Liked the guide, it's nice you included cut off points |
After some more games, I really like how this commander is set up. I think Sprint on all infantry is actually incredibly strong and opens up a lot of tactical opportunities late game. Stuff like smoke barrage + sprinting Grens to break defences e.t.c.
I also think Stormtroopers are really exceptional in a dedicated vehicle hunting role. That Katyusha bothering you? ISU being repaired on 10% HP? Spawn Storms from a nearby building out of LOS, and wait for Panzerschreck upgrade to complete. Then, use Armoured Vehicle Detection and go for it. Sprint ensures it won't get away. The STG upgrade is also pretty good, although I'm not sure how different from PGrens they are (anyone got the DPS stats yet?).
I think all the Close the Pocket, economy harassment stuff should be seen as super-luxury, rather than the core of the doctrine.
My thoughts exactly. A much better commander than new Soviets commander IMO. Sprint is now 0CP too |
Otto Carius, as commander of S.Pz. Jäg.Abt. 512, once apparently destroyed a Sherman by firing right through a house...they might have read his book...or it might just be a yet unresolved bug, choice is yours.
His book isn't usually considered that accurate, although I bet this particular instance is quite true. Still a rather OP feature, I don't believe any allied tank/AT gun shoot through objects |
Only static defense I use is Pak 43 and B4. A Pak 43 in the right spot eliminates all enemy armor, and the B4 is basically a reusable bombing run.
I'm a defensive player, but I mainly play vs AI or with friends |
I actually think massed, well microed Cons are extremely effective against OKW for most of the game. They beat Volks at all ranges, and 2 Cons can easily focus down a Sturmpioneer squad before taking any real damage. Molotovs make flanking MGs effective, and AT grenades deal significant damage to OKW light vehicles (2 can kill a Flak HT, which would otherwise counter Cons).
The only point where Cons start to suffer is when T3 comes, since Obersoldaten and the Luchs are very nasty against light infantry. IMO the best solution to this is simply rushing a T34, which Obers are helpless against. At that point, the only concern should be something like a Panther, but if you can take map control you should have plenty of time to prepare.
I don't think PPSHs are neccessary, but they do help Cons remain relevant a bit later in the game (since you can kind of swarm 4-man elite squads). The most important thing for Con-heavy strats is just being careful, not blobbing, exploiting flanking angles and harassing enemy resource points/cut-offs.
Probably the best commander for this sort of playstyle is Advanced Warfare. PPSH Cons with no tech (or maybe T2 for Zis Guns if needed), followed by T34-85 spam.
Cons better than Volks? Not for me |
WC51 sucks compared to Soviet's M3 halftrack. It needs a health buff IMO |
I think every faction is a mess. USF have strong AI from their core infantry but lack late game power, soviet conscripts scaling into late game quite poorly, OKW having units like JLI and Fallschirmjager that defeat conscripts at point blank when conscripts are in cover while they are not and Ost having redundant stuff like StuPa and Panther.
Very messy. I miss the time before WFA
Agreed. I've been playing MOW instead of this sh*t. The game is in desperate need of a patch |
That sucks dude! I feel the Scavenger Doctrine call-in arty is OP too. Of course there's not else much good on this commander, Jaegers suck, and Ostwind takes too long to get (8 CP are you kidding me!?)
Guess Relic thought they had to give them super-mega OP arty to balance them out |
Not by Wuff, but someone else beat him to it:

Virtually the same thing, except for the Western Front Armies.
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks |
We're working on producing Veterancy Guides for the new factions, will probably be a couple weeks still.
Has this been created yet? I have yet to find it |
