I don't think there's a need for some deep justification. It just worked well back in GR/vCoH times. I always found it interesting to know who people are rooting for, especially that the most popular player at a time wasn't necessarily the one people considered to have biggest chances of winning the tourney.
Sorry Nullist if this explanation isn't good enough for you, but I don't think I can come up with something better ;).

I just dont see what relevance anyones "popularity" has to anything.

I thought the tournament was about skill, not how many asskissers/fans you have, but maybe Im wrong and thats actually really important too?

Reminds me of the kind of poll youd find in Cosmo, but again, maybe Im missing something.

Are the invitees in the best of 1 mirrors? because *anything* could happen there. First invitee to go... maybe DevM? I mean, he's improved a lot and he's still got them COH vehicle micro skills but I'm not sure he's really got a COH 2 mindset yet.

Ami will not be able to find the commanders. Ipkai will know what they are if he ends up co-casting any of it. As far as to look out for... maybe Tsubaki Yayoi. I'd love to see more of Jesulin after the last time he was in a tourney. Barton always loses to Von but I'm hoping to see that battleofthetrolls anyway.

Depending on patch, I'd say a marginally better Ostheer winrate. Like 60%.

What?....
Compare it to football, you always root for your own country but yet you know finland will never have a chance to win the world championship.
Same here, there are people you find more charismatic or whose playstyle you like more so you have a slight hope they might win

It's obvious who is going to win

I have played one game in maybe the last two weeks, so any player that doesn't KO me in 10 minutes is clearly a noob.

Yep, my old polls were always 2-part, "vote with your head" and "vote with your heart."

Looks like I am going to be the first out if I can't get the weekend off work. I booked it off ages in advance as well ffs. Sorry guys =/

While your work ethic is admirable, you're going to miss the chance to play in what might be a one off the largest COH2 tournament and the prospect of winning over $1000 just so you can cook burgers?

I'd put OMGPOP, Twister, and Symbi at the top. If Seph practices he could have potential too ofc.

ya he should have gotten an invite he did win the esl summer cup. *Stares at tournament invite list pickers for picking some people who haven't won any other coh2 tournaments over Jesulin the last person to win a coh2 tournament

With the current meta I think that it will all boil down to who can play his Soviet rounds better, therefore: Ivan FTW

Symbi Twister OMGPOP and DanielD would probably roll most the players getting all the attention these days, I'd bet on them.

I think a lot of people here put way too much weight on the ladder which is really quite misleading. Most of the ladder leaders are going to be crushed quite frankly.
