For OH I would suggest that 250 come with an MG mounted on top. No supression just something sdkfz style. Totally agree on grens and pzgrens replacement with storms. In german mechanized doctrine they my come with stgs and in Mechanised assault they may come equiped with a shreck. And no reinforcement ability for the 250 ht.

The problem with volks is when you pair them with Raktenwerfers, Obers and leigs. They can pretty much A-move that combination at you and the only way to fight it is with demos and arty.
Even post revamp you get punished for playing okw intelligently like you would other factions, the entire point is to rush a luchs, make a long range A-move blob, and try and recklessly kill all, and then get a heavy vehicle. If your opponent can blob counter you can't win, and if they can't counter your blob then you win. It's horrible game flow, and imo it's because okw can't do combined arms properly and because volks really conflict with the faction design.
While it's balanced, every okw match up is horribly boring, and the reliance on the factions building pop out infantry and doctrines for basics like HMGs is just sad and not fun to play as or against. Looking at the mission statement of the faction it's fair to say that Relic failed on every level with the okw. (USF and UKF design is great IMO, I'm not a relic basher.)

I think swapping the AT gun for some kind of RE upgrade that greatly increases their utility would be more fitting. What if REs could build advanced structures, reinforced fighting pits, better wire, and mines?
Then Rifle field defenses could be replaced with something that gives the commanders early game some use other than defense: a HTD ability for Rifles would be neat. But then the muni based ability would be wasted.
I think that would be turned into a similar ability that lets riflemen capture territories faster and attack faster, a counter attack ability.
I love the covering arty idea, and the USF did this ALOT during the Bulge, it's what helped them contain the heavy panzer divisions deployed in the northern combat area; at what point the Americans had 700 concentrated guns disrupting armored attacks.
Lastly, the Jumbo-I love it. If Relic doesn't want a new model, EZ8 or Bulldozer would work too. |
New units are tricky to balance, and cost lots of resources to build, making them not worth it half the time. |
Yeah. More bunkers would indirectly help Ost Faust lights because grens would garrison all over which would be cool. |
