Flamethrowers do pretty good friendly fire now

I think the latest patch, which changed it so that flamethrowers can kill mines, also added fairly significant friendly fire. It happens a bit in my latest shoutcast (check 4:27 for instance). That's pretty funny.

I believe that could've happened before the patch. Flames do aoe damage, though I believe friendly troops probably take less from it. This combined with the fact that it usually happenes when you are being fired at is why I don't think many people notice it. Though I don't really have any source other then personal experience.

I once had my flamers kill some of their own models when attacking another unit before the patch and yell "They're roasting us!"

i just checked it, friendly fire for flamethrowers (at least the soviet ones) was in the game at least since release... could check the betas too if you want :-)

Friendly Fire's been around since Beta. It used to be really potent too. I think they messed around with it and it stopped a few patches back except in very specific circumstances.
