Even in a game with complex strategies like starcraft, the guy with superior micro will almost always win. Actually if you look at areas around gold league and then compare it to high diamond, the big difference is macro >_>. At least that was how it was a couple of years ago; there was an awesome thread on it. There will always be more important aspects in playing a game well; microing well in CoH2 has the potential to give you a huge advantage from what I've seen of casts, and is thus very important. I think the question whether it should be or not is a bad one. Micro just is more important in this case. Sure they could change around the balance I guess, but there is still just as much space for the strategy. You just need to step up to that space with micro. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Radeon drivers crash25 Jun 2014, 00:20 AM I have the same problem with my Radeon HD 4850. It seems to be inconsistent though. I think I'll pay attention to the summer-winter thing, but I have definitely gotten through a match on a summer map. The support response I get automatically after the crash tells me to update my drivers. As far as I know the drivers are updated. I'll try fooling around with it some more, but I do remember having a different issue with Day Z (when it was still an Arma 2 mod I have no clue what it is now, because I don't follow it). Whenever I had everything on the lowest setting, my frame rate was very low. When I bumped it up around medium, things were dandy and the game ran just fine. I guess all that to say that I think these issues are weirder than they should be. If anyone else has input on this, it would be much appreciated. In: Hardware and Tech

I honestly don't see why they shouldn't. Looking at one disconnected aspect of the game doesn't tell you how the rest of it should go. Let me do essentially what you did for the original post, indirectly adressing a single unbalanced aspect of the game, and coming up with conclusions about it that are just as misguided as yours were. Official American Man Power thread American starting MP is not OP; it can be dealt with, but I want to discuss something with the guys here who have big brains. Compare Oberkommand starting MP - Ostheer starting MP - Soviet starting MP - American starting MP. Factions should not have more MP to build more units like that. I understand the idea about having an elite faction, but not that much MP. Make the starter unit more powerful? sure. But early resources is not good for balance imo. Anyway, discuss, lads. Isn't it just as reasonable to say that high APM is merely a correlation with learning how to micro well? In terms of a mental challenge, is learning how to micro your troops somehow different than learning how to strategize? Slowness is a factor yes, but that takes practice. You don't even have to worry about practicing though, because just playing the game is practice! You just have to devote a bit of your mind power to paying attention to it so you can actually learn about it. After all High APM =/= good micro, and that is something that can be proved. Thread: How to de-crew Sturmtigers?24 Jun 2014, 19:31 PM I actually have tried to get the computer to de-crew me. (My CoH2 crashed so the replay wasn't saved) I now know that Shock Troops, Conscript rifles, and Conscript AT grenades definitely do not de-crew a SturmTiger. Just trust me on this one, I sat there in the russian base and watched a ST being shot at by Russians for a very long time until conscripts finally got the entirety of its health to 0 via AT grenades. Of course, I was also shooting and reloading as often as possible. So far I have yet to see the de-crew, but a normal hand grenade would make sense. Does anyone know all of the ways in which a ST de-crew is possible? In: OKW Strategies
Thread: Luchs Cautious Movement ability doesn't work.24 Jun 2014, 19:10 PM The Luchs and the JagdpanzerIV are both new units for the Oberkommando from the very recent CoH2 expansion. They are very similar to each other in that they can both deal a high amount of damage to the enemies that they are effective against, and more importantly, they both have a vet1 ability called "Cautious Movement" which lets them stealth like almost exactly like a VCoH sniper. Except the Luchs can't because the ability doesn't work. 0 VS CPU - Easy CPU - Easy CPU - Easy CPU - Easy CPU - Easy Mystia Lorelei Luchs Cautious Movement ability doesn't work. 3.0.0.14243 by: Overkillius map: City 17 Winter 1 - This replay demonstrates the Luchs' Cautious Movement vet1 ability not working, while the JagdPanzerIV's version of the same ability does. That said, the JagdPanzerIV uses this ability handily! It is kind of baffling that none of the troops on the field can see this thing unless they get within about a tank-length of the vehicle, but you can definitely hear it! Really, it is an interesting ability to be given to armored vehicles, and I anticipate seeing it implemented correctly for the Luchs as well. In: COH2 Bugs

Thread: How to de-crew Sturmtigers?24 Jun 2014, 15:24 PM I'd actually like to know good ways to kill the crew while they are reloading. iirc the in-game text makes it seem like one could take out a ST crew and re-crew it while they are reloading. In the animation, the beginning half of the reload is where the ST is actually opened up and there is even a crew member exposed. Is this the only time that the crew can be easily taken down? (assuming it can happen like that at all) In: OKW Strategies
Thread: Stugs23 Jun 2014, 15:51 PM I find target weak point to be very mean against enemy tanks, especially the bigger ones. It is very satisfying to chain a couple of stuns from target weak point on a more expensive call-in tank while pounding on it with other non-vet tanks or AT. I prefer to use the Jaeger Armor doctrine and mass Stugs. Keep in mind that is all from 3v3 and 4v4 experience. I don't generally spend any time on 1v1 or 2v2. Jaeger Armor docrine 2CP Halftrack AT mine 4CP Recon Flight 5CP Spotting Scope 12CP Stuka Bombing Strike 12CP Elefant I'll admit that I'm a bit noobish, so I haven't found a good way to work in Halftrack AT mines, but I imagine that they could be good for covering flanks, and given the mobility of halftracks, covering enemy retreats to give them a nasty surprise . I usually find that I play more effectively if I skip T2 all together though. The long range of a Stug + a spotting scope make them rather deadly ESPECIALLY in a snow storm, and they can tear through large groups of Katyushas if they can manage to sneak behind the lines (also easier in a snow storm) Similarly, a recon flight can give you not only valuable info on enemy movement and vulnerabilities in their defenses, but can also give you a spot on enemy units to snipe at with a Stug. Once you get an Elefant, these tactics will work even better for it. (With Stugs already in front of the Elefant of course) It isn't fast enough to flank, but once you engage an enemy tank, you can pound it a couple of times, stun it with target weak point as per usual Stug combat, and the Elefant will reap in the kills.
