is it the bug where only the models alive when you unlock forward observers actually get it?
No, I've heard about that bug and tried to recreate it, but haven't been able to make it happen. I think this bug is as simple as having the ability get disabled in combat and never again reenabled. It may also be triggered by the squad dropping to 1 or 2 models.
Here is another replay. The rifle squad brought in after 1 cp definitely gets the ability. The one brought in before 1 cp gets the ability but then loses it.
Also, was that extreme nerf that was applied to cannister shot intentional? It does less damage than main gun and is completely useless now.
This commander would be fun if
1) you fixed the bug
2) either reverted canister shot or replaced it with spotting scopes (to make it the same as a 222 with spotting scope) or the same mine as the utility car
3) replaced airdropped combat group. The combat group is one of the worst high-cp abilities in the game. A 3 cp regular paratrooper would be better, or a 4 cp, slightly more expensive paratrooper with either better vision (like panzerfusiliers) or m1919's.
Here is a short replay showing the forward observer bug. It might be a couple of different bugs. The enhanced sight sometimes gets disabled while in combat, then doesn't come back. If the squad loses too many models, it also seems to be disabled and does not come back.
I don't see this commander very often, since it was nerfed.
Imho the increased delay and reduced conversion have balanced it.
It seems pretty rare that people even use the strafes. Unless you're not watching for a long time, the strafes don't hit anything. Even when people are going CAS, they're probably using it more for the grenadier upgrades, rifle grenades, and mine fields. I've ran into about as many people using the Osttruppen commander (with the same conversion ability but railway arty and Osttruppen) than CAS lately.
I mean it was really silly. Your grens are clothed as needed, all warm and cozy running around in snow but then suddenly start freezing because a "blizzard" comes up?
I was born near the Rzhev area myself actually and there was no phenomenon like this at all. We had snow storms over several hours, huge snow fall which obscured vision, which sometimes left huge amounts of snow but it was not like there were huge temperature jumps within hours, which could make you freeze in proper clothes when you were caught by it in the forest or similar. Maybe this is a North american thing, but there was certainly nothing like this in Western Russia I can confirm from my personal experience of 10 years living there.
There is nothing like that here either. It normally gets warmer when it snows, at least temporarily.
This is just another case of Relic being sloppy, just like they were with who it was that had difficulty during the winter.
Thing with this is,the cold in this game is modeled after the historically, stupidly, insanely, cold winter of 1941. Thats why its so drastic.
I think cold tech should stay on maps like Rzhev,Moscow, etc,to fit the theme of the map/game.
But maps like lierneux, lanzerath, shouldnt have this insane cold at all,and if they do,just make it debuff style" with no deaths, just reduced combat effectiveness.
If so, then why don't all of the Soviets have default cold immunity, instead of the western front Germans? Why can sturmpios move at regular speed instead of the Soviets? There is nothing "historical" about this shit. It's about as "historical" as US ground troops getting regularly strafed by the Luftwaffe. /endrant
Cold tech could have been okay, but troops freezing in cold weather is not only unrealistic, it doesn't add anything to the game besides a load on the GPU. Had they just had it affect visibility, mobility, and troop reaction time, it could have been okay.
Why would anyone get M15 again when Stuart is much better, price comparable and comes with much useful tier?
You get it when someone is using Stuka CAS loiter. Even then, loiter is almost guaranteed to kill at least one tank, even if you retreat immediately and have the M15. If they don't have it, the Stuart is better.
Well pack can't shoot at you from half a map away, behind a flaq truck.
I played a match on Langreskaya today against someone who used one of those. He put his med truck in front of his cutoff (he was on south side) and killed one ambulance in my base that was right next to the circus tents. That's more than half of the map on Langreskaya.
He also pulled in two walking stukas and three KT's. After losing the last KT, he left the game, declaring that he didn't care anymore, like he had somehow been traumatized by him hitting me with double stukas and KT's for over an hour.
