Hello!
After almost a 3 year break, I came back and started playing a lot of 2v2s recently with a friend who plays mostly Soviets, and I wonder what are the best commanders/strategies I could be using as USF to maximize our game potential.
I was a somewhat decent(lvl 16) 1v1 player in vCOH and kept the same skill level when transferring to COH 2(wich I played a lot less), but 2v2 seems like an entire different beast to me, and I find myself lost many times, never knowing what is really effective, whats meta etc...
Thanks in advance.
Good USF commanders for 2v2

Based on what I've seen top10 players do, and what my partner and I do when we do 2x USF is using mostly:
Right now no one picks armour, and recon doctrine seems super rare too. I am reluctant to even mention Rifleman doctrine on the list above since I think it's really the first three that you see. Ever since the Calliope was nerfed a few patches ago, that commander is also pretty useless. Calliope is just an expensive and shittier version of the Katyusha.
- Airborne - the P47 loiter is quite potent lategame, and the elite infantry is strong too. Also paradropping MGs/AT guns is nice.
- Pershing doc - I've seen this but it might not be the best on all maps, due to the abundance of german tank destroyers. But the pershing is very strong.
- Infantry doc (with priest) - this is a staple in 2v2 - Scotch uses it in 100% of his games. the M1919LMG is very strong on rifles, and the priest is an excellent howitzer piece. Mortar halftrack used to be amazing but now it's mediocre I'd say.
- Rifleman (with the easy 8) - I've seen this a little little little bit. Easy 8s are a nice generalist tank if your mate is making specialists (firefly/su85/jackson)

Thank you!
Airborne seems really good in my testing so far, since my Soviet friend almost always goes for T1 Penals into T3/T4, I really need to cover the MG/AT gun department and normal USF teching isnt very friendly since it forces me to choose one of the two, also Paras with dual lmgs are a beast indeed.

The only USF doctrines worth a damn are Heavy Cav, Mechanized, Airborne, and Rifle Company in that order.

I actually like recon support though. The paradrop is super cost efficient (325 mp for an at gun and paras, which cost 380 IIRC in airborne lol) and pathfinder arty is really good. Cluster bombs are decent too, and can be devastating if you time them right (sometimes they somehow manage to miss pretty much everything though).

I'm a big fan of RS myself, just used it today with decent success, Raid can be used with Scotts in the lategame to get back territory really fast too, Greyhound is AI only now but it fills a nice niche in the LT rooster.
Nosliw however has the meta, Infantry is amazing in Open maps or vs camping, Pershing is always good and specially in Urban maps, while Airborne is there mostly for the P47s for those annoying Super Heavy TDs that neuters USF's vehicle play.

(imo) No, no, no. And if you allow to say me that again, no
Especially in 2v2.
The right order is:
Infantry doc (priest) , Airborne doc (p47 and airborne), and then either rifle company or heavy cav i would say rifle company bcs pershing is not that good in 2v2 but i also just like rifle company so i gues rifle company = heavy cav in 2v2.
Definitely leave out mechanized. Definitely NOT heavy cav on number 1 and definitely YES infantry doctrine on 1.
I don't want to be an asshole or something, but what you are saying is just NOT true
