind smoke/ a hedgerow, not infantry. The only change that helps vs. infantry is the on the move penalty, and all that does is make it slightly better on the move. The base accuracy and AOE are very low, and as a result it is more of an infantry sniper than anything else. Even on the move. There is no way in hell a Stuart is ever going to kill nearly as many models (or be as annoying) as the Luchs, when the Luchs also doesn't have to fear shrecks on half the squads it fights. The Luchs is better versus enemy infantry because it's anti armor performance is fairly bleh. The Stuart now (Iv seen it done plenty) can kite like it's never been able to before and now that it can actually take an extra it it can make more use of it's anti-armor abilities. In 3's and 4's it's still shit, in 2's and 1's it works well for it's price. It could still obviously maybe use a little bit more pen or damage but right now its light years ahead of what it used to be. It can also instantly repair crits on it's self, hop out and repair 1 HP and the vehicle is back and moving. EDIT: To put things in perspective it's moving accuracy is .75 now compared to the Luchs .25. In: COH2 Balance

So yes, while technically the Soviet mortar is more accurate, the German mortar in indubitably more powerful, as 3x shells fired on target in the same amount of time will have a much larger impact than a single, slightly better aimed shell. I never said it was better, I said accuracy is what it's gimmick was. Relic's (interesting) reasoning for this is that the Ost mortar is supposed to be used to support a defensive line and the Soviet one is meant for assaulting a defensive one. That said; the Soviet mortar really does need a ROF buff. In: COH2 Gameplay

I agree with pretty much you entire post but the Stuart now has fairly good performance versus infantry since the buff. With decent micro it can be just as annoying as the Luch's can with more utility versus enemy armor. In: COH2 Balance

I said "essentially" for a reason unless they are coming up with entirely new art assets for everything (which is why I said it's possible they are redoing a LOT of shit) the gap between the Alpha and Sept 1 is weird. Like the phased introduction for the alpha changes makes me suspect Relic wants to drop something big because they are moving on to DoW3, but eh, the faster they get back to what they do best the better.
