Ostruppen are fine. I've always gotten good use out of them in 1s and 2s. The only thing I would add for them would be the ability to build sandbags. In: COH2 Balance |

It still provides a speed increase. A panther with its fast stock speed, amazing armor, and above average hp is undeniably more survivable than any p4. Especially if both are at vet 2.
Paks and shrecks absolutely are supporting units. They may be fragile, but that is why the panther exists. It tanks damage and blocks enemy flanks so that your paks can do their job unmolested. The panther is an enabler for them. For offensive actions, t4 is the best you can get. High armor, + high explosive barrage + the prefer is theoretically the best selection of units yo assault a position. Whether the units themselves are up to snuff is another problem. The tiger is good, but its slow and much more expensive than a panther. The lefh has a role, but it can't tank damage for the rest of your units. Its totally up to you whether or not you think panthers and brumbars are good. However, you are in the minority in this community if you think that the panther has no useful role. In: COH2 Balance |

That's your decision. T3 is definetly more well rounded, but it does not have the capability to break defensive lines and tank damage that t4 has.
Then that's your choice. First of all, don't 3xpect every unit to be viable against all armies. This is true for example for allied mgs (useless vs. Ost, great vs. Okw). I for one prefer t3 vs. Usf, mainly because of the power of stugs. However, I would much rather have panthers vs. Soviets, due to their reliance on lower pen/dps units.
Panther is faster than any medium tank, while also having blitz. Will consider this a brainfart.
A panther is first of all not a true hevy. It is substantially cheaper, whilst retaining the advantages of speed and high armor. A better comparison would be a panther to 3-4 t34s. A panther works in tandem with support units. It tanks damage, whilst supporting units dish out damage. The stugs on the other hand, require meatshields. They are dps, not true armor. You may not like t4, but that doesn't make it terrible. It gives you options no regular faction has. There is a distinction that needs to be made. Ostheer T4 gives you access to singular, powerful, specialised units (except lolwerfer). These units are expensive, but are easily the heaviest units that can be used nondoctrinally. The panther is also the most heavily armored unit in the game, bar the KT and IS2. In comparison, USF t3, Sov t4, and ostheer t3 give you access to individually less powerful and expensive medium armor and tank destroyers. These tanks are cheaper, and as a result they die a lot easier. I would argue that Ostheer T4 is fine (can't be sure until I play the patch) statistically, because the units built from tier 4 would be far too powerful if they arrived much earlier. They force a disproportionate amount of micro from opposing players, who do not have an equal option to compare it to. Better units require more tech costs. This is why the KT requires more tech than the panther, and why the tech system exists in the first place. Furthermore, it appears that relic wants ostheer t4 to be a luxury, not a logical tech progression. This means that t4 should he at a price that will significantly delay replacement mediums. The price increase may have been too much, but it is definetly not as far off as some people seem to think it should be. I'm fine with recon + bombs being in doctrines. What irks me is when doctrines that are supposedly hardcounter ed by onmap artillery come with the recon + bomb duo to counter their own counters. This applies to doctrines lIke the guard isu doctrine and the more popular elephant doctrine. Hopefully relic will go back and look at all of their doctrines again. In: COH2 Gameplay |

What's the thread about, another noob complaining about his ptrs blobs being nerfed? The thing is, cons underperform quite severly lategame, and have lost most of their utility with nerfs to merge, sandbags, and molotovs. Cons lategame can be buffed quite easily without affecting early game performance by giving them a nondoc weapon upgrade at T4 (SMG), a global buff upgrade at T4 (ie. less cost), or better veterancy unlocks (ie. more accuracy at vet3). Cons don't even need a direct buff. Making penals have a unique and scaling role (instead of being cons with better AI and no AT) would give Soviets viable lategame infantry while not changing conscripts at all, making con heavy builds strong early game but weaker as the match progresses. It would be my job here to remind those (like Queenrachet and Katitiof) that the battle phase costs are not the teching costs of the Wehrmacht... While it is technically true that Ostheer is the most expensive faction to tech, you also have to keep in mind that the Ostheer T4 has no equal in any other faction. Ostheer T4 gives access to heavy armor breakthrough units that do not exist non-doctrinal to other factions. The correct comparison would be Ostheer T3 (medium tier) to soviet t4 and usf t3. In this comparison, Ostheer tier 3 is very much in line with the tech costs of other factions. In: COH2 Balance |

Anybody else a bit nervous about the FHT buff? Anybody else remember the reason why it was changed in the first place? Was that root reason addressed? We remember, but there are a lot more changes that have shifted the overall game since then. Zis guns, mines and guards still work, plus you can get a SOV AAHT out only a little bit later. (40 + 20 + 30 =) 90 fu for FHT, (80 + 30 =) 110 fu for AAHT. I'd like to see how it works out. In: Lobby |

Everybody always complains about the conscripts. How about Penals? They are supposed to be semi automatic units that are effective against infantry, even have satchell charges. They are nowhere near as effective as Riflemen or Grenadiers with g43s. The Penals use the svt 40 Tokorov, the weapon that the Germans used to design the G43. It makes no sense why the Penals suck. To my believe Relic put them in purely to fill up the army and bash on Soviet Penal betallions as being squads full of scum. The best thing is, if penals got actual roles, then conscripts can stay as a viable option. Do you want an early game power increase, which doesn't scale into lategame? Go conscripts. Want actual infantry that you can rely on throughout the match? Go penals. Penals should get a cost increase and a DPS buff (to make them similar to riflemen), then get a PPSH upgrade or a flamer upgrade to flesh them out for other roles. In: COH2 Gameplay |
