Ive had lots of fun vs Ostheer blowing up the defensive bunkers in their base with IR path ninja arty and then marching my rifles in to party. I've only tried it twice.Typically happens if I dominate with rifles and smoke early game and have lots of munitions. If I catch the enemy with their pants down in base I go greyhound.

Even if rifle nades didn't exist the .50 cal and dhsk wouldn't be worth it because the allies not defending much (unless your guarding an isolated point or you f***** up early game) combined with the Ostheer non-doc mega mortar.
Honestly changing rifle nades out for a different ability or different implementation could buff Grens in a way. |
I agree with what your saying. Pretty much my point though is you can't really compare the situation now to then because of shitty maps, HMGs capping, and the WFA being limited as hell. (Tbh I was a vcoh comp stomper, so I'll take your word on multiplayer balance.)

No true Scotsman, we are discussing price and how it relates to flanking 3 man hmg teams supported by Volks. And rifles were the cheapest basic infantry besides panzgrens. (Right?)
MGs not being able to cap probably helped balance too along with rifles high cap rate.
Sure upkeep is a lot but it's not relevant at all to the issue at hand, hmgs ruining USF early game for some. (I don't mind the changes other than mg42 deserving to be 280 mp.) |
How do 270 Rifles with 27 reinforcing, and ultra-high upkeep, being cheap?
6 man rifles were cheaper than 5 man Volks. That's pretty cheap.
I wish Rifles in this game cost standard 240 with 6 men, with greatly reduced long range dps. |
Coh1 is not a valid example at all. Cheap rifles, 3 man hmg teams, and let's not forget Volks early game. |

Been losing a lot lately vs scrubs that I've completely whipped before because I'm thinking too hard and making a lot out of minor balance changes. Gotta take it back to basics, with a few tweaks to deal with the new 42 and Kubel (2 REs, Paths, fast smoke) and prevalence of medium armor. (Bazooka REs.) |
The rifle grenade is a huge micro tax lategame. But only (too) good lategame.Early game you can't afford it, and in the middle of a match its easy to dodge. Grenades are only good when fighting in multiple fronts, which Ostheer doesn't really do. Ostheer has enough tools to wipe. Honestly they should work like RE rifle nades, only used inside bunkers or buildings. |
Soviets have Su-76, Demo charges, 120mm for blobs. Soviets having good MG is not represent reality. |
