Glad to hear.

Does anyone know why the infantrycombat was altered the way it was? Was this a request by the community or is it simply a result of the new developmentteam having a different philosophy than the team behind vCOH?

I recall in a developer thread way back this was discussed. It was explained that they wanted to remove 'hidden knowledge' from the game. For example in vcoh volks v rifles volks would win in cover at range whilst rifles needed to get close in. This was not obvious for someone coming to the game - in fact careful study of dps tables was advisable to play the game even reasonably we'll. in coh2 a new player can immediately see that with cons v grens the trick is to land a grenade or attack with 2 vs 1 or buy an upgrade (Lmg). The low dps of small arms accentuates this mechanic and gives players more time to react. I hesitate to say this on an anti negativity thread but it was a 'dumbing down' in an attempt to broaden appeal. It is probably the only change I really regret in the game.

Shame. I would love to get rid of all the unit descriptions to make room for lines explaining all the small nuances between units.

I'm sorry I cannot take anyone seriously who compares COH2 to SC2. In terms of micro, ability use, anything.

Calling the game "stupidified" and attempting (incorrectly) attempting to compare COH to SC2 makes the argument or "explanation" to ring false.

If you're going to make an unfavorable comparison, at least ensure it's accurate. The comparison and lack of understanding of SC2 is frankly laughable.

And who compared COH2 to SC2, it wasn't me for sure. You are not reading what I said, you are concluding what you want to conclude. I was comparing COH and COH2, as you asked.

2. I don't see how it's a bad thing that infantry are required to move to stay clear of grenades, aside from COH1 players being upset that it's different from what they've come to expect. Can someone explain this to me?

You didn't even play COH, so you have no idea what the difference between COH and COH2 is.

COH2 is a lot less punishing towards mistakes and its been made more 'user friendly' aka 'stupididfied' compared to COH.
Thats why you have all these powerful call in units/abilities. You don't get punished with pop cap or your fuel completely cut of like in COH. And this is what the devs said they tried to do with the game (they didn't use stupidified of course)
So yeah, its been stupidified.

Bit of advice, you might wanna re-think tone of your posts in future. Throwing accusations and semi-insulting people is generally not good idea on this site. There are some real Pros when it comes to returning flak around here. (Not talking about myself) Just saying because you are newish and have bit of attitude.

Good luck

So basically, COH2 has become stupidified for user and is starting to look a lot like SC2. All we need is Chuck Norris and Rambo superheros that kill everything DLC, to complete the feel.
Most people would love that and I am sure it would sell even better, but old COH players loved COH because it wasn't like that

Pretty sure that's a comparison between CoH2 and SC2. You even bolded that sentence in your original post. Have you played SC2? The above quote would seem to imply you haven't.

Also, I'm a big boy. I can take care of myself. Thanks for your concern though.

Once again, you are concluding what you want to conclude. Not what is written.

The comparison is between COH and COH2. Reference to SC2 is the direction COH2 has taken, and that is towards SC2 style and if we get Chuck Norris DLC than Warcraft.
Which would complete the move away from core COH gameplay mechanics..

Might have been me overreacting, and it was most likely this...

...I reacted to. Sorry about lashing out.

About me liking CoH2 more. It is very true, and I think it plays better with 2v2 than CoH1, without really knowing why sadly. Aslo not a high level player, something that might play a part in all of this.

About abusive things in CoH2, I do agree that there are alot of things that need to be looked at, and I'm not fond of all hardcounters that make builds stale. However, this is a new game and things are subject to change, unlike CoH1 which is unlikely to recieve any major further patches to iron out what I dislike in that game.

Also, I never claimed that everyone disliked cloak or vet works in CoH1. Just saying that not everyone thinks that all mechanincs in CoH1 were perfect either. In this sense we agree to disagree.

To try to stick to topic and answer if this game is more a clickfest than earlier (and CoH1) I think Blovski put it very good here.

No problem man, we all do it :)

Its not like I don't like COH2 at all, there are things I like, there are things I don't. There were certainly things I didn't like in COH. Like sniper spam, I liked mechanics but maybe if there was 1 or 2 sniper max it would have been better.

Anyway VCOH wasn't anything like COH in last couple of years, so we will see where we end up

I suspected as much - shame really.
Probably the main reason for the removal of the target tables and the current scatter mechanic.

There will always be 'hidden knowledge' in any complex game.
It's a very important part of game design and UI to impart the game mechanics.
Frankly CoH2 has done a pretty mediocre job so far, even though some aspects of the game have been 'stream lined'.
Some tooltips are still misleading or just wrong - months after release.

I haven't paid much attention to it lately but does the T3 OST research still announce "...medium tanks and rocket artillery are now available"?
(The artillery being in T4 since release.)

EDIT
To be fair: The information flow in vCoH was apparently worse.
