Why should I? A US player is still going to tech to either T2 or T3 and then T4 regardless of whether they get E8s or not. The double T-34/85 call in is too good. I would expect them to destroy infantry, Panzer IVs and StuGs, but not a dedicated anti tank end of tech tree tank. A well microed Panther should make short process with medium tanks. But even if you keep your frontal armor constantly at the enemy, the Panther will lose to two medium tanks - and that is bad. Should it really? You're talking about a 490/175 tank winning against 740/260 worth of armour or, in the case of two E8s, 760/270 worth of armour. You can make the argument that the teching cost needs to be factored in, but the Soviets and US are typically going to tech to T3/T4 anyway out of necessity. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Diversifing the DPS roles of Penals and Cons26 Jul 2014, 08:57 AM It would be cool to see Penals as some sort of mid-tier infantry with SVTs serving as a sort of G43 equivalent. It can solo a KT easily ( without sup) and I think its too powerfull since its so cheap. Most of the tanks in the game can 'solo' a KT if you just leave it unsupported in the open and allow it to be circle strafed for 10 minutes. Honestly, I like the E8 as it is. Relying on tank destroyers made of balsa wood during the late-game gets tiresome. It's nice to have a tank with at least some body. The T34/85 comes cheaper as far as I know and is arguably better at killing heavy armour with its ability. Post-nerf, the elite rifle commander really isn't too bad in my opinion - if only because, with the new CD, you will typically only get a single vet rifle squad out during the early game. Thread: Ettelbruck station unbalance - team games23 Jul 2014, 02:30 AM Not that anyone really cares about 3v3 and 4v4, but I personally veto this map when playing as US. It's far too difficult to beat turtling OKW players, especially when your Jacksons are forced to face-tank shells because of all of the narrow streets and chokepoints. Superior German arty also makes it a nightmare. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: State of the balance according to Imperial Dane21 Jul 2014, 09:17 AM To be honest, I think there are a lot of things that could be reshuffled between the tiers for the US - both to fix balance issues and make the US early game a little less one-dimensional. More than anything else, the pathing and target acquisition issues with the Kubel, Jackson etc need to be fixed. Having to babysit those units constantly so they don't commit suicide or do something equally idiotic is just infuriating. I'll also echo the sentiment that the OKW inf support gun is too accurate. I've watched that thing gib squad after squad and 2-3 shot halftracks without missing once. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: So when do US terminator units get a nerf?21 Jul 2014, 04:04 AM Rifles are great early-game units, to be sure, but they get stomped by Obers, Fusiliers and FSJs during the mid-late game - especially when the latter are vetted up. Paras are just overpriced junk that aren't worth buying 90% of the time. If you want to whinge about the Kubel pathing, you should probably check out the pathing and target priority on the Jackson some time. Kubel AI will suddenly seem competent by comparison.
