Hello, I saw some maps (screenshots) where smoke and such things were implemented. (smoke going over the terrain, it looked awesome). I want to use this for craters, where can I find this? Or do I have to create it by myself in some way?
Thanks. |
Thanks! Yeah normally they were all working for me to. I think the problem was that the elevation of the map was causing some problems, I did some leveling with the height editor and replaced them and they work fine now!
I love this map editor its so great! Thanks again I didn't realize you could reload the pathing like that.
Thanks for helping you
I think that the map editor is great too, I love it. I also like this forum, because it can really help you to ask some questions. |
I believe the limit is 50. Anything higher than that and it resets the area to 0 and then continues adding from there. Keep in mind that sudden elevation changes can cause sight and camera issues.
What he said. Don't make steep slopes and stuff, it will cause camera issues.
And, you can actually make quite high hills and stuff, if you decrease the height of the terrain where you are starting with (normally 0, you can lower it). |

The splines should work as objects in game, I.e walls will act as cover and can be crushed. The wall mode just pushes the ends of each wall section together so there is no gaps.
Once you have placed your splines you can edit the state of certain sections, by clicking on the 'edit state' button in the 'current' (when an object is selected) section of the object spline tool. This will allow you to create sections that are damaged, i.e. broken down fences.
This page should give you plenty on info on splines http://www.coh2.org/guides/10390/worldbuilder-the-spline-tool-in-detail
Hope this helps.
Thanks. |
Just remember, there is two lists, default, and currently selected. That confused me at first. You should be able to zoom out, and double click an object, and all of the same object should select.
Oh. Ok.
But the object splines, do they react as an object? Or a visual? Because for reeds, it's good to have it as a visual, but for walls, you want them to be an object, right? Is that the wall-mode thing? |
You should be using object splines everywhere u get a chance. Those reeds along the water are a great example, and you will find it will save you much time as well. Use them of walls, fences, basically anything that is in a row. This is most likely the issue.
Is there a tutorial for this? Because I know how to use texture and deform splines, but I'm not sure how to use object splines, I can't add objects to the spline list for example.
And about my previous post, can I edit the swampgrass_m_01 to object splines instead of objects?
Thanks for helping me out!
EDIT: Ah, I found how to add it to the list. Lets try...... |
When I just select the whole map, I get 11752 selections. Without objects 885.
Can I delete a specific object (swampgrass_m_01) for example, and then ALL of the swampgrasses at the same time? I think it's possible but I'm not sure how, but I think deleting all those reeds/swampgrasses will prevent crashing because I just have too many. |
Using the select objects, on my map, I zoomed out and selected everything. I have 3790 objects splines SPLTS..ect, on a 800x800 playable area, 928x928 total. I'm having no issues. If you are referring to the grass tool, it uses Bloom rendering, and is not the problem. I have no water on my map, but I've added water before, just to see how it would be, and had no issues, but that was some time ago, and less objects. You could eliminate that as an issue by deleting your water, or disabling as suggested above, and seeing if it still crashes.
You specs look more than sufficient. The screenshots look normal for detail. The question was asked earlier, are you using object splines to make hedge rows, walls...ect, or are you placing objects 1 at a time?
The map has really good details btw, impressive!
I'm not using object splines at all, only deform and texture splines. (deform for roads and fields). I think that I have a huge amount of objects, because I placed reeds (object) across the whole river that is as long of the map. I'll how many objects I have, 1 sec. |
