The Soviets have AT possibilities wherever they tech, inorder for OST to actually have AT sources they require T2. Plus guards are dominant as hell as always.
Funny knowing why Soviet ended with Penal PTRS... Ostheer T2 giving you 222, pak40, pzshrek in adding of long range pfaust and mines. I mean, dunno what you want more. |
The tier cost goes down by 15 FU, and the light vehicles need a 15 FU upgrade to unlock. The fuel timing should be the same. Manpower timing is very dependent on upkeep and reinforcement. I reckon it's still doable to get the AAHT out on its fuel timing without a crippling sacrifice of field presence given you get the Lieutenant's power spike out that much earlier.
The purpose of shifting manpower from Major to the earlier tiers is to reduce the manpower spike you get from deploying an Officer. That's to offset that spike happening earlier and the increased viability of doing it twice (LT + CPT). If 60 MP is too much it could be 40 MP. It could even remain at 200 MP per officer, but that'd make for a hefty net buff to USF.
A buff like that might be a good thing, but I'm deliberately keeping the scope of this proposal as tight as possible. The idea here is to increase USF's options. Buffing the faction is a separate issue.
Hum... yes true enough. |
Nerfing the ability depends on what you want to accomplish.
-If the main component is intel and not boosting/enabling other offmap you can change it to be cheaper and provide minimap info or tracking of the units in a zone without providing LOS for offamps.
-If it's to avoid constant bombarding of onfgoing abilities such as loiter planes and ramping artillery, the LoS time should be reduce drastically while still giving opportunity for other type of "1 shot" offmaps.
-If you want to keep it as it is and the ability is consider OP, increase the cost of it to be highest of all recon tools.
Or simply make it riflenade from volks or from Leig. |
You'll need to reduce LV's price as well since you are increasing Tier cost by 60mp and fuel by 5. Being able to build Lieutenant faster doesn't mean you'll not need another squad after, even if it is not a rifle squad. |
You don't need a vehicle specifically to deal with it.
I mean, look at soviets again, its not like they pick SU-76 to deal with luchs/puma (yes, I know that T-70 beats luchs, but if you want to actually kill it, you'll need bigger punch).
Or USF, when was last time you have seen Stuart?
Every time you see a Stuart, you see a PUMA. |
The .50 cal has 4-5 times more suppression than the MG 42. I wouldn't call suppression a problem for the M2.
No need to enter into theorycraft debate to see that a HMG42 deal faster suppression than HMG.50 |
Because the faction lacks a light tank to deal with T70s, stuarts, AECs, AAHTs etc. One of the many reasons panic puma is king currently.
The reason the Puma is king is because it allows you to stay in the game when any other faction would have be on the backfoot in the same situation.
Panic Puma had sense a year ago, not today. |
Interesting point...
The AA HT is not overpriced. Anyone who is decent at the game and has used it will tell you that. In fact, most other high level players I've talked to say it's probably too strong.
Write up for the .50:
(The maxim costs 240. The dshk costs 300, also its doctrinal. The vickers is 280, and the mg34 is 250. The .50 is 280. Finally, the mg42 is 260.
Pricing is: dshk > .50 = vickers > mg42 > mg34 > maxim
Performance is basically: mg42 > dshk > .50 > vickers > mg34 > maxim (some would say mg34 over vickers though, and with the .50s AP rounds and wider arc, its probably better than the dshk).
If anything, it looks like the .50 overperforms compared to all of the other HMGs for its cost, but you could rationalize that by it coming later.
My take on this is that you've decided to compare the .50 to the best, most cost efficient HMG and ignored how it stacks up against literally every other HMG. Claiming that a given unit is worse than the best unit available is... an interesting way to tackle things. Just because a unit is worse than the best unit in its class doesn't necessarily mean its bad or overpriced, it just means it's, well... worse than the best unit...? Sorry, the approach just baffles me.)
Anyway, that said, the .50 looks like a good HMG as long as you don't expect it to be the literal best HMG (shocker there). Not really overpriced.
Back to the LT overview, the M20. Yes, its overpriced.
As you said, the LT officer unit itself isn't overpriced.
So then 1/4 units in the tier are overpriced? Not sure how you even came to your initial conclusion honestly.
You also have to consider what you're giving up in exchange of the unit. Saying the HMG.50 is always available is not true unlike the HGM.42, vicker or DHSK (if you select the commander). Only the Maxim is really worst in comparison since you also need to give up T1 to access it, but that's also something everyone knows.
Of course I expect the HMG.50 to be one of the best HMG since to get it I need to give up AT, light artillery and Stuart's mobility. Last patch hardly nerfed it removing the sprint ability and reducing vet0 suppression with no compensation.
In my opinion all those debates around damage are nonsense, I don't want the HMG.5 to deal damage but suppression which has been nerfed. When I see that if your HMG isn't vet3 it lose vs a single squad of Obers vet2 because it is unable to suppress it in time there a problem somewhere.

You need to make grenade way cheaper or put back smoke on rifle if you link mortar with T1.
I can't see why you would go captain over lieutenant except for the pak which is a bad design imo and you still have the problem of expensive back-teching just to get or the HMG or the M1Atg.
I repeat myself but AAHT is countered by pak or Raketen (one shot is enough to send your AAHT at your base for repair), your own M1 isn't going to change that. On the other hand, the Stuart is much more mobile and pfaust are a much great threat than pak or raketen, here the HMG is key to suppress squads before they can reach pfaust range.
Current USF design is out of date. if it is to keep the same and just changing some units from tiers, better keep the actual one and buff what needs to be buffed. |
You may want to google the definition of "twice".
But other than that, m20 should see an MP decrease OR come with the skirts free. Maybe taking away the bazooka in exchange for MP reduction would be fair. I pretty much only use the AAHT these days.
Since the 222 does twice the m20 dps at max range while also dealing light AT damage while being a lot cheaper, "twice" is a good adjective. |
