I've managed to win a late game 1v1 vs OKW where he had the fuel and general edge through the game because I was retarded enough and went with cap tier even though I spotted the medic truck, the guy was 600-something rated with okw, all in all, I feel that if the jackson penetrated reliabily and the OKW flak HQ had less range it could become a rather balanced MU (considering that double bars and m1a1 paras perform very good vs fashj and obers).
Also I wouldn't go sherman vs okw, unless you are planning on spamming them, the scott into jacksons is a much better choice especially because shreck volks blob are a thing, and then play heavily with infantry, you want to invest your ammo in bars and then stock them up late game for the p47 if you want airborne.

Unless the map is 100% symetrical, you can't expect a "perfect" balanced map. Taking as example Kharkov, that's a map on which one side has an easier cutoff vs a bit closer to the vp aproach.
I don't see the problem with this?
You can have symetrical maps that are different to the eye (talking about models used for obstacles/cover/houses etc), so you don't just build half of map and mirror the other half. |

+1 to Ciez, if you wanted to talk about an unfair MU like ost vs usf you should have talked about OKW vs USF, now that's more or less unwinnable unless RNG heavily favors the USF player once the panthers start rolling out.
On the other hand, the only wrong things about the Soviet vs OKW MU are timing that heavily favor one faction or the other in specific moments, as it was pointed out before the M3 completely dominates the early game with no counterplay avaible, then it's the turn of the okw, then it quickly swings back to the soviet if they went 34/85s or evens out between panthers and ISU/IS-2 call ins.
Edit: about the guards, they are indeed "bad" right now, but they have the potential to become broken, what I would suggest about them is to separate PTRS and LMG upgrades, buffing both to useful levels but mutually exclusive.
PTRS upgrade would grant 1 or 2 PTRS with a way higher dps than now and the button ability, basically they cover a semi-decent AT role by themselves even against medium tanks.
The LMG upgrade would again give them 1 LMG with appropriate damage for the anti infantry role, and some other utility against infantry, no button. |

Beside, I can only be disgusted by the way they have been handling everything, from bug fixes to patches of even old games that if left alone, would be in a better state right now, to their Q&As, I mean seriously? yesterday they ignored everysingle questions that wasn't something generic or asnwered with "we'll move this to team X", "Bring it on the forums","Be more specific", the last one, was the answer when someone asked, what do you think of the MU between USF and OST?

Another issue ostheer has been having is pgrens, are not very durable for an expensive 340mp 4 man squad,

On a serious note, I don't think the infantry fight is all that broken, the problems are the ridicolous manpower costs which will magically make your numbers inferior despite grens being 240 and rifles 280 and the m20.
The m20 is an issue on it's own, it comes too early OR it's too powerful, if it was nerfed to come out 2-3 minutes late it would be fine I think, otherwise with the current timing it needs to become as weak as the 221/222 against infantry and it's smoke moved to vet 1. |
OKW is the best faction right now, but people are over exaggerating, the volks and obers are the core units of this faction, and that's the reason why they are spammed, the other is because they are overperforming abit, yes it's just abit contrary to what many want to think, volks AI isn't great but they make up for that by providing a rather hard to kill unit with AV strong enough to counter medium tanks and damage heavy tanks, obers are simply doing too much damage and can fire their lmg on the move, fixed these 3 things I don't think they will be OP anymore, the panther is fine and needed as it is, perhaps only it's speed needs to be toned down to the ost levels, with the changes above the early and mid game will be much weaker, meaning less map control, less resources overall and more bleed from your own infantry, meaning that the KT will be delayed way more than it is now and it's costs will be more than justified. |
That isn't the solution and I didn't say it was. I think once the Jackson vs OKW issue is fixed we can look at how to balance it relative to Ostheer. Just my opinion though.
The damage is too high, but it needs a pen buff, we all know that, but how it is fine vs OKW? Anything below the panther can be dealt with AT cannons, zookas or a sherman, the 1-2 jacksons would be the answer vs KT and panthers, and against those it retains the problem that it barely ever penetrates, although if you are lucky with RNG they will go down rather quickly.
So again, it has no reason to have that high damage, and it doesn't have any reason to have that low pen, the rest of the problem in the USF and OKW match up lies mostly in the obersoldaten and vet4-5 volks but that's a different issue to fix, nothing to do with having a tank that 3 shots panzer4s and almost 4 shots tigers. |
The tiger is pretty trash in team games where you need to go on the offensive, the speed, AT damage and range of the panthers makes it way better at dealing with tanks and heavy tanks, while you can use your vetted infantry and long range nades to deal with their inf/support weapons, all coupled with a sniper makes the panther >>>> tiger in any late situation for 2s,3s,4s with the exeption of a map like semosky and a few others. |
