There has been a steady decline since release, but It has stabilized somewhat. I think those who are here are here to stay and hopefully new players will also come. I also think it will help if relic drops the price a tad, to attract more people.

Yesterday, there were more users playing COH2 than most of August, if anything the chart shows that the user base has leveled out around 5500 - 6000.

I think we may see a small rise since the holidays are now over.

I think once the game becomes more balanced for all stages (early-mid-late) then the population should begin increasing. Some kind of marketing effort from Relic/Sega at that point would likely greatly help.

I see no increase in this graph. Stabilization of userbase yes, but definitely the userbase hasn't increased.

Its steam numbers, so I assume all of players in COH2 game/menu

From what i read in forums and speak to people, there are 3 main problems:

1> lack of balance (or perceived balance) for 1v1
2> Lack of public lobby/annihilate for 3v3 and 4v4 players
3> Lagg, drops for everyone

and maybe 4, a lot of people were expecting coh2 to be TOW coh, just 'better' not different

The long term trend shows a steady decline over a 3 month horizon: http://steamcharts.com/app/231430#3m. The average number of players per month in July and August was, respectively, 5702 and 3520. Your prediction of 5500-6000 seems quite high.

It shows that in August there were 5500+ players each Sunday, Suggesting that they are returning players, so the estimate of 5500+ active players is perfectly correct.

Why are these numbers not the same then the ones on steam ?

The peaks don't coordinate, on steam the peak right now is 5,874 vs. 3,230 for steamcharts.com

steamcharts.com updates once every hour. If you zoom in(drag the bar at the bottom of the chart) you can see values for every hour. It makes a sine wave indicating roation of the world as player counts differ, depending on wether it is night or day. Steam's official numbers show the real-time/current players.

@the_riddler: The graph shows average values if you zoom out and shows hourly values if you zoom in. It only shows peak players for every day at the top, which is the peak of the 'sine wave' for each day.

Yesterday's peak was 5777 which is a bit higher than last sunday(5668), so at least that is a small increase :D
