Note I said a team, not the entire studio.
I understand, just pointing out that the Rome2 team had in fact managed to fix the core of the game. Thus its is attainable by Relics team if the pieces fall into place. Sega is what makes that comparison worthwhile because they own both |
How long do you think it took them to plan, develop, and release WFA?
And you're leaving out one important aspect here... WFA allowed them to make money.
Entirely revamping all four factions is unrealistic.
You are leaving out the fact that if new content is developed that the projected earnings can be in jeopardy because its no different than having a 2 0year old car that you add bondo and paint to and try to sell it as a 5 year old car. The core of the game is crucial to its lifespan. BTW: Sega revamped the core of Rome2 and took large amounts of time to fix it before continuing to pump out dlc....FYI Sega owns CoH2. |
How feasible do you think that is? Do you think Relic has the manpower and time to handle a task as grandiose as this? I think that's far too ambitious for what they can do. Think realistically here.
I am thinking realisticly. They put out WFA.....they build 2 factions from the ground up; therefore, it is very plausible to revamp the 4 factions. |
Balance units and maps, fix bugs, adjust old commanders, and release new commanders.
You do relize that this will fix nothing correct? It would only create new issues. You can nerf Obers to the ground but there would still be issues with OKW....The game itself needs a core overhaul and a redesign of its Faction/Gamemode functionality. ALso adding new commanders and adjusting old would mean nothing but more units/abilities that would need to be taken into account when fixing the core of the game... |
Revisiting existing content and making adjustments (example: unit balancing, map balance, bug fixes)
Changing core functionality of the game (example: faction design, OBS, game modes)
I find that both of these choices are much more complex and tied together. You can fix bugs but without core changes in functionality revisiting existing content would be a weekly thing.....just my thoughts as a programmer. |
I like it, should it be more fitted to personality test? I.E. Soo many Real Men choices = being Real Men overall....do I make sense? |
To an extent yes becuase of the fact that with numerous bugs ppl have used to exploit the system so as to climb ladder rank. However, is it really fair to those who have not exploited anything and are just amazing players that have gotten their ranks from the beginning and have played the game when it was terrible (WFA Launch) till now? I think that due to this last point the ladder should not be reset.....just imo... |
Not one person here said CoH2 games aren't competitive. There's just no real reason for your average competitive-minded RTS player to choose CoH2 over a game like SC2.
Sadly Inverse is correct. CoH2 at its present state offers no incentive for any RTS fans other than "free play". Alot of people that I know play RTS games for the competition against other players. They want a sense of accomplishment over other people. Its human nature tbh. SC2 Rewards this with their in game ladders and dev sponsored tournys. What does Relic offer?.............
Also, coming from a player that has spend a few years on the CSGO Competitive/Tourny scene this game has alot of work ahead of it. Just my 2 cents. |
Carius' death wasn't mentioned on the media (especially in Germany) for various reasons.
Many of those who actually witnessed WW2 are dying out.
Monthly, people like the last platoon leader of the Jagdpanzer battalion or the last gunner of a Panzer IV may die, but are not mentioned anywhere.
Of course the difference between Carius and other men is that had more confirmed kills than most other tankers.
But treating him differently because of this, therefore giving him publicity because he was a war hero in WW2, would be unnecessary glorification and despises others who died, but didn't have the same amount of kills.
Just my opinion ;-)
Your Correct it was not mentioned and the reasons are indeed complex. But as you point out many of the men and women that witnessed WW2 are dying out. Its a shame they are not mentioned anywhere as they should be. All soldiers should for they have endured a hardship many can not fathom or ever will understand. But I beg to disagree with treating him differently. I have not treated the remembrance of Otto Carius any different than my own Grandfather. I made this Post not in honor of his kills but for his act of duty. The difference between Carius and my Grandfather is my Grandfather was a FeldWebel, and in a different Division. Furthermore Carius was more widely known upon the world stage. nothing more nothing less separates them. This is why the remembrance of Otto Carius is not a glorification but rather a time of reflection and respect.

One of the finest tank commanders in WW2(Not better than Wittmann though) and gave the Americans and Russians one hell of a fight, so he has my respect. I wonder if the modern German Army will attend his funeral or pay respects? In a way, men like Otto Cariius, Wittmann and Kurt Knispel paved the way for modern tank combat, and if there's any tank aces that emerge from future conflicts, they'll have these German tank commanders to thank.
I have no idea as to what the German army will do (if anything) but ill see if I cant find out. It would be a shame to not honor the death of any soldier no matter what.
BTW: Comparing Wittmann to Carius or Carius to Knispel can not be used in defining "the best". Wittmann never operated a Jagtiger, Carius did, thus how can they be similar (just an example)? He was a tank ace yes but one can not say which was the better. They all where not in competition and only did what needed to be done of them. |
