^^
Totally agree.
My biggest issue personally with OKW is not that particular units are unbeatable or something (because they aren't, let's face it, and there are counters). It's that the OKW player can make piles of mistakes and still have a chance of winning mid game or late game. Meanwhile the Soviets, if they stuff up just once, will be rolled over late game by the blobs and the Heavy tanks.
That's the issue here, not that certain units are OP, sure, those units being OP doesn't make things any easier, but the fact that Soviets can't afford a) to have a bad early game and b) to make many mistakes, whilst OKW can, is simply ridiculously unfair.
Once again, Soviets are shafted into boring strats and a meta that doesn't reward skill, just right doctrine choice. It's absolutely pitiful faction design. Don't get me started on OKW's faults...
That's strange, because before WFA that was exactly the soviet faction's problem. Piles of mistakes and still win in front of Ostheer. Could they have a taste now from their own medicine? I tend to say yes, because OKW has a simple build order, simple and efficient, that can counter most of the soviet shit and dominate them. What none of you guys mentioned is that OKW has a weak point. Didn't you observe that most of okw players like to start with T2 (the jagdpanzer building)? This creates the premises for a strong gameplay in late game but makes the OKW player temporarely vulnerable in early game, where you can quickly pump some T34 + T70 or 2 T34s and whipe him of the map. 2 shrecks won't stop that, and you know it. That is exactly the reason for which in 1v1 I almost allways start with T3 (the puma building). This strategy has its own disadvantages, you can't push your buldings (trucks) to far outside the base except T4, but gives you a quick and mobile AT counter to compensate. But hey, even in a T3 start case the soviet player has a good chance, IF he started with T2. So see? It's a matter of inspiration good play and experience. |
Hey OP, are you trolling or what? If you do, please don't do it anymore, you are wasting everyone's time reading all these nonsense about OKW being underpowered. ...Seriously.... |
I wanna see a 1942 mod, basically like the theatre of war missions where you only have access to early war units.
The heaviest units would be KV-1s and Tigers, but most combat would be with infantry and light vehicles. ATGs would be the soviet 45mm and axis 37mm guns, vehicles would mostly be scout cars, halftracks and P3/BT-series tanks. Teching up would get you P4 (stubby) and T-34/76s. All you'd need to do is add a Panzer 3 and an early war soviet tank model.
You could also mod the US faction into an early war one for the afrika campaign.
[/quotte]
You don't know much about Ww2 are you? What you described is more appropriate for a 1941 mode. 1942 would mean pz4 f2, pz4 ausf g, Tiger and same old armor for soviets like t34s and kv1s but a little more of them and Kv2. Alot fewer bt5 or t26s or such. No fausts or shrecks though. Light vehicles are anyway to poorly represented in the game because they were alot during the whole war. |
id take lmg grens over rifles and and every day
I would to. Not over BAR rifles I won't, especially if they have the grenade upgrade active. |
Play Ostheer into top 100, and tell me this again.
Gren is the worst basic infantry in game, with only 4 dudes you are forced to retreat at 2 or 1 men, and if you retreat at 1, it is very risky, yet they have very high reinforcing cost. At T1 stage, those guys are totally worthless and bleeding you manpower against horde of rioting Cons. No matter how good you use them in cover, Rifles just come over and kick their ass like Grens are untrained. I did't even mention vet 2 Rifles come out from nowhere at 90 seconds mark.
At T2 they have LMG and begin to shine, their vet make them becomes good, but no matter how good you preserving them, squad cover AI ALWAYS making them being one shot by any AOE.
Ostheer does not just only get fucked by their pathetic tech cost, their ridiculous reinforcing cost and squad AI (lowest squad member) making any Ostheer player getting frustrated.
Prottruppen / Assgren doc is the sole saving grace of Ostheer by now.
100% true unfortunately. You cannot rely on grens but from 2 vet level and untill then you have to pray they live. Further, even vetted, they are more susceptible to be wiped by AOE weapons than any other faction infantry. As Ostheer you get cornered from start game, you try to resist and if you do untill Tigers, you win. If you don't you lose. Teching cost is a bitch and the reward for teching is to small. Ostheer is the only faction you cannot be upset on for abusing of heavy call ins. What else can they do? |
What time is it? |
Paras are not overperforming, c'mon. They are not obers in US uniforms, rather shock troops in US uniforms keeping proportions of course.
They are what an elite infantry should be, except I don't undesrtand why ELITE infantry which is supposed to be far less common than other units has 6 men! Whatever....
Comming back, the only elite unit that is uberperforming is obersoldaten and for a reason: the faction's income handicap. They require some small tone down though I guess. |
I hate OKW blobbing style.
That's to bad. They are fun, especially when you see soviets and USF rage quitting. Ok, I must admit, I have more fun vs soviet rage quitters.
And no,usf outscales ost infantry as well. When both are vetted double bars will beat lmgs.at 5 models they are less susceptible to wipe. But most of all the 1919 has no ost counter.Neither does paras blobs at 28 reinforce.LMG grens hold an advantage in midgame for a window of time, earlygame and lategame none.
Less susceptible to wipe, expensive like burning hell to build and reinforce especially when they are alot. Double bars are... 120 amo, right? Dunno if in my USF games I have more than one rifle squad with double BAR. I tend to say no. I need amo with USF for to much staff in order to invest it just in BARS. The counter of 1919 is the rifle grenade. Didn't you know? Let me explain: In order to shoot that nasty 1919 the rifle squad must stay still. Just rifle nade it to death. I prefer bars 1000 times over the 1919 because I can be mobile and I can run all over with my small rifle blob. 1919 is best investment for paras BECAUSE THEY CAN SHOOT IT WHILE RUNNING. Paras what? Blobs? Seriously, I wanna have some vehicles to on the field not just infantry. And vehicles cost manpower too, you know? |
Lieutenant -oh the free unit that pwns my grenadiers and also outnumbers my army. You want it more cost-effective than free?Go ahead, lol.American infantry need all the buffs they can get after all.Paratrooper reinforce should also be reduced to 25,28 is too cost-ineffective.
Why are you so upset on USF infantry? Ok, I partially understand if you're playing just Ostheer, in early game you are overwhelmed. But the reinforcement, unit costs and experience scalling are working in your favor throughout the game. If the USF player it's not a devil or clearly better than you or he fails to properly preserve his infantry, you have a good chance to win. USF has a big manpower bleed problem in middle and end game.
Wanna clearly dominate USF and burry them into the ground since beginning? Play OKW |
+1
I think Vonivan misread this post.
Nope, he didn't. It's something he does. Besides an incomprehensible veneration for Cruzz I didn't see him appreciating anyone else. |
